Why it’s cool: Aside from putting most of the blame on the user (big no-no), it’s a very funny cause-and-effect chart for how to deal with a 404 page.

Why it’s cool: A lot of attention to detail. Apart from the 404-related spoof article, there is even the caption under the President Bush photo: “In a speech given this morning, President Bush outlined his plan to combat missing content on the Internet.” (And also note the reference, bottom right if you visit the page, to the classic “All your base are belong to us”.)

Proxy servers which work in the U.A.E. for now..

Since I'm in hell, uh, the U.A.E. at the moment, they all seem to work alright.

A proxy service doesn’t have to be for the shady segment of internet users. There are plenty of legitimate uses for a proxy. Perhaps you just don’t like being tracked via your real IP address and wish to remain in the shadows. Or perhaps you like to surf the web at work and your IT department has decided to block your favourite websites. By using a proxy server, you can bypass those restrictions and surf at will.

1. Corpask.com - apparently shows you coming from Texas.

2. MProxy - this one looks interesting. It allows you to remove cookies and scripts as well as encrypting the URL and the cookies.

3. Hide This - Works fine although it asked me for a password when I tried to access one of my websites. Strange.

4. Da Net Surfer - another one that allows you to strip away information such as cookies and scripts.

5. Fox Surf - seems to be no relation to Firefox!

Tonight was the season premiere of season 6 of American Idol. Now I’m not one to watch American Idol, I haven’t watched any of the last four seasons, but since the miracle of Comcast DVR has finally decided to present itself in my parent’s house I figured I’d check it out when I got home tonight. Furthermore, I don’t even know how many people watch American Idol anymore, but seeing as it is still on television, there must be an audience somewhere. While we were losing mass brain cells to tonight’s episode, my friend Jack had the epiphany that we could find these poor deranged souls on the internet. In this day and age, almost anything can be found on the internet, prospective Idol contestants included. We managed to dig up the profiles of 11 such individuals, which I now present to you in order of ridiculousness. (Disclaimer: Those who are featured here may be upset, embarrassed, enraged, annoyed about me posting about them on my website and linking to their myspace. My response to you is: You just made an ass out of yourself on national televison. What the fuck did you think you were getting into when you went on American Idol. For those of you who can actually sing, congratulations and I hope you don’t have any n00ds on the internet. Seriously.)
