I hate to play the religious advocate here, but let us consider for a moment that there is indeed an afterlife. I wonder how many marriages fail in the afterlife? I’m sure it would be a good percentage. That is when you are faced with the numbers in real time. An actual conscience eternity involved exclusively in a relationship with only one chick. That is a frightening concept at the very least. Anyone who finds anything good in that is either not thinking logically or has some evil chick staring at him intently as he reads this and must play it cool.

1. No definitive history is known for the date, but several theories exist to explain the origin of April Fools' Day. One cites 1582, when Pope Gregory XIII called for his followers to adopt a new calendar (which became known as the Gregorian calendar) calling January 1 the first day of the year. This replaced the Julian calendar, which cited April 1 as the first day. People who either refused to accept the new calendar or didn't know it existed were ridiculed as April Fools.

6. Famous Pranks: Google has been known to trick its users on April Fools' by announcing bogus new features such as the MentalPlex which would read a user's mind to determine what he wanted to search for. It has also posted job listings for its planned research center on the moon, and unveiled the Google Gulp, a new drink that would work in conjunction with Google searches, activating the brain's neurotransmitters to make the user/drinker more intelligent.

Pi Day and Pi Approximation Day are two unofficial holidays held to celebrate the mathematical constant π (Pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (3/14 in American date format), due to pi being equal to roughly 3.14.

March 14 happens to be Albert Einstein's birthday, among others, and it is common to sing "Happy birthday Dear Albert".

How to Celebrate Pi Day

1. Create some pi ambiance. Just like people display a tree and mistletoe, wear Christmas gear, and sing Christmas songs around Christmas, there is a lot of room for making the environment around you reminiscent of pi. You can wear a pi t-shirt--this idea can be taken further to include pi jewelry (maybe a necklace whose beads represent the numbers in pi), a pi mug or clock, or other pi paraphernalia.

Two-thirds of blog readers discover blogs by links on other blogs, according to a new report by Vizu Answers and Ad Age.

Recommendations account for another 23% of blog finds.

The fact that blog awareness is effectively spread by word-of-mouth is key for anyone using one in a campaign. Not only can you not build it and expect them to come, you cannot even build it and optimize it for search and expect them to come. Blog launches must be accompanied by links on established blogs, and some good recommendations from established, influential bloggers.

There does not seem to be a dominant type of information blog readers seek out. Again, this makes them an appealing group, open to buzz and new ideas.

Blogs, like podcasting and virtual worlds such as Second Life, offer a passionate niche audience. At the same time, they typically are not suited for repurposed content, and require special attention from marketers to work well as part of a campaign.

Condom device wins Most Beautiful award

Design Indaba update: a condom applicator designed to help AIDS prevention has been named the Most Beautiful Object in South Africa by Dutch designer Jurgen Bey.

Bey, who was in Cape Town to speak at the Design Indaba conference last week, selected the product from a shortlist of 15 products at the Design Indaba Expo.

The applicator, invented by Willem van Rensburg and designed by industrial designer Roelf Mulder of South Africa’s XYZ Design, allows a condom to be put on easily and rapidly.

The user holds the device with the thumb and forefinger of both hands, pulling the condom down over the penis in a single rapid movement. See video demonstrations of the product here and here.

It is hoped the design will encourage the use of condoms, thereby helping reduce the spread of AIDS.

The applicator, which was selected for the SAFE exhibition at MoMA in New York two years ago and is in the museum’s permanent collection is now being marketed and sold under
