Byron Wolf reports: "Elections are short-term efforts," Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, told supporters in a Web video tonight. "Revolutions are long-term projects."

Paul indicated that the 2008 presidential campaign portion of his revolution is over.

An earlier version of this report indicated that Paul would "drop out" of the race. In the video, Paul did not use the words "drop out," opting instead to say the campaign is "winding down," and he encourages supporters to still cast votes for him. But he referred to his campaign in the past tense.

"We are still in the early stages of bringing about the changes that this revolution is all about," Paul said in the video. "Let us hope that we can one day look back and say that this campaign was a significant first step that signaled a change in direction for our country. Our job now is to plan for the next phase."

Tags: ron paul, paul, revolution, politics, campaign, election

<clipSource>http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/03/ron-paul-to-dro.html</clipSource>

Jonathan Richman Overwhelms the Ladies at First of Two Shows

clipped by: creepysleepy
clipper's remarks: NY Mag contacted me about using my pic from the killer Jonathan Richman show in Williamsburg last night.

Clip Source: nymag.com

Jonathan Richman Overwhelms the Ladies at First of Two Shows

Sorry, the restraining order prevented us from getting any closer.Photo: Dan Patterson

While Clinton and Obama were still counting delegates in Texas and Ohio late last night, a blissfully apolitical Jonathan Richman kept fare nice and light in Brooklyn. Looking as though he’d just flown in from Ibiza, Richman shimmied his way through the first of two sold-out shows at the Music Hall of Williamsburg

Tags: jonathan richman, music, williamsburg, nymag

<clipSource>http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2008/03/jonathan_richman_overwhelms_th.html</clipSource>

Twitter In The Classroom

clipped by: creepysleepy
clipper's remarks: Jeff O'Hara's fantastic new social media meets education project - THIS is one to watch!

Clip Source: www.techcrunch.com

Twitter In The Classroom

Edmodo says it’s going to be Twitter for teachers and students, with features like calendaring events that are tailored to the classroom. Personally, I think Twitter itself works just fine as the Twitter for teachers and students, but give edmodo a shot if you’re interested. Perhaps he finally got the message. Perhaps his advisors told him, “Look, we’re getting nailed on this one, and if we don’t start talking about brass tax, we’re going to have a hard time of it.” When he began discussing some specifics of his “plan” (as positions and campaign promises are referred to these days) in last week’s debate, the criticism on that front pretty much shut down. Now Senator Clinton can nail him on specifics. Her message has switched from “Hope versu action” to hitting him on negative campaigning in his comparrison of their health care plans and NAFTA. Suddenly the campaign has moved to policy questions, and Clinton is probably very happy that she doesn’t have to run against “Hope” anymore.

Tags: obama, campaign, election, supernova earth

<clipSource>http://supernovaearth.org/2008/02/25/in-response-to-obam-ania/</clipSource>

UN / Google Censor Journalist Matthew Lee

clipped by: creepysleepy
clipper's remarks: I work with Matthew at the UN - every day we attend briefings, stakeouts and meetings together. You can use the code “inoveryourhead” if you’re going to buy one, it’ll give you a 15% rebate on it (which is cheaper than Amazon).

So the plan is to do them every 10-14 days or so… feel free to harass me if I don’t (Podshow will, otherwise). :)

Finally, the Senate voted 68 to 29 to approve legislation that the White House had been pushing for months. Mr. Bush hailed the vote and urged the House to move quickly in following the Senate’s lead.

The outcome in the Senate amounted, in effect, to a broader proxy vote in support of Mr. Bush’s wiretapping program.

Tags: senate, politics, privacy, civil rights, bush

<clipSource>http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/13/us/13fisa.html?ref=todayspaper</clipSource>

URGENT: Oppose Telecom Immunity and Tell Your Senator to Vote "No on Cloture"

clipped by: creepysleepy
clipper's remarks: From the EFF, a brief explanation of the upcoming FISA and telecom bill. As early as Monday, the Administration and its allies are trying to end Senate debate on FISA and telecom immunity and force a vote on the Senate Intelligence Committee's bill -- a bill that would broadly expand the executive branch's spying powers while granting immunity to telecoms that broke the law and assisted in the NSA's illegal domestic spying.

Now is the time to urge your Senators to vote no on "cloture" to keep the debate going!

Every time you've taken action to fight against immunity, it's made a huge difference. In November, your calls and emails helped to ensure that the Senate Judiciary Committee did not include telecom amnesty in its surveillance bill, and in December your calls and emails helped convince Harry Reid to delay the vote until January. Both times, the pundits assumed we didn’t stand a chance, and both times we proved them wrong.

Tags: fisa, obama, clinton, executive branch, government, domestic spying

<clipSource>https://secure.eff.org/site/Advocacy?JServSessionIdr004=gii93lgvw1.app8a&cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=356</clipSource>

Database with US pre-Iraq War Claims

clipped by: creepysleepy
clipper's remarks: Nifty site that allows the user to look over all the speeches, briefings, and information used to both go into Iraq and how the invasion was justified.

Clip Source: www.nytimes.com

<NYT_HEADLINE _moz-userdefined="" type=" " version="1.0">
