There's a widespread misperception in this country—one that organic growers, no matter how giant, happily encourage—that "organic" means "small family farmer." That hasn't been the case for years, certainly not since 1990, when the Department of Agriculture drew up its official guidelines for organic food.

Tags: whole foods

<clipSource>http://www.slate.com/id/2138176/</clipSource>

Worst College Mascot Ever

clipped by: anafernandez
clipper's remarks: Originally found on www.mikedavidson.com

Clip Source: www.evergreen.edu

The geoduck is mollusk native to the Pacific Northwest. The geoduck (pronounced "GOO-ee-duck") is the largest burrowing clam in the world, weighing in at anywhere from one to three pounds at maturity. The appearance of geoduck's large, protruding siphon has led to the belief that the geoduck has the properties of an aphrodisiac. The geoduck has a life expectancy of up to 150 years with the oldest recorded at 163 years.

Tags: mascot

<clipSource>http://www.evergreen.edu/athletics/geoduck.htm</clipSource>

Camille Paglia "Warrior for the word"

clipped by: anafernandez

Clip Source: dir.salon.com

I'm
saying to the religious far right: If we are defending Western civilization, as you claimed in the incursion into
Iraq, then you'd better realize it's much more than Judeo-Christianity and the Bible. You'd better get real and
accept that we have a Greco-Roman tradition of literature and art that started in 700 BC. And yes, some of it
deals, quite frankly, with sex and the body; you must deal with it and allow students to deal with it, because
that is part of the brilliant strength of our arts. I'm demanding that conservatives support the arts and that
liberals stop being so snobby about art and quit celebrating art that is simply cheap sacrilege of other people's
      beliefs.

Tags: paglia

<clipSource>http://dir.salon.com/story/books/int/2005/04/07/paglia/index.html</clipSource>

Police image of suspect looks like an ‘egg with hair’

clipped by: anafernandez

Clip Source: www.timesonline.co.uk

Police image of suspect looks like an ‘egg with hair’

The computer-generated image of the main suspect in Madeleine McCann’s abduction is said to be so vague it resembles an “egg with hair”.

Simon Russell, 40, who runs a video store and internet café in the resort town, said: “They just showed me this outline which apparently gave me the impression that it had high cheekbones and a long face but other than that, no eyes, no nose, no mouth. . . . Ever notice how most Mac users are skinny? It's because of all the calories
they burn because they can't shut the fuck up about how great their Macs
are. What is it about Apple that makes its users unable to shut their
mouths? Everywhere I go, there's another asshole with a Mac preaching
about how much better Macs are than PCs. They regurgitate lines directly
from Apple's marketing campaign, like "it just works." I have the following
rebuttals to this argument:

Canada's poppy quarters caused sensational warnings of 'spy coins' in U.S.

<img src="http://clipmarks.com/image_cache/anafernandez/512/29C7FCBC-60DA-4298-B558-6F227A450771.jpg" alt="An odd-looking Canadian quarter with a bright red flower was the culprit behind a false espionage warning from the U.S. Defense Department about mysterious coins with radio frequency transmitters. The harmless "poppy quarter" was so unfamiliar to suspicious U.S. army contractors travelling in Canada that they filed confidential espionage accounts about them. The worried contractors described the coins as "filled with something man-made that looked like nano-technology," according to once-classified U.S. government reports and e-mails obtained by the AP.

The company formerly known as Apple Computer and now called simply Apple, Inc. is unique in many ways--including in its ability to drive even folks who admire it positively batty. It makes great products (usually), yet its secretiveness about them borders on paranoia, and its adoring fans can be incredibly irritating. Of course, its fans have to put up with some irritations, too: Simply being a member of the club still means you must endure unending jabs from the other side of the socio-political-techno aisle. But do they have to wear their suffering as a badge of honor?

Tags: apple

<clipSource>http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,130994/article.html</clipSource>

3M's sticky bear... umm, just wow!

clipped by: BigBadWolf
clipper's remarks: Were they passing out crack laced coffee the week this was Ok'd for release?

Clip Source: texyt.com

3M's Sticky Bear is VERY Pleased to See You

Unintentionally hilarious product design or subversive moral commentary? 3M is selling these cute self-adhesive hooks in Asia. Just take a look at 3M's colorful, friendly animal pals with their handy hooks to hang your stuff on.

Hmm... but those hooks are positioned rather, er... prominently, aren't they? That bear definitely has a reason to grin, you could say he's um... bursting to meet you.

But wait, there's more. If bears aren't your thing, 3M also has a frog, a cat and a monkey. Mix it up, why don't you?

And in case you're not sure what to do with such a big stiff hook, check out the serving suggestions on the top corner of each package: “follow me, hug me, kiss me.”

By the way, there's some innovative new technology in use here. The self-adhesive hooks feature 3M's new re-usable Command adhesive, which can keep sticking and sticking, again and again, and still come back for more. No, we're not making this up.

Marketing

Tags: marketing, advertising, funny, humor

<clipSource>http://texyt.com/3Ms+Sticky+Bear+is+VERY+Pleased+to+See+You</clipSource>

Mac morons can't talk without using their hands.

clipped by: anafernandez
clipper's remarks: excellent video by maddox.

Clip Source: www.youtube.com

Tags: mac maddox

<clipSource>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Tq7yykR-DM</clipSource>

The Wonderful World of Self-Plagiarism

clipped by: anafernandez
clipper's remarks: Click on the link to read the original version translated from Russian.
