We try not to tease you with concepts too often, but this Ferrari V4 superbike by Israeli industrial designer Amir Glinik is just too beautiful to pass up. Packed with a modified engine from a Ferrari Enzo, hand controls from a F-16 fighter jet and buttons from a Formula 1 race car, there's not much in the world of badass that hasn't been centrifuged into the design. Under the hood:

Watches may be going out of style a bit due to the fact that most people carry around cellphones that can tell time just as well, but that doesn't mean Timex is going to stop trying to come up with new reasons for you to give them money. In fact, they just had a design contest to help them come up with forward-thinking watch ideas.

This Nail Watch entry is, well, interesting. It's designed to slip over your thumbnail, letting you tell the time just by glancing down at your hand.

You can light it up or change the mode by pressing down on the end of your thumbnail. I'm not sure what magical technologies would have to be used to create this, nor do I know how it stays on your thumbnail, but I do know that this is certainly unlike any watch I've ever seen. Whether or not it'll ever actually exist is another question entirely.

Adults 'scared to approach children'

Adults are afraid to interact with other people's children because they fear being labelled a paedophile, according to a report published today by the thinktank Civitas.

The report, Licensed To Hug, calls for regulation and vetting to be relaxed because the "dramatic escalation of child protection measures has succeeded in poisoning the relationship between the generations".

In the past, the report says, adults would have routinely helped children in distress or rebuked those who were misbehaving but now think twice about the consequences. Instead, there was now "an atmosphere of mistrust".

clipper's remarks: Total BS, I agree if you get “vaule brands” (Absolute, etc) they are all the same and the high end stuff is close to each other in comparison but I can tell an absolute from a grey goose from a Chopin (BEST) and potato vodka is the only way to go! In my opinionthere is three tiers of vodka. Normal Vodka (Absolute, etc,) for mixing with anything, High End (Grey Goose, Ketel One, etc,) I’d hate to mix it but I won’t hurt ya if you do, and High Quality Potato Vodka (Chopin, etc) that should never be mixed with anything but pure filtered ice!

In what may have been the most awesome blind taste test ever, a BusinessWeek writer served his friends chilled shots of various brands of vodka to see whether there was any noticeable difference in taste. His argument was that vodka is a neutral spirit and by definition is nearly indistinguishable from one brand to the next—and that consequently the "brand story" (including country of origin) is really all that separates a Grey Goose drinker from a Ketel One alkie. To test this, he asked his subjects to pick their favorite brands from shots and mixed drinks.

It turns out, no one could really tell one vodka from the other—there was one successful pick, but it wasn't repeatable. (Probably because the subjects were all half-drunk by that point.)

If You See a Father Holding His Child’s Hand, Call the Cops!

If dad goes for a walk with his daughter and holds her hand, apparently Virginia Department of Health officials wants you to pick up the phone and destroy his life by reporting him as a possible sexual abuser. I would’ve thought this article about this campaign was from the Onion or some satirical publication, but it’s for real.

One of the most beautiful pictures I’ve ever seen is a picture of my father walking on the beach near sunset holding my daughter’s little hand. The picture above of a man holding a child’s hand–a touching little scene–is actually supposed to make us think he’s sexually abusing the child. Unbelievable.

The soon to be completed Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago will be 415 meters tall and 92 stories. Donald Trumps tallest building will be about four times shorter than Prince Alwaleed's mile high building (when Alwaleed completes his building and assuming that Donald cannot get a taller building put together in the mean time.

PHOENIX, Dec. 4 — A conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol is something many people try to conceal, even from their families. But now the bleary-eyed, disheveled and generally miserable visages of convicted drunken drivers here, captured in their mug shots, are available to the entire world via a Web site.

The hall of shame is even worse for drunken drivers convicted of a felony. A select few will find their faces plastered on billboards around Phoenix with the banner headline: Drive drunk, see your mug shot here.

The tactic gets mixed reviews from M.A.D.D.

“Some parts of the Web site are good because they are informational and trying to provide the victim’s perspective,” said Misty Moyse, the spokeswoman for the group. However, she said, “M.A.D.D. would not want to be involved in calling out offenders. We are interested in research- and science-based activities proven to stop drunk driving.”

A plan to offer consumers Internet access through their home's power lines may soon come to fruition for residents of Grand Ledge, Mich.

City residents may soon benefit from an agreement between Michigan's Consumers Energy and the Los Angeles company Utility.net to test the technology in regions where Internet service is typically not available through cable or phone lines, The Detroit News said Thursday.

Grand Ledge fits the description.

"We are pleased to see our existing infrastructure being utilized to provide additional choices and options for broadband Internet access," Consumers Energy project manager Gerry Wyse said. "(Utility.net) intends to bring broadband to communities in central Michigan that have few or no broadband provider choices today."

The newspaper said the new Internet service, which uses radio frequencies to send data, could be offered on a nationwide scale if the tests prove successful.

Most Canadians would fail own citizenship test

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Most Canadians know so little about their own country that they would flunk the basic test that new

immigrants are required to take before becoming citizens, according to a poll released on Friday.

The Ipsos-Reid survey showed that 60 percent of Canadians would fail the test. A similar poll done in 1997 showed a failure rate of 45 percent.

"Canadians appear to be losing knowledge when it comes to the most basic questions about Canadian history, politics, culture and geography ... (they) performed abysmally on some questions," the firm said in a statement.

Researchers are turning cars into nodes that 'talk' to each other, forming a new type of wireless network.

As cars enter the mobile network, drivers can download multimedia - including movies, images and songs - or get real-time information about traffic.

"Say you are driving and a car that is [5 kilometres] in front of you spots an icy spot on the road. It can trigger back a signal saying, 'Look, there is an icy road'," says Dr Giovanni Pau, from the Network Research Lab at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Such a network could also give emergency first-responders a reliable channel if a natural disaster destroys communication towers or access points.

The system uses a vehicle's onboard computer, GPS, low-cost sensors, custom software written by the team, and existing wireless channels.

In the near future, vehicles will switch to the Dedicated Short Range Communications standard being developed by the US Department of Transportation.

E85 Ethanol: Money Saver or Big Hoax?

*According to the EPA, many vehicles see a 25 % or greater mileage reduction with E85!

*The new Chevy Tahoe? The EPA rates it 15/21 with gas, just 11/15 mpg with E85.

Bottom line: Car and Driver Magazine says E85 needs to be almost 30 percent cheaper than gas to save you money.

"If its gonna be a 30% decrease in fuel economy, it has to be 30% cheaper. And its not," says Stacie.

Indeed, E-85 Ethanol could help reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

But if more and more drivers report less and less mileage....it may not become the miracle fuel some would like it to be.
