In this movie, we see how Rajneesh combines an eerie charisma with scientific mind control techniques to make his disciples psychically dependent on him. For the guru, this web of control means a regal lifestyle (he had nearly a hundred Rolls-Royces at his disposal). But for his followers, called sannyasins, living in the shadow of the Master means giving up family ties, working eighteen hours a day, seven days a week, for no pay and always being available to satisfy the sexual whims of the guru’s hierarchy.

When the Wizard of Oz was first written it was an allegorical story of the struggle within the ruling class of America over it’s cash system — whether money would be based on gold standard (”the yellow brick road”) silver (”the tin man”) or fiat (”the emerald city”). The “emerald city” is Washington.

MK ULTRA coding was linked to the music of Pink Floyd (”pink Freud”) “the dark side of the moon”. If one watches the film the wizard of oz to “the dark side of the moon” then one can see numerous synchronizations which support this idea of shattered messages to shattered personalities. “Dorothy” in the Wizard of Oz. (ounce, of gold) is the “door” to another personality which is “over the rainbow”. In the traumatized mind, the traumatic state leads one “over the rainbow” to another world. The traumatization occurs partly through mixed messages - double binds.

After an unnamed British secret agent retires from his position, he returns to his home in London to pack for a holiday. However, he is soon gassed and loses consciousness. When he awakes hours later, he finds himself in a strange community by the sea known only as the Village. In this place, no names are used and all phones, maps, taxis and other services are “only local.” Number Six, as he soon becomes known as, is shown around the Village by its chairman Number Two, who explains that the information in his head is priceless and that he and his superiors want to know why he resigned.

In a future society based on pleasure without moral worries, love is prohibited but casual sex, now called ‘engaging’, is strongly encouraged. Everyone is kept happy with a legal drug, soma. People are hatched and cloned on conveyor belts to meet the requirements of five different social classes, from ruling Alphas to robot-like Epsilons. Bernard Marx is a different Alpha male with an inclination to thinking. He and a girl called Lenina Disney go visit a reservation of ’savages’ where they meet a handsome young man John and bring him back to ‘civilization’. John turns out to be the son of the director of the cloning authority, which causes a scandal and makes John a celebrity freak. John falls in love with Lenina but his desire is ruined by his antiquated sexual morale derived from reading Shakespeare.

Truman Burbank began life by being the chosen one of five unwanted babies to be the star of a documentary of the first year of life of a child. The program became so popular that it expanded into a continuously running reality television program. Contained within a completely artificial town called Seahaven, itself contained within a gigantic dome, the “Omnicomm Ecosphere”, Truman grows up as the only person in the town unaware that he lives in an almost solipsistic constructed reality for the entertainment of those outside. His friends, family, and wife are all actors following direction. His life-long best friend, Marlon, has been on the show since he was 7 years old.

The plot takes many ideas from Philip K. Dick’s 1959 novel Time Out of Joint, as well as the 1960 Twilight Zone episode “A World of Difference”, and the 1968 feature The Secret Cinema (later remade as an Amazing Stories episode in 1986).
