'Neighbour from hell' banned from her own home

A MOTHER-OF-TWO has been banned from her own home after being slapped with an Antisocial Behaviour Order for waging a terror campaign against her neighbours.

Elizabeth Robertson was hit with the Asbo after years of complaints from residents in Prestonpans, East Lothian.

The 53-year-old was accused of aiming volleys of abuse at neighbours during drunken rants from her front garden.

Children near her home in McLeod Terrace were subjected to swearing and were intimidated while they played in the street.

One neighbour said Robertson made their lives a "living hell" for at least four years before council chiefs and police finally took action.

The Asbo was granted to East Lothian Council against Robertson at Haddington Sheriff Court on February 18 and prevents her from staying at her own home until May.

Most people infected with HIV do not know that they have become infected, because no symptoms develop immediately after the initial infection. Some people have a glandular fever-like illness (with fever, rash, joint pains and enlarged lymph nodes), which can occur at the time of seroconversion. Seroconversion refers to the development of antibodies to HIV and usually takes place between 6 weeks and 3 months after an infection has occurred (see Question 32).

Despite the fact that HIV infection does not cause any initial symptoms, an HIV-infected person is highly infectious and can transmit the virus to another person (see Question 7). The only way to determine whether HIV is present in a person's body is by taking an HIV test (see Question 31).

HIV infection causes a gradual depletion and weakening of the immune system. This results in an increased susceptibility of the body to infections and can lead to the development of AIDS

HIV stands for 'human immunodeficiency virus'. HIV is a retrovirus that infects cells of the human immune system (mainly CD4 positive T cells and macrophages—key components of the cellular immune system), and destroys or impairs their function. Infection with this virus results in the progressive depletion of the immune system, leading to 'immune deficiency'.

The immune system is considered deficient when it can no longer fulfil its role of fighting off infection and diseases. Immunodeficient people are much more vulnerable to a wide range of infections, most of which are very rare among people without immune deficiency. Diseases associated with severe immunodeficiency are known as 'opportunistic infections', because they take advantage of a weakened immune system.

Dowry in India

Definition Of Dowry :- Dowry or Dahej is the payment in cash or/and kind by the bride's family to the bridegroom' s family along with the giving away of the bride ( called Kanyadaan) in Indian marriage . Kanyadanam is an important part of Hindu marital rites. Kanya means daughter, and dana means gift.

Dowry originated in upper caste families as the wedding gift to the bride from her family. The dowry was later given to help with marriage expenses and became a form of insurance in the case that her in-laws mistreated her. Although the dowry was legally prohibited in 1961, it continues to be highly institutionalized. The groom often demands a dowry consisting of a large sum of money, farm animals, furniture, and electronics.

The practice of dowry abuse is rising in India. The most severe in “bride burning”, the burning of women whose dowries were not considered sufficient by their husband or in-laws.
