You can find out more about Halsman here : www.temple.edu/photo/photographers/halsman/phbio.html and i fully reccomend looking at some more of his work - his collaborations with Salvador Dali were some of the most innovative work around.

And something to note - you could do this in photoshop now easily but Halsman did not - this was shot live. It took 26 tries to get it over five hours - Halsman counted to four, Dali leapt, 3 assistants threw the cats, one threw the water from a bucket and Halsman's wife held the chair. Its all done in the camera.

Video interviewing for a job has become a growing trend, WALLACE IMMEN finds. But there are some issues to consider before you're ready for your close-up

As though job interviews were not enough for a serious case of the nerves, a fast-growing trend is toward video interviewing as an alternative to face-to-face meetings.

In a personal encounter, an interviewer puts a majority of attention on what a person is saying but in video, appearance and presentation become predominant, Mr. Mindszenthy says.

Other common faults are fidgeting or appearing to be daydreaming, which are magnified when the face is the only thing the interviewer can see, Mr. Orlikow adds.

Dress tastefully.

Make a pit stop

Speak with conviction

Use a prop

Be yourself

Watch your body language

Listen before answering. Pause for two seconds, which seems like a long time but it makes you seem thoughtful and introspective.

The ultimate hero in "Heroes"

It is my belief that there is a hero more powerful than all the other heroes combined, including Sylar and Peter Petrelli.

This hero is Mr. Muggles.

Mr. Muggles has survived an encounter, completely unscathed, with the two most dangerous characters on the show: Sylar and the radioactive man.

Matt has psychic powers, but cannot read Mr. Muggle's thoughts.

In episode 15, Claire's mom recognizes Mr. Muggles as a threat and Claire discovers her in the kitchen screaming at him in horror. Minutes later, Claire's mom appears to forget the incident and becomes complacent and loving (Mr. Muggles erasing her memory?).

Mr. Muggles is immortalized in a painting hanging in the Bennets' home. Loving gesture...or the work of Issac Mendez? You decide.

Mr. Muggles appears to be the loving center of the Bennet family that ties them together, possibly representing the disfunctional unity of the heroes.

Not really Canadian?

Liberal MP Andrew Telegdi, vice-chair of the citizenship and immigration committee, called for Parliament to pass a new law for the Canadians who should never have lost their citizenship in the first place.

"I mean, it just defies logic," Telegdi told CBC News. "The system doesn't make any sense, so it's critical that we have a citizenship act that is in compliance with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the generosity of what Canadians believe."

What the frick?!!?! Another 8 months until they get "reinstated"? Does that mean they've got to take the test again and stuff?

Passport applicants find they're not Canadian

Hundreds of people are suddenly discovering that they are not Canadians as new laws requiring travellers to have a passport to fly to the U.S. go into effect Tuesday, CBC's investigative unit has learned.

Many applying for a Canadian passport have been informed their chance to remain a citizen expired years ago because of an obscure provision in the Citizenship Act, a little-known law that applied between 1947 and 1977.

The law states that if you lived outside Canada on your 24th birthday and failed to sign the right form, you automatically lost your citizenship.

Barbara Porteous applied for a passport last year and was told in a letter from Citizenship and Immigration that she would have to apply to become a landed immigrant after spending most of her 70 years in Canada.

"These documents confirm you were a Canadian citizen, but you ceased being a Canadian citizen on June 14, 1960, the day following your 24th birthday," the letter read.

A Canadian born in the U.S. to a Canadian father, Porteous has lived in Osoyoos, B.C., for the last 46 years and even worked as a returning officer for Elections Canada.

Porteous is part of a group known as the Lost Canadians. According to Canadian census data, there are an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 people in Canada who could find out they've lost their citizenship if they apply for a passport.

Citizenship and Immigration Minister Diane Finley acknowledged the provisions are unfair and said the government would shift its policy to fast-track the process of becoming a citizen for these people.

Prior to this week, Canadians without status would have to apply to become landed immigrants — a process that takes three years or more.

Now, they will be able to apply for a grant of citizenship in just eight months.

"We're trying to right the wrongs of the past and do the reasonable thing, the right thing, for what are essentially Canadians in all but name," Finley told CBC News in an exclusive interview.

Thanks, E. I'm not sure it compares to the beautiful atrocity of O Holy Night, but I do like that it comes from the pure place of something he tortures his wife with.

UPDATE: I talked to Drew over at Toothpaste for Dinner, and it's a complete coincidence that this was the drawing he put up on the same day I posted the story above.

Mario Hoops Halloween Cute Overload

Sure, Hallowe'en is over, but that doesn't mean the recapping is gonna end. Especially when you've got a monitor smashingly cute photo of a grown man and a little boy (about the size of 3 stacked DVD cases) sporting respective Luigi and Mario costumes playing a little b-ball.

These two took part in the Nickelodeon Studio Costume Contest, but some how managed to not win. I guess total ADORABILITY wasn't factored in during the judging process.

I can't wait to have a kid, so that I can dress him or her up in all manner of embarrassing game themed costumes. *sigh*
