Where you find it: http://www.nextwaveperformance.com/404

Why it’s cool: A lot of attention to detail. Apart from the 404-related spoof article, there is even the caption under the President Bush photo: “In a speech given this morning, President Bush outlined his plan to combat missing content on the Internet.” (And also note the reference, bottom right if you visit the page, to the classic “All your base are belong to us”.)
Dog and duck? And we really liked the explanation text as well.
There are plenty of legitimate uses for a proxy. Perhaps you just don’t like being tracked via your real IP address and wish to remain in the shadows. Or perhaps you like to surf the web at work and your IT department has decided to block your favourite websites. By using a proxy server, you can bypass those restrictions and surf at will.

1. Corpask.com - apparently shows you coming from Texas.

2. MProxy - this one looks interesting. It allows you to remove cookies and scripts as well as encrypting the URL and the cookies.

3. Hide This - Works fine although it asked me for a password when I tried to access one of my websites. Strange.

4. Da Net Surfer - another one that allows you to strip away information such as cookies and scripts.

5. Fox Surf - seems to be no relation to Firefox!

Tags: internet, proxy, sites, technology, computers

<clipSource>http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/seriously-baby-im-on-the-beach-in-jamaica/</clipSource>

I'm from the Internet

clipped by: coconutshell
clipper's remarks:

Clip Source: xkcd.com

Now I’m not one to watch American Idol, I haven’t watched any of the last four seasons, but since the miracle of Comcast DVR has finally decided to present itself in my parent’s house I figured I’d check it out when I got home tonight. Furthermore, I don’t even know how many people watch American Idol anymore, but seeing as it is still on television, there must be an audience somewhere. While we were losing mass brain cells to tonight’s episode, my friend Jack had the epiphany that we could find these poor deranged souls on the internet. In this day and age, almost anything can be found on the internet, prospective Idol contestants included. We managed to dig up the profiles of 11 such individuals, which I now present to you in order of ridiculousness. (Disclaimer: Those who are featured here may be upset, embarrassed, enraged, annoyed about me posting about them on my website and linking to their myspace. My response to you is: You just made an ass out of yourself on national televison. What the fuck did you think you were getting into when you went on American Idol. For those of you who can actually sing, congratulations and I hope you don’t have any n00ds on the internet. If it’s already leaning, it doesn’t require the italic tags (probably already in the stylesheet).

Soundclick is a popular music site on the internet that allows users to listen to many high-quality music streams. Any file you can play on the site, you can keep to play on your system forever -- for free!
Soundclick saves the streaming music files within your hidden Temporary Internet Files folder on your computer.
1. Visit SoundClick.com in IE
2. Click the hi-fi links of whatever songs you want. You can skip to the next song once you start hearing the song. Once you hear it, it is downloaded to your computer.
3. Click Start
4. Click Search
5. In the All or Part of Filename box type: .m3u
6. In the Look in: dropdown box click Browse
7. In the Browse for Folder box paste the following after replacing username with your xp username:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

You will not be able to directly browse to this folder; therefore, you must enter it manually.

8. Then click the Search button
9. The files you originally clicked as hi-fi above will appear in your search box.

Move these files out of your temporary directory.
10. Rename them to mp3 files as right now they are labeled as m3u files.

Getting SoundClick Files in Firefox:

1. Visit SoundClick
2. Click on the hi-fi links
3. In the firefox address bar, type the following and his Enter:
about:cache?device=memory
4.
