Dr. Jennifer Esse heads the dedicated group at Daniel Island Hearing Center, which offers a variety of services such as hearing evaluations for adults, children and newborns, hearing aid services, assistive listening devices and hearing protection services. Dr. Esse earned her doctorate at the University of Florida and her master’s in audiology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She has a bachelor’s degree from McGill University. Born in Toronto, Canada, Dr. Esse has called Charleston home and practiced audiology in the Lowcountry for eight years. Daniel Island Hearing Center was established in 2005, with a focus on enhancing lifestyle through better hearing. Dr. Esse lives near Daniel Island with her husband and two children.

Do: Register with national retailers (Like Macy's Wedding Registry or Target's Wedding Registry)

Register as soon as possible (at least 6 months before your wedding), to make sure your wedding guests have gifts to choose from for your all your engagement party and bridal shower

Call the store to make an appointment.

Know what china patterns you have, and how many pieces.

Stay Organized.

Don’t: Limit your wedding registry.

Don’t: Register during your lunch hour or on the weekend.

Don’t:Go it alone. Bring your fiancé. You will bring anything a guest buys off the registry into his home, too.

You and your groom have lived together for a little bit, and you have already set up house. You don’t need anymore plates or towels. Why register at a department store? Many specialty shops, such as Williams – Sonoma and Pier 1, have wedding registries. Some banks even have accounts that guest can deposit money directly into. Consider setting up a bank account for money to go toward a new home or even a car. Some Travel companies have even set up registries for honeymoons. When your wedding guest ask what you want or need, be honest. Who doesn’t need a honeymoon to Europe?

This weekend my fiancé and I found my wedding ring online. The ring is a three stone setting of London Blue Topaz with diamond accents. Normally this ring would sale for over $500, but we got it for $180. Not a bad discount if I do say so myself. Zales, Kay, Helzberg, and countless other jewelry stores across South Carolina are marking down some really nice pieces. So if you are in the market for a wedding band or engagement ring, start surfing jewelry websites. The best advice I can give you is don’t look under the “Wedding” category often jewelers will sell nicer and more unique rings under their “Rings” category. Things under the “Wedding” category have a tenancy to look very traditional and cost more than rings not listed there. As I’m sure you have encountered the moment something is listed for weddings the price goes up. So look under general rings for more bling for your buck.

Don't be late! If a wedding invitation says that the ceremony will begin promptly at 5, be sure to arrive there by 4:45 so as to give yourself plenty of time to find a seat and get settled.

Avoid taking photographs during the wedding ceremony. Leave that to the professionals and respect the sanctity of the ritual and bride and groom in front of you. In addition to taking photos during the wedding ceremony being in poor taste, it is banned at many ceremony sites.

A wedding guest does not need to bring a gift with them to the actual wedding. Guests have up to a year after the wedding to give the wedding gift. When a wedding guest brings a gift to the wedding, the bride and groom or the wedding party have to worry about how to get the gift to the bride and grooms new home.

If you are having a very small wedding, feel free to have only one or two bridesmaids. On the opposite side of that, if you are having a huge wedding, you can get away with a lot of bridesmaids. One wedding I went to had 14 bridesmaids and 14 groomsmen, this was a huge wedding in a large church so there was lots of space for that many.

This is just my personal opinion, but I would make sure you have the same number of attendants on the brides and the grooms side. This is not written in stone, but I personally think it looks better than if you too have different numbers.

The average age for a bride in South Carolina is 27. And the average age for a Groom is 29.

But this wasn’t always the case. Roman woman married between 12 and 14. Most Roman grooms where two or three times their brides age. Before you get all up in arms about how young Roman brides where consider this, women can legally marry in the state of South Carolina at 14 and men at 16. Legally, a lest, nothing much has changed since Ancient Rome.

Perhaps that is not all that has carried over. What is an engagement ring, but a evolution of the dowry? You can romanticize the engagement ring all you want, but a groom spends an average of 2 months of his salary to “buy” the right to marry his bride. Think about it. Most self respecting women would not accept an engagement ring from the 25 cent machine. A groom has to spend lots of time and money choosing a ring that is “worthy” of his bride to be. I’m not trying to take the romance out of weddings. It’s just a few thoughts that popped into my head.
