Where some book lovers have said that the book is far too big a comment on the great emperors marital life with it having a wide mention of how Jodha used her "curved, clawlike nails" on the emperor's body to drive him to the heights of sexual pleasure on the other hand, some have gone gaga over the book and have already started checking google for further details on the ancient seductive techniques.

Tags: salman rushdie

<clipSource>http://www.zeenews.com/articles.asp?aid=433407&sid=ENT</clipSource>

The real uses of enchantment

clipped by: bhai1

Clip Source: books.guardian.co.uk

The real uses of enchantment

The Enchantress of Florence

From the sea of stories our master fisherman has brought up two gleaming, intertwining prizes - a tale about three boys from Florence in the age of Lorenzo de' Medici, and a story of Akbar, greatest of the Mughal emperors, who established both the wondrous and shortlived city Fatehpur Sikri and a wondrous and shortlived policy of religious tolerance. Both stories are about story itself, the power of history and fable, and why it is that we can seldom be sure which is which.

A tall, yellow-haired young European traveller calling himself 'Mogor dell'Amore', the Mughal of Love, arrives at the court of the real Grand Mughal, the Emperor Akbar, with a tale to tell that begins to obsess the whole imperial capital. The stranger claims to be the child of a lost Mughal princess, the youngest sister of Akbar's grandfather Babar: Qara Koz, 'Lady Black Eyes', a great beauty believed to possess powers of enchantment and sorcery, who is taken captive first by an Uzbeg warlord, then by the Shah of Persia, and finally becomes the lover of a certain Argalia, a Florentine soldier of fortune, commander of the armies of the Ottoman Sultan. When Argalia returns home with his Mughal mistress the city is mesmerized by her presence, and much trouble ensues.

Tags: salman rushdie

<clipSource>http://www.oxfordbookstore.com/oxfordonline/asppages/item_final.asp?strSKU=BE20497&strSKUSrl=1&sid=4QCHJ1EMEJK28GKWF0V80QNRJBUJ9DC7</clipSource>
