An analysis of century-old bottles of absinthe — the kind once quaffed by the likes of van Gogh and Picasso to enhance their creativity — may end the controversy over what ingredient caused the green liqueur's supposed mind-altering effects .

The culprit seems plain and simple: The century-old absinthe contained about 70 percent alcohol, giving it a 140-proof kick. In comparison, most gins, vodkas and whiskeys are just 80- to 100-proof.

Strange Beliefs in Some Countries

Even in this modern age, some people have strange beliefs. Here is a list of such beliefs followed by people in some countries.

In some Western countries, people believe that a leaf called "Water Hyacinth" brings luck for them. People grow these plants in their garden believing that the four parts of a leaf are symbols to love, luck, belief and hope.

Indians believe it is unlucky for them if a black cat comes against their way. But in some places in Ireland and Britain people believe it is lucky.

Lucky symbol for the British people is a white horse.

Japanese keep a toy cat, “Maneki Neko”, somewhere in their homes which they believe is lucky. They think 7 and 8 are lucky numbers and 4 and 9 are unlucky. They even don't pronounce the numbers 4 and 9, as they believe that even the sounds may cause harm to them.

Touch a woman's cheek at the right moment and you just sent a spark through her whole body. But I said in the title women have only one erogenous zone. Is it her cheek? Well... yes... Touch her hip at the right time and you get the same spark. Is it the hip? Yep. Cheek, hip... what about her... uh... Definitely there. The truth guys is that a woman's erogenous zone is possibly, her entire body.

Men have one small (some smaller than others) erogenous zone. Now, I hear the experts quickly pointing to this place or that place as alternatives, but the truth is, if there is no direct stimulation to Mr. Happy and/or his pals those other places are meaningless. Sure, men like to be touched, but touch a man's cheek and the touch does not cause sexual stimulation. It makes him THINK about sex, and that is what causes the arousal.

I recently participated in a debate focused on the question: Could extra-terrestrials have visited humankind thousands of years ago, thus becoming the basis of mythic gods? This debate reminded me of the classic Star Trek episode “Who Morns for Adonis”, which dealt with that very concept.

Unfortunately, there are some who take this idea to an extreme, suggesting that all religions are due to this kind of misidentification, and thus use this extreme view to rationalize an atheistic perspective. The following is my rebuttal to this extreme position, while simultaneously acknowledging that misidentification could have played a part in ancient myth making.

You don't know what TV can do.

You may have noticed this, when your watching TV and the ads are on, and your not really watching it maybe talking to some one or something and all of a sudden your attention turns to the TV even though it's just a stupid ad.

`They even have the technology to take over TV and radio and broadcast whatever they want. They use this in countries that have terrorists in them. What they do is, fly over the country and broadcast the fear waves, and then broadcast a message saying the fear you are feeling is because of this terrorists and if you want it to stop, tell the US army where they are.

The Pacific Northwest tree octopus (Octopus paxarbolis) can be found in the temperate rainforests of the Olympic Peninsula on the west coast of North America. Their habitat lies on the Eastern side of the Olympic mountain range, adjacent to Hood Canal. These solitary cephalopods reach an average size (measured from arm-tip to mantle-tip,) of 30-33 cm. Unlike most other cephalopods, tree octopuses are amphibious, spending only their early life and the period of their mating season in their ancestral aquatic environment. Because of the moistness of the rainforests and specialized skin adaptations, they are able to keep from becoming desiccated for prolonged periods of time, but given the chance they would prefer resting in pooled water.

An intelligent and inquisitive being (it has the largest brain-to-body ratio for any mollusk), the tree octopus explores its arboreal world by both touch and sight. Adaptations its ancestors originally evolved in the three dimensional environment of the sea have been put to good use in the spatially complex maze of the coniferous Olympic rainforests. The challenges and richness of this environment (and the intimate way in which it interacts with it,) may account for the tree octopus's advanced behavioral development. (Some evolutionary theorists suppose that "arboreal adaptation" is what laid the groundwork in primates for the evolution of the human mind.)
