Nigeria of all places, is a world top 10 exporter of crude oil.

"It's a disappointing end to a lot of good things that happened this season," Belichick said. "We played a lot of good football, but we're certainly disappointed about the way it ended. We came so close, but it just didn't work out.

"It takes a lot to get to this point, but now it's starting over, into the '08 season. It's already time to move on. We're into the offseason and that's just the way it is. We'll start moving ahead toward next year."

A cooling-off period is important before making important decisions, such as whether to retire, Belichick said.

"I have said this in previous years and I would say it every year," he said. "I don't think the day after the season is a great time to make decisions about anything.

"It's time to move on," Belichick said. "I'm not going to sit here and dwell on anything, good or bad, that happened in the past. It is what it is. We played our last game of the '07 season."

I’m pretty convinced discipling is a lost art in Christianity.

Discipling, real discipling, takes commitment from both the student and the teacher. And commitment in today’s buffet of quick fix lifestyles is rare.

Most of you who know me also know I’m pretty old school. But, that’s old school in my work ethic and commitment, not necessarily in my teaching styles.

It’s old school in that when I became a follower of Jesus, I read the Bible and worked to do what it said.

As I grew in my faith, I remember finding the Great Commission where Jesus commanded his followers to… “go and make disciples of all nations… and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you….”

I began changing inside. My purpose in this world was brought into clarity. One of my first reactions was to question why not one church I had ever attended had mentioned the Great Commission.

Extensive Journey in Jerusalem

We, me-Rachel Snelen, my twin sis-Melody, our mom-Joy, and Emma Hustad, started out our day by having devotions on the veranda overlooking the city gates, at the King David Hotel. It was a perfect backdrop as we read from our Bibles about events that took place in this very city thousands of years ago!

“As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore!” Psalm 125:2

Once we arrived inside the Old City, we were quickly drawn to a BELIEVERS bookstore! We went inside instantly and started looking around. Emma struck up a conversation with the owner and asked if he had any gospel tracts we could pass out.

However, we were warned to be careful when passing out tracts, because you can get arrested if caught sharing the gospel with anyone under 18 years old! Who knew?

ICTA Christian Pro Tennis Team Explores Galilee!

If you’re just picking up on this blog, my name’s Rachel Snelen and I had the outstanding privilege of visiting the Holy Land with my twin sis, Melody, our mom Joy Snelen, and our missions friend, Emma Hustad.

To begin our journey to Galilee, we first needed to pick up a rental car.

By God’s grace, we managed to navigate safely and accurately through Jerusalem and arrived to the main highway to Galilee.

Our attention was frequently drawn to the mountain sides as we noticed the many herds of sheep scattered throughout the terrain.

It reminded us of our essential need for The Good Shepherd (Psalm 93)…someone to protect us from danger, one to “herd” us in the right direction, someone to be patience with our ignorance…it’s all completely relevant.

We watched the phenomenal sunset illuminate the sky with a glow that celebrated God’s greatness!

It was a fitting moment to… “stop and consider God’s wonders.” Job 37:14

International Christian Tennis Association Tennis Team Explores Galilee and Mt. of Beatitudes!

WOW! Here we go again on yet another fabulously adventurous day through the astonishing land of Israel.

Our adventure throughout the Galilee region started at Tabgha.

A friendly priest took us to a peaceful section of the monastery and shared some insight about the outstanding events that took place here.

We read from the Bible, shared our thoughts and sang old hymns.

It was such a pleasant, inspirational morning.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

Seeing the majestic mountains and scenery made my appreciation for God’s handy work intensify even more.

After seeing so much of God’s beauty in His chosen land, I can’t agree more with Psalms 14:1 where it states–The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

It’s absolute folly to believe in anything other than our Intelligent Designer!

It’s been a pleasure having you come along on our excursion through the Holy Land.

After finishing up our fabulous days in Galilee, we (me-Rachel Snelen, my twin- Melody Snelen, Emma Hustad-our Fellowship of Christian Athletes mission partner, and my mom- Joy) made our way to Tel Aviv, where our ITF Pro circuit tennis tournament was being held.

We thank God that they were willing to sacrifice earthly comforts and conveniences to spread the Gospel…for the sake of you and me!

I will always be highly appreciative for all the outstanding blessings God’s granted me…this journey being one of them.

When we arrived in Tel Aviv we found an empty tennis court (which is very rare) at the Israel Tennis Center and got some hitting in.

Our matches are tomorrow!

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) -- French Open organizers filed suit Friday in a bid to ban online gambling companies from offering bets on the Grand Slam tournament.

The French federation is suing three companies -- Betfair, Bwin and Ladbrokes -- with a court injunction to stop them from taking bets on the French Open. It seeks a fine of $75,000 a day for any violations, said Vilotte's lawyer, Jean-Louis Dupont.

When Vilotte monitored the ATP Masters Series tournament in Paris, which the French federation also organizes, he said bets over the weeklong event totaled between $750 million and $1.5 billion.

