Liars may noticeably fidget, especially during a pause in the conversation.
Since he or she has to invent an answer, a lie-teller will often spend more time searching for the right word in the course of telling a story. To get extra time to think, a liar won't use contractions (opting for "cannot" instead of "can't") and may also repeat questions ("Where was I last night?" or "You want to know what I was doing yesterday?"(Like Now?)
How to Lie:
-Stay calm
-Keep it simple
-Remain it steady
-Make your listener like you and fed him or her full of horse manure as you go along....Very interesting.

Clip Source: health.howstuffworks.com

Lying isn't a sign of moral depravity (except when it is). Lying is a sign of cognitive advancement. It requires a fertile and high-functioning brain to take something as simple as the truth and twist it, palming off the deception on someone else with the earnestness of a choirboy.

The problem with the truth is that it doesn't always serve our purposes, further our careers or keep us out of trouble. When you can take the route made of imagination, best-case scenarios and wish fulfillment, you'd be nuts not to take a deceitful stroll toward your goals,

Clip Source: health.howstuffworks.com

The Basics of Lies

To conceal misdeeds and stay out of trouble.

To preserve reputation.

To avoid hurting someone's feelings.

To increase stature and reputation.

manipulate.

To control information.

Lies are told -- in some form or fashion -- by just about everybody. Some personality types, however, are more likely to lie than others:

Pathological liars

Compulsive liars

Narcissists

Borderline personalities

Histrionic personalities

Tags: science

<clipSource>http://health.howstuffworks.com/lying.htm</clipSource>

To spank or not to spank

clipped by: dakotayii
clipper's remarks: Richard Wiseman, a psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield, UK, adds that almost any shared activity is likely to promote interpersonal closeness. "It doesn't have to be tying up your partner or placing clamps on their nipples, it could be something as simple as cooking a meal together or even doing the housework as a duo," he says.

Clip Source: www.newscientist.com

SPANKING is stressful at first, but it could bring consenting couples closer together. That's the implication of two studies of hormonal changes associated with sadomasochistic (S&M) activities including spanking, bondage and flogging.

At an S&M event in Colorado, testosterone was measured in 45 men and women. It increased significantly in receiving women only. Donatella Marazziti of the University of Pisa, Italy, says the boost may help women cope with the aggressive nature of S&M activities, or that it could be another sign of stress. In both studies, couples who said the party went well also reported increases in relationship closeness

It's important to note that levels of both hormones dropped back down in couples who enjoyed the experience, Marazziti says. When undercover investigators made their way onto Chinese fur farms recently, they found that many animals are still alive and struggling desperately when workers flip them onto their backs or hang them up by their legs or tails to skin them. When workers on these farms begin to cut the skin and fur from an animal's leg, the free limbs kick and writhe. Workers stomp on the necks and heads of animals who struggle too hard to allow a clean cut.

When the fur is finally peeled off over the animals' heads, their naked, bloody bodies are thrown onto a pile of those who have gone before them. Some are still alive, breathing in ragged gasps and blinking slowly. Some of the animals' hearts are still beating five to 10 minutes after they are skinned. One investigator recorded a skinned raccoon dog on the heap of carcasses who had enough strength to lift his bloodied head and stare into the camera.

Ever

wonder what foods the Vikings ate when they set off to explore the new world? How Thomas
Jefferson

made his ice cream? What the pioneers cooked along the Oregon Trail? Who invented the potato

chip...and why?

Welcome to the Food Timeline!

Food history presents a fascinating buffet of popular lore and contradictory facts. Some people will tell you it's impossible
to express this topic in exact timeline format. They are correct. Most foods we eat are not invented; they evolve.

Both of these chemicals are surfactants – wetting agents that lower the surface tension of a liquid – that are added to toothpastes to create foam and make the paste easier to spread around your mouth (they’re also important ingredients in detergents, fabric softeners, paints, laxatives, surfboard waxes and insecticides).

. Both SLES and SLS mess with our taste buds in two ways. One, they suppress the receptors on our taste buds that perceive sweetness, inhibiting our ability to pick up the sweet notes of food and drink. And, as if that wasn’t enough, they break up the phospholipids on our tongue. These fatty molecules inhibit our receptors for bitterness and keep bitter tastes from overwhelming us, but when they’re broken down by the surfactants in toothpaste, bitter tastes get enhanced.

Tags: science

<clipSource>http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/19516</clipSource>

Whiter shades of pale

clipped by: dakotayii
clipper's remarks: If music be the food of love [see note, left, about this verse + its opening]
then laughter is its queen
and likewise if behind is in front
then dirt in truth is clean
note:[Roland from BtP notes: inspection of the typescript in Gary Brooker's album compiling all Keith Reid's original lyrics shows the order of the two 'extra' verses reversed, and reveals 'life', not 'love', in the 'ocean bed' verse (which enriches the Shakespeare quotation there in the same way as 'fandango' enriches Milton's 'light fantastic' earlier in the song). but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
and forced her to agree
saying, 'You must be the mermaid
