In stark contrast, today's celebrities get more coverage if they take the Sean Penn/Susan Sarandon et al position, speaking at demonstrations with United for Peace and Justice and appearing alongside Code Pink marxists. Any shred of patriotism or love of country is spurned in Hollywood today. But there are consequences. As Van Helsing points out, "Hollyweenies are too drunk on moonbattery to realize that movies on Iraq acknowledging Americans as the good guys could make them some money". It goes far beyond money, though. People are turning the boob tube off, and theatres screening anti-war marxist/leninist/Stalinist Hollywood tripe are empty.

Audiences have been staying away from Tinseltown war movies like Lions for Lambs and the unconscionable Redacted in droves, for the same reason movies directed by Joseph Goebbels wouldn't have been received very warmly during World War II.

But this doesn't mean Americans have no interest in the heroics of our troops fighting terrorists in Iraq. OpinionJournal reports that war footage minus the mainstream media's defeatist spin is drawing viewers to YouTube by the millions.

Vandalism is now considered 'free speech', as long as it's on the left side of the sphere and helps the media carry water for Islamic terrorism. Recently, at least 41 Democratic Senators, joined by a howling mob including George Soros’ Media Matters, sought to silence Rush Limbaugh because of his reference to “phony” anti war soldiers. Limbaugh’s comments, taken in context, referred to Jesse Macbeth, a confessed and convicted phony, whose faked but graphic war crimes confessions received far wider media notice than his later confession. He had been discharged in boot camp after 40 days of service.

Macbeth follows a grand tradition of fake soldiers whose “war crimes” confessions have been used by the Left to slander the service of our troops. For example, Micah Ian Wright, author of the 2003 anti war best seller "You Back the Attack," was an Army Ranger and Combat veteran feted at USC’s Annenberg School and in media like the Washington Post until he was finally “outed” as a complete fake.

Separately, we received this statement from Major Steven F. Lamb, the deputy Public Affairs Officer for Multi National Division-Baghdad:

An investigation has been completed and the allegations made by PVT Beauchamp were found to be false. His platoon and company were interviewed and no one could substantiate the claims.

For the Iraq war's opponents, July began as a month of hope. It ended in retreat. It began with Democratic unity in proclaiming the inevitability of American defeat. It ended with respected military analysts--Democrats, no less!--reporting that the situation on the ground had improved, and that the war might be winnable. It began with a plan for a series of votes in Congress that were supposed to stampede nervous Republicans against the continued prosecution of the war. It ended with the GOP spine stiffened, no antiwar legislation passed, and the Democratic Congress adjourning in disarray, with approval ratings lower than President Bush's. It began with Democratic presidential candidates competing in their antiwar pandering. It ended with them having second thoughts--with Barack Obama, losing ground to Hillary Clinton because he seemed naive about real world threats, frantically suggesting that he would invade Pakistan.

CNN commentators keep telling us how young and hip the audience was for last week's YouTube Democratic debate, apparently unaware that the camera occasionally panned across the audience, which was the same oddball collection of teachers' union shills and welfare recipients you see at all Democratic gatherings.

Not counting talking snowmen, the main difference in the YouTube debate audience and the audience for the earlier CNN Democratic debate is that the YouTube debate had 173,000 fewer viewers in the 18-49 demographic. So it was provably not young and, on the basis of casual observation, definitely not hip.

As usual, the audience consisted mostly of public schoolteachers. According to CNN, the highest reading achieved on the CNN feelings-knob was for Richardson talking about public schoolteachers. (Some in the audience said they hadn't been that excited since the last time they had sex with an underage student.)

Something isn’t quite right about it, just from the jump. For one thing, indians and communists seem to go hand in hand; just look at Leonard Peltier, AIM and Peltier’s running for president on the communist party ticket. As I said in the post previous to this one, we have to look closely at the anti-war movement and identify just who these people are.

We need some people to parse through it from an engineering point of view to check the accuracy of the ‘truther-style’ allegations made in it.

he hated the government, he hated our military, he was tired of the things that were going on and he was going to make a point of killing one of these guys on the Fourth of July.

That wasn't in the New York Times. That wasn't in any paper anywhere in America. It was reported in the local area but story pretty much died there

If an airman, a member of the Air Force, the Marines, the Army, the National Guard,

if any of these guys would have gone out on the Fourth of July and decided to shoot a peace activist because they were tired of the peace movement

do you think that wouldn't have been on the front page of every paper on the 5th of July?
