All work in India's film and television industry hub of Bollywood has been stopped today as thousands of technicians and actors have gone on strike over pay and conditions. With more, here's our South Asia correspondent Damian Grammaticas:

Dinesh Chaturvedi, head of the Federation that represents 22 unions with over 147,000 members working in the film and television business said they'd decided to halt all co-operation with industry producers. He said union members, most of whom fill the lowest paid jobs, are protesting because of abysmal pay, long shifts that can often last for up to thirty six hours and unpaid wages that can be withheld for up to six months leaving workers on the verge of starvation.

Instead Tigers should demand for equal oppurtunities for Tamils, the minority community.

The International Criminal Court's (ICC) chief prosecutor has told the BBC he will continue to push for Sudan's leader to be charged with war crimes.

Luis Moreno Ocampo said there was strong evidence that President Omar al-Bashir was behind attacks on civilians in Darfur province.

A number of countries want the UN to block the attempt to indict Mr Bashir.

"We found evidence that al-Bashir himself was controlling the attacks on these people who normally live in Darfur," Mr Ocampo told the BBC's Arabic Service.

He said local people had been raped and killed by both the Sudanese army and Janjaweed pro-government militias.

Up to 300,000 people have been killed and more than two million have been forced from their homes in Darfur since a rebellion began in 2003.

On Monday, Iran was asked by the UN's nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, for a full response to concerns about its nuclear programme.

The agency's head, Mohamed El Baradei, said that without more information from Iran, the IAEA could not provide assurances.

But Mr Ahmadinejad told the assembly that "a few bullying powers" were seeking to stop Iran's peaceful nuclear activities by exerting pressure on Iran "and also through threatening and pressuring the IAEA".

Addressing the General Assembly in New York, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran supported dialogue but would not accept "illegal demands".

One of Burma's most prominent political detainees, Win Tin, has been freed after 19 years in detention.

"I will keep fighting until the emergence of democracy in this country," he said after his release.

Now 79 years old, Win Tin was among the founders of the National League for Democracy led by Aung San Suu Kyi.

The NLD party won elections in 1989, but was prevented from taking power by Burma's generals.

A poet, editor and close aide to Ms Suu Kyi, he was originally arrested in July 1989.

Aung San Suu Kyi is still under house arrest in Rangoon

Once in jail, he received additional sentences for agitating against the military junta and distributing propaganda.

"I do not accept this constitution," he said, referring to a military-backed charter passed earlier this year and criticised heavily by the NLD.

The most prominent is Aung San Suu Kyi herself, who has been in jail or under house arrest for most of the last 19 years.

Singapore's High Court has ruled that the Far Eastern Economic Review (FEER) magazine defamed Singapore's leaders.

It ruled that the editor, Hugo Restall, also defamed Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew and his son, current Prime Minister Lee Hsein Loong.

Singapore state media reported that Justice Woo Bih Li had reached his conclusion of defamation by summary judgement, as requested by the Lees.

In such a judgement, the court makes a ruling without the case going to trial, as it agrees with the applicant that the defence arguments are baseless, the Straits Times newspaper added.

Justice Woo found the article to mean that Lee Kuan Yew "has been running and continues to run Singapore in the same corrupt manner as Durai operated NKF and he has been using libel actions to suppress those who would question to avoid exposure of his corruption", the newspaper reported.

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson told the banking panel that delaying the $700bn (£382bn) bail-out would put the entire US economy at risk.

Lawmakers say they want assurances that the plan will benefit ordinary American home-owners as well as Wall Street.

"I do not believe, however, that we can solve this crisis by spending a massive amount of money on bad securities."

But senators from both parties have voiced concerns that taxpayers would be paying a huge price for mistakes made by banks.

"The question is - is it the right action at the end of the day? You can take the wrong action, and that won't do anything for markets and the long-term process."

News of the plan late last week led to a rally, but this week has seen further falls amid concern that it could be delayed or watered down.

Investigators are reportedly examining possible fraud by mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the failed bank Lehman Brothers and insurer AIG.

The FBI has been looking at lenders who sold home loans to buyers on low or unpredictable incomes and also the investment banks that packaged these loans and sold them on.

ABC News, citing unidentified sources, said the probes were assessing whether company officials systematically misled investors about the financial strength of their institutions.

But both Democrat and Republican politicians have voiced concerns that taxpayers could be paying a high price for the risks initially undertaken by banks.

Here’s the way to make popcorn on your stove top: Pour 3 tablespoons of olive oil (or grapeseed oil if you prefer a more neutral taste) into a heavy, 3 quart or larger pan and place on medium high heat. Put two kernels in, and when one has popped, pour in 1/3 cup of pop corn (white or yellow) and cover pan. When corn begins to pop, shake constantly allowing steam to escape from popping kernels–otherwise popcorn will lose its crunch. Remove pan from heat immediately when popping stops or it will burn.
