Traveler Alert - Data Roaming and the T-Mobile G1

I’ve been testing a G1 phone from T-Mobile for the last few weeks. So far I have been very impressed and I believe Android is the phone operating system of the future.

However, I did come across one big “Uh-Oh” regarding at least the way T-Mobile handles the service. If you’re using the G1, and planning to go abroad be sure to contact T-Mobile beforehand to add the WorldClass service feature to your data.

They grew up in a technology-driven world, right?

They pop out of the womb with the ability to send 100 text messages per minute.

By the age of two they have mastered the zen art of the Wii.

At age four, they can create a spreadsheet in Excel for calculating the statistical probability of getting no green M&Ms in a bag of candy.

Don’t they have the ability to multitask?

I’ll admit it. I was multitasking while writing this. With multiple projects on my mind, my work set-up demonstrated it. I had several Firefox tabs open with different types of sites, ranging from blogs to newspapers, Gmail to random research. I was saving bits and pieces of information into Evernote. Books were laid open on the table. TED talks were playing in the background for inspiration. Let’s not forget Twitter, or the email notifications reminding me that I was missing some late-night work action. I was mentally all over the place, and to my detriment, was not finishing what I started.

Multitasking drivers beware: the Illinois legislature has put a target on your backs.

The House today approved two measures aimed at limiting what drivers do behind the wheel. House Bill 71 passed 92-25 and looks to ban text messaging while driving. House Bill 72 passed 96-21 forbids talking on a cell phone in either a school or construction zone.
