In some ways, I think that his site is even better than Seth Godin’s. A lot of people wish that Seth Godin would share more concrete techniques to practice. Chris does that.

Tags: chrisbrogan, sethgodin

<clipSource>http://realestatezebra.com/what-you-always-wanted-to-know-from-the-zebra-but-never-thought-to-ask</clipSource>

BarCamp Finally Explained

clipped by: chrisbrogan
clipper's remarks: Is *this* really the definition of BarCamp? Boy, I've been mis-defining this forever.

Clip Source: ethanzuckerman.com

The conference site says that BIL wants to be “to TED, what BarCamp is to FooCamp.” For those who don’t get the reference - FooCamp is an annual event convened by tech publisher Tim O’Reilly. FOO stands for “Friends of O’Reilly”, and the invite-only conference is a gathering of some very bright tech industry people. who are invited to camp out at O’Reilly’s corporate headquarters and design their own “unconference”. Past FooCamp attendees, including Tantek Celik, decided they’d had a great deal of fun at Foo and wanted to participate, invitation or not… hence, BarCamp, which is a joke based on the programming term “foobar”…

<clipSource>http://ethanzuckerman.com/blog/2008/01/26/bil-and-ted-an-excellent-adventure/</clipSource>

Great point about Content

clipped by: chrisbrogan
clipper's remarks: The best part is the John Perry Barlow part.

Clip Source: blogs.law.harvard.edu

Until I read this piece by Adriana Lukas this morning I hadn’t fully realized how the ubiquitous use of the word content, which I’ve griped about for years (and which Adriana quotes) frames our understanding of markets, and media, in ways that place presumed control in the hands of “providers” other than ourselves. Even UGC — “User Generated Content” — is not seen as ours, but as freight for media companies to forward for their own purposes. As John Perry Barlow put it a few years back, “I didn’t start hearing about ‘content’ until the container business felt threatened”.

<clipSource>http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/doc/2008/01/31/the-personal-platform/</clipSource>

Gimp.TV- the HBO of the Internet

clipped by: chrisbrogan
clipper's remarks: Great compliment to the GIMP boys at Huff's house.

Clip Source: www.huffingtonpost.com

It's a new world - except that it's been around long enough that it's not all that new any more. Gimp.TV has a rich service, somewhat like a massive television network, that provides Internet TV channels offering sponsored programs. Their software assists individuals and companies for uploading their content to the Internet. These then are blended with online forums, articles, and products for sale in a significant e-commerce experience. It's no small venue - one of their programs, "Fuel Time," is sponsored by Ford. Some shows get almost 3 million downloads. They call themselves the HBO of the Internet.

Tags: video, internetvideo

<clipSource>http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-j-elisberg/the-writers-workbench-c_b_84067.html</clipSource>

Human Interface Consideration

clipped by: chrisbrogan
clipper's remarks: Thinking about namespace and how we design and program the web. It's ours to program, so how do we do this in a way that's shareable by others.

Clip Source: jonudell.net

There isn't yet a Strunk and White for URI design, but the recent book RESTful Web Services, by Sam Ruby and Leonard Richardson, does touch on the subject.

For example, they recommend that when you are designing URIs, you should use forward slashes to encode hierarchy (/parent/child), commas to encode ordered siblings (/parent/child1,child2), and semicolons to encode unordered siblings (/parent/red;green).

For example, one of the folks who “get it” about PodCamp is Jeff Pulver, who, when he saw what Chris Brogan was capable of, offered him a job on the spot. PodCamp is about meeting people and learning what’s possible, what you can do, and how you can help podcasting and new media grow as a medium.

Tags: podcamp, unconference, events, christopherspenn

<clipSource>http://www.christopherspenn.com/2007/03/06/the-spirit-of-podcamp-rockstars/</clipSource>

Make Custom Twitter Groups

clipped by: chrisbrogan
clipper's remarks: From christopherspenn.com, a way to manage your Twitter.

Clip Source: www.christopherspenn.com

Tags: twitter, yahoo, pipes, yahoopipes

<clipSource>http://www.christopherspenn.com/2007/03/05/how-to-make-custom-twitter-groups/</clipSource>

From Leo's Tumbler

clipped by: chrisbrogan
clipper's remarks: Is it even more meta to clipmark a tumblr?

Clip Source: leo.tumblr.com
