The U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday overwhelmingly condemned the 47-year U.S. trade embargo on Cuba, an annual ritual that serves to highlight global opposition to America's hard-line policy toward the communist island, but which has done little to change Washington's stance, even with a new administration.

This year's vote was 187-3 in opposition to the embargo, up from 185-3 last year, with only Israel and the tiny Pacific island nation of Palau supporting the United States. It was the 19th year in a row that the General Assembly has taken up the symbolic measure, with Washington steadily losing what little support it once had.

It was the first time the world body has taken the vote since U.S. President Barack Obama took office in January, promising to extend a hand of friendship to Washington's traditional enemies.

Still, Washington has made clear it is not prepared to lift the embargo until Cuba accepts some political, economic and financial changes.

Measures to dismantle it:

1) Take away corporations' freedom of speech. It is a right for citizens, not artificial entities. They should not be involved in mass media and in funding television programs for their own benefit.

2) Take away corporations' ability to control government. Prohibit lobbyists from having access to Congress. Prohibit their campaign funding of political candidates.

And if they can use government to do that, they will. Individuals have a whole range of interests. Individuals go to church, they care about religious and social issues, they care about the future of the country. They're voters

It is directly influencing candidates and elections. And it's hidden, because it's going through all these groups that are front groups and sound like the, you know, Committee for a Better California. And it's really corporate spending

Eastside Catholic High School senior Jessica Terry studied her own tissue samples as part of her school’s BioMedical course.

A high school project to study and report on different tissue diseases became a lot more than a quest for a good grade when one student found the answer to a question that had puzzled her doctors for years.

Eastside Catholic High School senior Jessica Terry was diagnosed as a child with an indeterminable case of either Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, but after hours of studying her own tissue samples, she found the answer; a granuloma, or a mass of cells, that signified Crohn's.

"This is something that pathologists had already done for her, had already tested for, and they didn't see it," said Mary Margaret Welch, instructor for Eastside Catholic's BioMedical course. "It's such a remarkable project."

Terry's conclusion came from a histology project, which is the study of tissues, and one of the major focuses of the class

Users Complain of Mysterious 'PIFTS' Warning

Computer support forums are lighting up with queries from users wondering what to do about an alert on whether to trust a file called "PIFTS.exe". Meanwhile, someone at Symantec's support forum seems to be deleting posts from users inquiring about this alert almost as soon as they go up on the forum.

Swa Frantzen, an incident handler with the SANS Internet Storm Center, writes today that PIFTS.exe appears to be related to a Norton update since it has a has a component in it that leverages the user's Internet connection to contact a Web page at norton.com, which is owned and operated by Symantec.

Dave Cole, senior director of product management at Symantec, said the PIFTS file was part of a "diagnostics patch" shipped to Norton customers on Monday evening. The purpose of the update, Cole said, was to help determine how many customers would need to be migrated to newer versions of its software as more Windows users upgrade to Windows 7.

The US Postal Service is currently growing and upgrading its huge fleet of 220,000 vehicles which gathers over 1.2 billion miles driven per year. With an investment of $210 million the company will bring new fuel efficient models in the fleet from producers like Chrysler, Ford and General Motors, replacing around 6,500 old ones

new comers are divided as follows: 1.000 units are E-85 ethanol-capable, 900 units are hybrids and the rest of 4,600 are standard cars with 4-cylinder gasoline-powered engines. Adding the 1,900 new hybrids and flex-fuel cars, the U.S. Postal Service will count 43,000 vehicles of this kind in their fleet. They are also making tests this period with two 4-generation Chevrolet Equinox hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, another 300 cars biodiesel, 35 on propane and some electric delivery vehicles from T3 Motion
