The unclaimed funds come from abandoned financial assets collected by the Treasurer's office each year.

Clip Source: kewlninja.wordpress.com

A state law passed over three decades ago requires Wisconsin businesses and financial entities to turn all WI unclaimed money, stock and objects from safe deposit boxes to the Treasurer’s office for safekeeping after one to five years of dormancy. There is no time limit for collecting Wisconsin unclaimed property and a record $25 million Wisconsin unclaimed money was returned in 2007 by the State Treasury Department. According to the Treasurer, a total of 24,616 unclaimed money claims were paid out last year.

“We have about $330 million that belongs to Wisconsin citizens,” said the Treasurer. “It’s a big deal; $330 million is a lot of money. With Wisconsin having a population of about 5 million people, about one in five have something coming back.” Doing unclaimed money searches yourself would be the best way to go as ‘finders’ can take a huge chunk of your claims. It’s even possible to find pre-escheat property in your name (before they get turned-over to the state). Find-out how.
Hundreds of people owed at least $10,000 from Illinois state unclaimed property.

Clip Source: kewlninja.wordpress.com

The US economy right now is in a dreary state and multitudes of Americans are having serious financial problems. Mortgage and unemployment rates are at a high and bills are piling-up in scores of American households. Residents of Illinois as well as of the other states however, have good chances of being owed money by the government and not even know it. Alexei Giannoulias, State Treasurer, has been busy early this year reuniting residents with unclaimed money from Illinois unclaimed properties

Everyone should really do an unclaimed money search as most owners of unclaimed property aren’t even aware they’re missing money. “Though the average claim is under $100, there are hundreds of Illinois residents who will see windfalls of $10,000 and more,” Giannoulias said. “This money does not belong to the state. We want to return it to its rightful owners.”

Tags: illinois unclaimed money, il unclaimed money, il unclaimed funds, missing money, unclaimed money in illinois

<clipSource>http://kewlninja.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/il-unclaimed-money/</clipSource>

Price of raw materials have gone-up

clipped by: dabirdman
clipper's remarks: Only a matter of time high fuel prices will make everything else more expensive.

Clip Source: news.yahoo.com

Manufacturers are "experiencing higher prices for their inputs while demand for their products is slowing," Norbert J. The unemployment rate rose to 5.5 percent in May, up from 5 percent in April. The increase was the largest in two decades. Economists surveyed by Thomson Financial/IFR expect the same rate when June's number is released Thursday.

Economists continue to worry that higher prices will stifle growth. Lehman Brothers economist Michele Meyer said she expects higher prices to push the manufacturing reading below its break-even level next month.

Tags: us recession, us economy, fuel crisis

<clipSource>http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080701/ap_on_bi_ge/economy</clipSource>

saving tax rebate check defeats their purpose

clipped by: dabirdman
clipper's remarks: some people are putting their tax rebate checks into their savings and this won't help boost the economy.

Clip Source: news.yahoo.com

NEW YORK - With millions of stimulus checks going out to taxpayers, Wall Street wants to know where that money will be spent — and this week's data could help investors gauge the mind-set of the average consumer.

With many consumers weighed down by debt and saving up to keep up with the cost of basic necessities, some market experts are concerned that what's best for most individuals — saving their rebates — might not end up helping the broader economy.

Tags: us recession, us economy, tax refunds, tax rebates

<clipSource>http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080511/ap_on_bi_ge/wall_street_week_ahead</clipSource>

Illinois Unclaimed Money

clipped by: dabirdman
clipper's remarks: IL State Treasury a source of extra cash for residents?

Clip Source: ezinearticles.com

The only thing standing between the cash and its rightful owners is the knowledge that it's out there and the ability to track it down.

The bottom line is that the state of Illinois is currently home to a massive amount of money that belongs to its residents who simply need to learn the proper ways to search, where to search, and how often to search.
