Watches may be going out of style a bit due to the fact that most people carry around cellphones that can tell time just as well, but that doesn't mean Timex is going to stop trying to come up with new reasons for you to give them money. In fact, they just had a design contest to help them come up with forward-thinking watch ideas.

This Nail Watch entry is, well, interesting. It's designed to slip over your thumbnail, letting you tell the time just by glancing down at your hand.

You can light it up or change the mode by pressing down on the end of your thumbnail. I'm not sure what magical technologies would have to be used to create this, nor do I know how it stays on your thumbnail, but I do know that this is certainly unlike any watch I've ever seen. Whether or not it'll ever actually exist is another question entirely.

How To Photograph Fireworks

Here are some basic tips - this is not intended as an all-inclusive article, but rather a starting point.

1. Scout out and stake out your favorite spot early.

2. Use a tripod.

3. Use long shutter speeds. For most fireworks photos, an ISO of 250 with a four-second exposure at f8 should be a good starting point.

4. If your camera has a long-exposure noise reduction mode, use it.

5. DO NOT use flash. It won’t help.

6. Set your focus point to infinity and then disable autofocus.

7. Bring several formatted memory cards.

8. If possible, use a strong foreground object such as a local landmark to set the fireworks against.

9. Bring a small flashlight so you can read your camera’s dials in the dark.

10. Don’t forget to shoot both vertical and horizontal views of the fireworks…

Experiment and have fun. You’ll get the best results if you practice your technique.

Adults 'scared to approach children'

Adults are afraid to interact with other people's children because they fear being labelled a paedophile, according to a report published today by the thinktank Civitas.

The report, Licensed To Hug, calls for regulation and vetting to be relaxed because the "dramatic escalation of child protection measures has succeeded in poisoning the relationship between the generations".

In the past, the report says, adults would have routinely helped children in distress or rebuked those who were misbehaving but now think twice about the consequences. Instead, there was now "an atmosphere of mistrust".

The Milky Way galaxy suspended in a glass cube

A laser was used to etch around 80,000 of the stars in the Milky Way, using three-dimensional data from the Japan’s National Astronomical Observatory.

The reason the galaxy is positioned slightly to one side is that the Solar System (in other words, Earth) has been placed in the exact center. This is where the title “Beyond our solar system” originates.

Nobody has ever seen our galaxy from outside like this. And it is unlikely that mankind will reach anywhere with this sort of view for a very long time.

I think it is clear that this idea is a very bad idea given the state of our social retirement program and the lack of savings by most people. To see real examples, all we have to do is look at the real estate market. With people treating their homes like bank accounts it has helped fuel the housing problems we currently see, and many people are now finding out that they currently can’t get the money back that they borrowed from their equity. To argue that people will make better decisions than this with their retirement funds with access to that money at their fingertips is just foolish in my opinion.

PHOENIX, Dec. 4 — A conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol is something many people try to conceal, even from their families. But now the bleary-eyed, disheveled and generally miserable visages of convicted drunken drivers here, captured in their mug shots, are available to the entire world via a Web site.

The hall of shame is even worse for drunken drivers convicted of a felony. A select few will find their faces plastered on billboards around Phoenix with the banner headline: Drive drunk, see your mug shot here.

The tactic gets mixed reviews from M.A.D.D.

“Some parts of the Web site are good because they are informational and trying to provide the victim’s perspective,” said Misty Moyse, the spokeswoman for the group. However, she said, “M.A.D.D. would not want to be involved in calling out offenders. We are interested in research- and science-based activities proven to stop drunk driving.”

This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!! Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.
Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them. Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake.

Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up. Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and it's a great conversation piece.

In the few snatched moments he was allowed before his daughter was whisked away by doctors, Andreas Mueller spoke from his heart.

"I whispered to her: 'Kimberly, you'll make it,'" he recalled.

The size of a mobile phone: Kimberley Mueller weighed just over 10 ounces when she was born in Hanover, Germany - making her the world's smallest surviving baby

With a survival chance of less than 1,000 to one, every day she has got through since then is a triumph.

Six months later, Kimberly has finally been allowed to go home to her parents in Hanover.

"Babies as small as this usually have no chance," said Dr Oliver Moeller, a heart specialist who treated her.

Kimberly is the smallest baby ever born in Germany and the youngest to survive.

She was just 10.2 inches long and weighed little more than a packet of butter
