Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School @ Trinity Gallery

This Saturday at Trinity Gallery the monthly sketching session will feature three hours of art, booze, music, burlesque performers like Hell Cat queen Little Darling, circus freaks and off-the-wall contests. Bring your pencils, pens and watercolors!

This event was founded by Molly Crabapple, illustrator for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Crabapple has launched Sketchy’s in six cities including Pheonix, Detroit and Melbourne.

clipper's remarks: an artist named Michael Leavitt pays homage to artists who he admires (both dead and alive) by creating one-of-a-kind Art Army action figures. “Made from synthetic polymer clay and elastic, the pieces range from 6- to 12 inches tall and feature art icons including Barry McGee, Banksy, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Futura 2000, Shepard Fairey, Hieronymus Bosch, Andy Warhol, Barry White, outsider Joe Coleman, Ron English, “Rat Fink” artist Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, Dale Chihuly, Jim Jarmusch, Billie Holliday and others.

Moose The Dirt Graffiti Artist of Britian

Moose, aka, Paul Curtis is widely known in Britian as being a graffiti artist by cleaning dirt from sidewalks and tunnels. Companies are starting to even pay him to sculpt dirt advertisements. Moose told NPR news that he got the idea “when he saw that people had written their names with their fingers on dirty walls in his hometown of Leeds.” The artists tools? A shoe brush, water and a lil’ elbow grease. The police officers in Britian have no idea whether to arrest him or to applaud him for cleaning up the streets. Add to Onlywire

This image featuring DaVinci's "Mona Lisa" with Van Gogh's "Starry Night" is shown at its peak. These images drawn in the dust are obviously quite impermanent. One of the cool things about them is how they change over time. More dust accumulates as the car is driven down the road. Early morning dew streaks and dots the image, creating a patina. A light shower creates a deeper patina...

Thanks to a fascinating new technique you can cover yourself in body art and no one will be the wiser – unless they see you in the dark, which is the only time these tattoos are visible. The new technique uses blacklight reactive ink, which is reactive to UV light. It’s kinda freaky but imagine the fun you could have after dark. by Billy T

Since about ten years Theo Jansen is occupied with the making of a new nature. Not pollen or seeds but plastic yellow tubes are used as the basic matierial of this new nature. He makes skeletons which are able to walk on the wind. Eventualy he wants to put these animals out in herds on the beaches, so they will live their own lives.
