In this case it's probably unique genuine chemical formula and not bacterial contamination. You cannot forever mix some chemicals and promote it as panacea leading to paradise in health. It's not and this sad example is additional proof of it. We are not talking now about taste and tastes. Only filtered boiled tap water can be drunk without precaution and any threat to your body. All rest, even "innocent" herbal teas do sumtin inside and oh so often unpredictable. Even bottled water...

The maker of Slim-Fast has recalled all of its ready-to-drink canned beverages. All of them. Turns out, the stuff might be contaminated with the bacterium Bacillus cereus.

Here's the notice, posted on the Food and Drug Administration's website and the Slim-Fast site.

I had one on Wednesday and almost an hour after I drank it I felt like someone was punching me in the stomach over and over. It is mild in the amount of time that it lasts, but it is not mild for the time that you have it!!!

I had it and it felt so sick and weak I couldn't walk. Then I vomited twice. It was awful, I was turned off to Slim fast 'cause I had it that late afternoon but wasn't sure it was that that made me sick late in the evening. Now, I am! I never touched the other three cans in the fridge and into the garbage can it goes.

With the advent of "citizen journalism," anyone with a camera, an Internet connection, and a few questions can become a member of the fourth estate. But how do you know if this reporting is accurate?

YouTube on Tuesday introduced a new portal, dubbed YouTube Direct, intended to provide news organizations with a more organized way to find and use homemade videos about the day's major news stories.

Let's say a tornado touches down and wipes out a Midwestern town, a politician makes a newsworthy comment at a voter meet-and-greet, or a traffic accident has brought a major highway to a standstill. A news team might not be able to make it to the scene immediately, but you had your camera out and captured the action.

NEW YORK – Male factory workers in China who got very high doses of a chemical that's been widely used in hard plastic bottles had high rates of sexual problems, researchers reported Wednesday.

The men in the study experienced BPA levels about 50 times higher than those faced by typical American men, said researcher Dr. De-Kun Li. "We don't know" whether more typical doses have similar effects, he said.

BPA is used in a wide variety of consumer products, including some hard plastic bottles and metal food or beverage cans. Several makers of baby bottles recently said they had stopped using the chemical. Some 90 percent of the U.S. population carries detectable levels in the urine.

The U.S. government recently announced new funding for research into BPA's effects.

LONDON — The questions before the judges in Courtroom No. 1 of Britain’s Supreme Court were as ancient and as complex as Judaism itself.

David Lightman with his daughter, who was denied admission to the Jews' Free School because her mother's conversion was not recognized. But a court ruling has voided the admissions policy.

The case began when a 12-year-old boy, an observant Jew whose father is Jewish and whose mother is a Jewish convert, applied to the school, JFS. Founded in 1732 as the Jews’ Free School, it is a centerpiece of North London’s Jewish community. It has around 1,900 students, but it gets far more applicants than it accepts.

Because M’s mother converted in a progressive, not an Orthodox, synagogue, the school said, she was not a Jew — nor was her son. It turned down his application.

The mystery of whether Neanderthals and us had sex might possibly get solved if the entire Neanderthal genome is reported soon as expected. The matter of why they died and we succeeded, however, remains an open question.

First recognized in the Neander Valley in Germany in 1856, Neanderthals revealed that modern humans possess a rich and complex family tree that includes now-extinct relatives.

House passes health care reform bill; Vote garners only one Republican

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and President Obama successfully lead an effort to pass health care reform in the House of Representatives.

WASHINGTON - The biggest overhaul of America's medical system since Medicare took a big step forward Saturday night, narrowly passing the House with a controversial amendment to restrict coverage of abortion.

The bill passed 220-215, with 39 Democrats voting no and one Republican, Rep. Joseph Cao (R-La.), voting in favor of the landmark bill.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was forced to allow the abortion amendment after a deal with conservative Democrats collapsed and they threatened to sink the reform bill.

The move enraged liberals, but most agreed to stay on board and President Obama traveled to the House to make a personal appeal and seal the deal.

The bill proposes to spend $1.055 trillion to add 36 million Americans to the insurance rolls

Family doctors group loses members over Coke deal

CHICAGO – Advice about soft drinks and health from one of the nation's largest doctors groups will soon be brought to you by Coke.

The American Academy of Family Physicians has prompted outcry and lost members over its new six-figure alliance with the Coca-Cola Co. The deal will fund educational materials about soft drinks for the academy's consumer health and wellness Web site, http://www.FamilyDoctor.org.

"Coca-Cola, like other sodas, causes enormous suffering and premature death by increasing the risks of obesity, diabetes, heart attacks, gout, and cavities," Harvard University nutrition expert Dr. Walter Willett said in an e-mail.

Walker has been a member of the academy for 25 years but quit last week. He said 20 other doctors who work with his local medical practice also quit because of the Coke deal.

On October 16, 2006, the Department of Defense announced that it will resume its previously court-halted anthrax vaccination program and that troops who do not agree to receive the six-injection series voluntarily will be faced with disciplinary action.

Untested vaccinations are believed to be one of the source of Gulf War Illness, a crippling condition which disabled tens of thousands of soldiers after the first Gulf War.
