Death By Cellphone! S Korea probes 'cell phone death'

Authorities in South Korea are investigating the death of a man amid reports he may have been killed by an exploding mobile phone battery.

He was found at his workplace with a melted battery in his shirt pocket and punctured lungs and heart.

Phone maker LG said the cell would have been rigorously tested and was only sold in Korea but it could not comment further because of the police probe.

A welder in China was reportedly killed by an exploding cell phone in July.

A co-worker said the victim was bleeding from the nose and his shirt had soot in the shape of a phone.

"There were burns on his left chest, and fractures of his ribs and spine as well as haemorrhaging in the lungs.

"Considering all these factors, it seems that high pressure from an explosion damaged his lungs and heart, leading to his death."

High temperatures would not have been the cause on such a cold day in a Korean quarry, local media said.

Man with $1M bill busted at bank

AIKEN, S.C. - A bank teller had a million reasons to deny this transaction.

Police say a man tried to open an account with a $1 million bill, which does not exist. The teller refused and called police while the man started to curse at bank workers, said Aiken County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Michael Frank.

Alexander D. Smith, 31, of Augusta, Ga., was charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of forgery, Frank said.

The second forgery charge came after investigators learned Smith bought several cartons of cigarettes from a nearby grocery store with a stolen check, Frank said.

Smith has a bail hearing scheduled Wednesday, but Deputy Angela Shunn of the Aiken County Detention Center did not know if he had an attorney. An off-hours call to the public defender's office went unanswered.

Crater From 1908 Tunguska Blast Found

"A team of scientists from the Marine Science Institute in Bologna claims to have found the crater left by the aerial blast of a comet or asteroid in 1908 in the Tunguska region of Siberia. The blast flattened 770 square miles (2,000 square kilometers) of forest, but to date no remains or crater have been found. This has left open the question of what kind of object made the impact. The team believes that, contrary to previous studies, nearby Lake Cheko is only one century old and 'If the body was an asteroid, a surviving fragment may be buried beneath the lake. If it was a comet, its chemical signature should be found in the deepest layers of sediments.' The team's findings are based on a 1999 expedition to Tunguska and appeared in the August issue of the journal Terra Nova."

Cleaned a burned saucepan by pouring Coke into it and boiling. This takes out all the staining.

If you dye your hair and the result is too intense, flat Coca Cola will help to lighten it.

Pour Coca Cola into your kettle and leave all day. This will remove limescale and leaves it clean inside.

A can of Coke poured into the toilet will clean it. The acid in the drink gets to work right away.

Make an excellent barbecue sauce by mixing Coke and Ketchup , half and half. Coat chicken, meat, etc with this before cooking. It's mouthwatering.

Flat Coke makes a good hair conditioner. Pour it over your hair, rinse and dry.

Put Coke into flat wide dishes in the garden and it will help to rid your plants of slugs. They are attracted by the sweet smell and once they fall in, they can't get out.

Can Wiki Travel?Touring Thailand with only the Internet as my guide.

The last time I went to Thailand, I did something daring. No, not eating ants, boxing with ladyboys, or getting cheap plastic surgery. I went without a guidebook. No Lonely Planet, no Rough guide, not even a skimpy Fodor's or Let's Go. Instead, I trusted my fate to the World Wide Web. The result was very nearly a disaster.

The most developed Wiki-style travel site is Wikitravel. Started in 2003, it uses the same software as Wikipedia but is owned by a different company. (Two others, World Wikia and World66, are weaker.) The idea of Wikitravel is that everyone is potentially a travel writer.

My Web travel project was on the verge of complete meltdown until I chanced on a different, and also mostly free, site named Travelfish.org.

A problem with Wikitravel is that it has a rule called "Be Fair,"

That sounds great, but it's not really what you want in a guide. Wikitravel is too vague

Firefighters in Greece narrowly saved the ruins of Olympia from the wildfires that spread across the nation* over the weekend. The blaze torched the edges of the stadium, but officials say the archaeological treasure survived. Can ancient ruins catch on fire?

No, but they can crumble from the heat. Greek ruins made of limestone or marble aren't going to burst into flames, but they can undergo physical and chemical changes when subjected to the heat of burning vegetation nearby. The outside layers of an ancient building heat up faster than the inside, causing the surface to crack and fall off in dinner plate-sized chunks. At about 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit, the rocks begin to release carbon dioxide. (Trees ignite at about 660 degrees, and wildfires can reach 1,800 degrees.) Since CO₂ helps hold limestone and marble together, sustained heat can weaken the material until it's reduced to powder.
