Brad Pitt visited the Laguna Seca MotoGP this year, as the Hollywood star has always been open about his motorcycling interests. At the Yamaha pit stop on Valentino Rossi, Brad Pitt praised the rider, saying: “We’re public personalities, we shouldn’t have idols to venerate. But I have one that’s bigger than all the rest: Valentino Rossi. I would give anything to be like him. That guy is a real magician. He would be capable of hypnotising me. It doesn’t seem possible, because he looks like he weighs only 30 kilos, but he has a speed and balance.

He can lie on the track, next to the bike, but without falling. It’s a dance, it’s pure art. Rossi has won the eighth title without bragging. He remains calm, filled with a sense of internal balance that doesn’t seem human, he escapes mortality. For me, watching him in action, is like reading poetry.”

Siedmiu roznegliżowanych włoskich badaczy uniwersyteckich w prowokacyjnym geście wystawiło się na sprzedaż na internetowej aukcji e-Bay. Protestują w ten sposób przeciwko planowanym przez rząd Silvio Berlusconiego cięciom w nakładach na naukę.

Mężczyźni, przedstawieni na załączonym zdjęciu jedynie w skarpetkach i z listkami figowymi na tle napisu "na sprzedaż", wyjaśnili w swej ofercie: "Byliśmy i tak już w majtkach, a teraz chcą nam i to odebrać".

Naukowcy podkreślili, że "z powodu całkowitego zaprzestania działalności badawczej" wystawiają się na sprzedaż "w całej grupie lub indywidualnie, w różnych rozmiarach i modelach".

- Materiały wielokrotnego użytku, niskie koszty utrzymania, niska konsumpcja, można wyrzucić po wykorzystaniu - głosi aukcyjna oferta zamieszczona obok fotografii. It is probably the greatest answer to the stock question about who you would most like to be. Jorge Lorenzo, a maverick Spaniard who once hired Russell Crowe's Gladiator costume to celebrate a win, said that he would want the grace of Gandi, the imagination of Gaudí and the skill of Rossi.

Unlike the other candidates, Rossi has dragged his sport into the mainstream via a neon personality and post-race stunts involving dwarves, chicken costumes and Portaloos. There have been great rivalries and feuds, an infamous punch-up behind the podium and blunt summaries of those he dislikes. Honda, his former employer, were labelled “bastards”; Sete Gibernau, his rival, “a baby”; and Max Biaggi, his nemesis and recipient of that right hook in Barcelona in 2001, “a liar”. Rossi's journey to tomorrow has been a white-knuckle dust-up.

Rossi was supposed to be here, starting work on what he called the 2008.5 M1. His team are here but it looks like it's been a heavy night for the Doc. Even Jerry Burgess looks little pale. The now eight-times world champion is obviously still sleeping it off.

Off to the plane and then to Australia.

He won today with a Norrick Abe sticker on his helmet, a tribute to the Japanese 500cc race winner who died almost a
year ago in a traffic accident. A Japanese journalist asked him about the tribute and received as elegant, human and
charming an answer as you could hope for. Vale explained how when he first came to the 125s there was a gang of fast
Japanese riders who he liked and was great friends with, and how he was so happy to see them this weekend - Ueda,
Tokodume, Sakata and 'my teacher' Haruchika Aoki. But it was the Japanese GP of 1995 that made the young Rossi a
Norrick fan - he nearly wore out the video of that race. With typical attention to detail Vale's helmet sticker
showed a red bike with the green numbers - that was the Honda that Abe rode in that famous wild-card race , not the
Yamaha of his fulltime GP career.

Niemiecki dentysta obezwładnił pacjentkę w jej domu, a następnie wyciągnął z jej ust mostek dentystyczny. Zrobił to dlatego, iż pacjentka odmówiła zapłaty za jego usługi - "Daily Telegraph".

Stomatologiem, mieszkańcem Neu-Ulm (Bawaria), zajmuje się teraz lokalna policja. Prowadzone jest dochodzenie w sprawie wykonanie niechcianej operacji przy pomocy narzędzi medycznych.

Według funkcjonariuszy, medyk wtargnął do mieszkania 35-latki i nic nie mówiąc wepchnął kobietę do salonu i związał jej ręce.

Następnie zmusił ją do otwarcia ust i usunął jej mostek, który wcześniej sam wstawił, ale za co nie dostał pieniędzy od firmy ubezpieczeniowej.

Według ofiary, mężczyzna wykonując wszystkie te czynności w ogóle się nie odzywał.