"You can imagine that for Roland Garros, the totals would be much higher," he said.

what i love is that a player can also be a coach. that is, they can give advice which can benefit others.

payton and eli manning are brothers and top nfl quarterbacks. they are players, yet great coaches for each other.

tom coughlin said it right when he stated eli is great at not getting too high or too low.

great nfl advice for all tennis players and coaches, plus anyone in general.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Take it from Peyton Manning: He's ready to get some advice from his kid brother.

"He said I'm past the point where he can give me advice anymore," Eli Manning said Monday, grinning while recalling his phone call with his older brother. "He wants it the other way now. I don't know if I agree with him, but it's great to hear it from him."

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Eli hasn't changed. He's just getting more credit now for doing what he has been doing all along.

"His temperament is so great. He stays out of the valley, and doesn't get up on the peak," the coach said. "He's mentally taking charge of everything. He's in a position where he leads his team to victory. He likes that spot."

"We know what he's capable of," Coughlin said, "and he's just scratching the surface of it."

Eli Manning did acknowledge that his brother gave him some advice for the Super Bowl.

"He said, 'This is fun, just take it all in,"' he said.

"In my mind a lot of teams do that (have playoff failures)," 2006 MVP LaDainian Tomlinson said. "A lot of teams have to go through a lot of failures and disappointments before they get over the hump."

Scott Paschal Laughs at ATP Ban

Maybe the ATP should go after the Russian mafia for robbing Anna C of $300,000 in her Moscow home three nights ago, instead.

The attack and ban on the Italian players is a joke. Who is in charge of this mess?

I know people at the ATP. Some are members of my ministry, the International Christian Tennis Association. They all generally have good hearts.

But guys, this is overkill. Find the real bad guys. Go after them, not kids.

2 Italian tennis players suspended for betting on matches

ROME (AP) -- The ATP suspended Italians Potito Starace and Daniele Bracciali on Saturday for making bets -- some as little as $7 -- on tennis matches involving other players.

The Italian tennis federation denounced the penalties by the governing body as an "injustice," and the players said they have been made scapegoats.

Starace, ranked 31st, was suspended for six weeks and fined $30,000, the Italian federation said. Bracciali, ranked 258th, was banned for three months and fined $20,000. Both suspensions take effect Jan. 1.

The federation said Starace made five bets for a total of $130 two years ago, and Bracciali made about 50 bets of $7 each from 2004-05.

"Injustice is done," the statement said. "These penalties are absolutely, excessively severe compared to the magnitude of the violations carried out by the two players."

"It's disgusting," Starace said. "The ATP doesn't know where to turn. It's all a joke."

Russian tennis star Anna Chakvetadze tied up, robbed by thieves at home

MOSCOW (AP) -- Russian tennis star Anna Chakvetadze was tied up by masked robbers who broke into her home Tuesday and stole money and goods worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, her father said.

Chakvetadze, ranked No. 6 and a 2007 U.S. Open semifinalist, was bound for 30 minutes in her home outside Moscow but not seriously hurt, NTV television reported.

Six assailants approached the home before dawn, tied up a maid in another building and forced her to hand over a remote control enabling them to enter the house through the garage, Dzhamal Chakvetadze told NTV.

"They started to beat me, and I resisted. They hit me over the head with, I think, a pistol butt. It was dark," he said, taking off his cap to show his bruised scalp. "They took out a pistol and told me my child was at home -- reminded me -- and they told me to hand everything over. I did."

Davydenko's lawyer, Frank ImmengaI, said Friday that ATP investigators told him that nine people based in Russia had bet $1.5 million on Davydenko losing the match to Arguello. Another two gamblers, whose location isn't known, boosted the total amount waged to $6.9 million, he said.

Davydenko said he believes his body is breaking down partly because of fatigue and mental stresses. Every year, he plays one of the heaviest schedules on the men's tour -- a schedule that he said he would curtail next year.

Christian Tennis Reports Haas Poisoning

"He said as an aside, that it was bitter that Tommy Haas was poisoned," said Waske, who answered the man by saying that it was a virus. "Thereupon he said, 'No, they poisoned him."'

Haas said he will fly Thursday from Argentina to his home in the United States for a complete checkup. Germany team doctor Erich Rembeck had done a checkup and run blood tests while the player was sick, but said they were only for a virus.

"I'm shocked that something like that appears possible," said Haas, ranked 13th in the world. "When I think of how bad I felt, I can imagine it. I've been feeling weak for weeks."

Rembeck didn't rule out tampering with Haas' food or drinks. He said the German staff drew up meal plans, but the kitchen staff at the hotel prepared what ended up on the players' plates.

"I was the only one ever to order dessert or a Latte macchiato after dinner," Haas said. "If all this is true, since no one else got sick, that must have been when it happened."

ITF to investigate suspected poisoning of Haas before Davis Cup match

STUTTGART, Germany (AP) -- The International Tennis Federation is investigating allegations that Tommy Haas was poisoned before Germany's Davis Cup match against Russia.

Haas was forced out of his match against Mikhail Youzhny with a suspected stomach virus. Russia won both reverse singles matches on Sept. 23 to win the semifinal series 3-2 and reach the Davis Cup final.

"We take this very seriously," ITF spokeswoman Barbara Travers said Wednesday. "The investigation starts today."
