clipper's remarks: This is the second year we have had a Thankfulness Tree. I have some fake branches that I put in a big vase to hold the leaves. I went to a scrapbooking store and used their die cut machine to make many many leaves from paper. If you buy the paper there, you can use the machines for free.

I punched holes in the leaves to hang on the branches without having to mess with string or glue or hangers of any sort.

I place the leaves in a bowl with a pen so any guests that come during November can write something they are thankful for on a leaf and hang it up.

On Thanksgiving we read the leaves and we give thanks for all the friends and family that have come to our house. Then I put the leaves in a bag and date it so we can read them in future years too.

Yesterday, my daughter wrote that she was thankful for "being born" and for "being in this family." I am so thankful for those things too.

Fill a flowerpot with sand and set in a shapely bare tree branch.

Next, cut a pile of leaf shapes from colored craft foam.

As your guests arrive, have them take a leaf and, with a permanent marker, write their name and the date on one side and something they're grateful for on the other.

To decorate your tree, push a large ornament hanger or straightened paper clip through the stem of each leaf and hang it in place.

At the end of the year, give the person your one-ofa- kind, 365-item appreciation list. Trust us, they will be deeply touched.

It's remarkably easy to hack LEDs into Lego minifigures to make awesome, creepy, and tiny decorations for Halloween.

In what seems like a miraculous coincidence, a standard LED fits exactly into the head of a Lego minifigure. It's that easy: grab an LED and a head, slip it in, and it fits perfectly.

The modern Lego minifigure dates to 1975-8. Since LEDs were already coming in 5 mm packages (also called T 1 3/4 packages) by the mid 1970's, it's clear that Lego minifigures were made to fit LEDs in their heads. It's a sign from above: The little yellow guys are simply meant to have light-up noggins. Who are we to argue with fate?

Moss graffiti recipe

1 can of beer
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Several clumps garden moss

You will also need a plastic container (with lid),
a blender and a paintbrush

To begin the recipe, first of all gather together several clumps of moss (moss can usually be found in moist, shady places) and crumble them into a blender. Then add the beer and sugar and blend just long enough to create a smooth, creamy consistency. Now pour the mixture into a plastic container.

Find a suitable damp and shady wall on to which you can apply your moss milkshake. Paint your chosen design onto the wall (either free-hand or using a stencil). If possible try to return to the area over the following weeks to ensure that the mixture is kept moist. Soon the bits of blended moss should begin to re-couperate into a whole rooted plant – maintaining your chosen design before eventually colonising the whole area.

1.Make a template by drawing the shapes you need freehand or printing on the computer. Tape the template to a firm, smooth work surface.

2.Fill a parchment cone with melted chocolate and trace the outlines and details of your template with a line of chocolate.

4.Fill another parchment cone with the second color of chocolate and fill in the next area with a 1/8" thick layer of chocolate, making sure to go all the way to the edge of the detail lines without going over them. Repeat with as many colors as needed, waiting about 5-10 minutes between each color.

On the final color you can cover the entire shape, as shown (above, right). This will add strength to the finished design.

5.After you've let them set for about 30 minutes, carefully peel the shapes from the paper and push into the frosting where you need them...easy!

Create Polaroids with Poladroid

clipper's remarks: I'm testing out a new application, Poladroid. Download the app for free and then drag and drop your digital photos. It creates a Polaroid-like image. For the fun factor, it takes awhile for your image to "develop" or you can shake the picture for faster development, just like a real Polaroid.

All you need is a can of paint to transform all those mismatched chairs (including the high chair) into a cool new dining set. Just keep the bottom 12" of the chair legs unpainted. It's like a paint slipcover--super fast and super easy.

Bake a batch of brownies as you normally would and using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out brownies. I baked mine in a 9×13 pan to get the most hearts out of one batch.

Download the bag graphic here and follow the directions in the PDF for printing. You’ll need a small 5×8.5″ paper bag.

Add a little more detail to the bag and scallop the top with a pair of pinking shears or rotary cutter.