Jeśli lekarz zostanie skazany zapewne nie uniknie konsekwencji zarówno ze strony firmy ubezpieczeniowej, jak i stowarzyszenia dentystycznego - donosi "Daily Telegraph".

The world loves Wikipedia, flocks to Flickr, and listens to Last.fm. And why not? Web 2.0 sites like them harness collective knowledge, promote interaction and communication, and improve the more you use them.

How do you identify a dumb Web 2.0 site? First, the site's mission statement must be impenetrable. ("Spotback is a personalized rating system that recommends relevant content based on personal rating history using collaborative filtering and aggregated knowledge technologies." Huh?) Second, the site must solve a problem that has been solved a million times already or didn't need solving in the first place. Third, its name must love the letter "r" but eschew vowels ( Drivl, Grazr, Hngry), or be a refugee from "Jabberwocky" ( CurdBee, Egghub, Humyo, Jiffle).

Colin Edwards says he will "get naked and run down the front straight" if he wins the inaugural Indianapolis Grand Prix on Sunday - and Valentino Rossi may do the same!

During Thursday's pre-event press conference, the riders were asked if they planned to start any new Indy MotoGP race-winning traditions this weekend. The winner of the Indy 500 traditionally climbs up the trackside fencing, while the Indy NASCAR winner kisses the yard of bricks.

"Just get naked and running down the front straight," suggested Edwards, who is still chasing his first grand prix victory. "Start it here. (Laughter), I'll do it. (Laughter)."

World championship leader Rossi, who has won the last three MotoGP races and will set a new all-time 500cc/MotoGP record if he takes his 69th win on Sunday, was then asked for his opinion:

"I agree with Colin. (Laughter). Naked."

Pewien Chińczyk, który przysiągł, że nie jest dłużnikiem sąsiada, został trafiony piorunem zaledwie minutę po tym, jak w swojej uroczystej przysiędze powołał się na Boga.

Mężczyzna złożył przysięgę na oczach gromadki sąsiadów zapewniając, że wbrew deklaracjom jednego z nich, nigdy nie pożyczał od niego pieniędzy i już kilka chwil później upadł na ziemię porażony błyskawicą.

Rossi to be Mayor for a day

Valentino Rossi will be nominated Mayor of his home town of Tavullia for a day before the end of the year, a town council meeting held trackside at Misano today has decided.

The council's tables, chairs and regalia were transported ten miles down the road to the Rossi fan club's Brutapela grandstand - at the circuit's Rio corners - where the meeting was held at midday.

Rossi was not present, but the council members will make the current MotoGP championship leader Mayor of his home town in honour of his achievements.

It remains to be seen if the instigation takes place before or after the season's close, in which Rossi may well win another title.

Rossi reportedly remarked that he wouldn't overwork his mother, Stefania, too much during his day in office, as the Yamaha rider wanted her to have enough time to make him his lunch.

Max he characterizes as strong on a two-stroke but 'not a lot of problem' on a four-stroke. However, Biaggi had 'strong media power' and in the beginning that caused a few problems with the Italian press.

Gibernau, says Vale, was 'faster than Max and good on a four-stroke.' Sete's problem was that got too wound up before a race and arrived with "too much emotion and aggression, so he make mistakes.'

Which brings us to Stoner. "He is very, very fast, especially at the limit. He knows it and uses it—you need a great feeling for that.'

And Casey's ability to ride the Ducati that no-one else can master? Valentino spreads the fingers on both hands then brings them together so they interlock: "Perfect fit."

"However, he knows he is the best and therefore does not respect his rivals; I have to give him a problem."

I think it is safe to say that Valentino has done just that.

Stoner, told MCN: “ He said sorry. But sincerely I am not angry with him. I know when you lose that type of battle you are pissed off.

"After the race you are hot with a lot of adrenaline and it is possible to say something that is wrong. Also I have done the same in the past.

"So maybe when he saw another time the race on the TV he understands he made some mistake when he said those things. But I’m ready to do another race like this on Sunday.”

Stoner admitted that on reflection he had overreacted with his post Laguna comments which saw him say he ‘lost a little bit of respect for Valentino.'

"I have always had the greatest respect for Valentino. I have watched him racing for many, many years and I think it is 12 years since the first time he has won and that is an incredibly long time.

"It would be great if I could be here in another six to eight years and still winning Grand Prix. That would be a privilege for me, “said the 22-year-old.

A meeting is taking place right now between Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna boss) and the MotoGP riders. The subject? A one tyre rule?

Is this really necessary? All they have to do is wait for Honda to finally lose patience with Michelin--the 'Blade that won the 8 Hour was on Bridgestones--and we'll have a single-tyre supplier by default without having to write any rules.
