NO END IN SIGHT is a jaw-dropping, insider’s tale of wholesale incompetence, recklessness and venality. Based on over 200 hours of footage, the film examines the manner in which the principal errors of U.S. policy – the use of insufficient troop levels, allowing the looting of Baghdad, the purging of professionals from the Iraqi government, and the disbanding of the Iraqi military – largely created the insurgency and chaos that engulf Iraq today.

How did a group of men with little or no military experience, knowledge of the Arab world or personal experience in Iraq come to make such flagrantly debilitating decisions? NO END IN SIGHT dissects the people, issues and facts behind the Bush Administration’s decisions and their consequences on the ground to provide a powerful look into how arrogance and ignorance turned a military victory into a seemingly endless and deepening nightmare of a war.

Tags: politics, video, documentary

<clipSource>http://underdogcinema.com/politics/magnolia-pictures-presents-no-end-in-sight/</clipSource>

Anima Mundi: The Soul of the World

clipped by: WIDEEYECINEMA

Clip Source: underdogcinema.com

Anima Mundi: The Soul of the World

Anima Mundi is a 1991 short documentary film directed by Godfrey Reggio. The film focuses on the world of nature and wildlife, particularly jungles, sealife, and insects. The movie was commissioned by Italian jewellers Bulgari for use by the World Wildlife Fund in their Biological Diversity Program.

The film was scored by Philip Glass, who also worked on Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi, and Naqoyqatsi. Anima Mundi features many of the techniques from the Qatsi movies, and was produced in between the release of Powaqqatsi and Naqoyqatsi, but is not considered to be related to the series.

Tags: nature, video, movies

<clipSource>http://underdogcinema.com/nature/anima-mundi-the-soul-of-the-world/</clipSource>

Powaqqatsi: Life in Transformation

clipped by: WIDEEYECINEMA

Clip Source: underdogcinema.com

Powaqqatsi: Life in Transformation

Powaqqatsi: Life in Transformation is the 1988 sequel to the experimental 1982 documentary film Koyaanisqatsi, by Godfrey Reggio. It is the second film in the Qatsi trilogy.

Powaqqatsi is a Hopi word meaning “parasitic way of life” or “life in transition”. While Koyaanisqatsi focused on modern life in industrial countries, Powaqqatsi, which similarly has no dialogue, focuses more on the conflict in third world countries between traditional ways of life and the new ways of life introduced with industrialization.

Tags: video, movies

<clipSource>http://underdogcinema.com/culture/powaqqatsi-life-in-transformation/</clipSource>

Koyaanisqatsi: Life Out of Balance

clipped by: WIDEEYECINEMA

Clip Source: underdogcinema.com

Koyaanisqatsi: Life Out of Balance

Koyaanisqatsi: Life out of Balance is a 1982 film directed by Godfrey Reggio with music composed by minimalist composer Philip Glass and cinematography by Ron Fricke.

The film consists primarily of slow motion and time-lapse photography of cities and natural landscapes across the United States. The visual tone poem contains neither dialogue nor a vocalized narration: its tone is set by the juxtaposition of images and music. In the Hopi language, the word Koyaanisqatsi means ‘crazy life, life in turmoil, life out of balance, life disintegrating, a state of life that calls for another way of living’, and the film implies that modern humanity is living in such a way.

Tags: movies, video

<clipSource>http://underdogcinema.com/culture/koyaanisqatsi-life-out-of-balance/</clipSource>

Embracing Humanity: Truth in a Time of War

clipped by: WIDEEYECINEMA

Clip Source: underdogcinema.com

Embracing Humanity: Truth in a Time of War

Howard Zinn, playwright, activist and historian, is the author of the ground-breaking “A People’s History of the United States.” His influential writings and teaching give voice to factory workers, immigrant laborers, African Americans, Native Americans and the working poor. Zinn’s talk explores the notion of “just” wars with his usual candor and critical understanding.

Tags: politics, video

<clipSource>http://underdogcinema.com/politics/embracing-humanity-truth-in-a-time-of-war/</clipSource>

Revolver Entertainment: Taking Liberties

clipped by: WIDEEYECINEMA

Clip Source: underdogcinema.com

Revolver Entertainment: Taking Liberties

TAKING LIBERTIES is a shocking but hilarious polemic documentary that charts the destruction of all your Basic Liberties under 10 Years of New Labour. Released to coincide with Tony Blair’s departure, the film and the book follow the stories of normal people who’s lives have been turned upside down by injustice - from being arrested for holding a placard outside parliament to being tortured in Guantanamo Bay.

Tags: surveillance society, video

<clipSource>http://underdogcinema.com/politics/revolver-entertainment-taking-liberties/</clipSource>

The Gourmet Menu: Cooking With Marijuana

clipped by: WIDEEYECINEMA

Clip Source: underdogcinema.com

The Gourmet Menu: Cooking With Marijuana

The Secret Life of Plants is a long rare 1979 documentary built around New Age pseudoscience - seeds communicating with distant stars, laughably dubious “experiments” such as a telepathic cabbage identifying the “murderer” who mutilated a fellow vegetable, etc. Spectacular cloud forests, stunning macro and time-lapse photography, and an astounding original soundtrack by Stevie Wonder.

<clipSource>http://underdogcinema.com/culture/the-secret-life-of-plants/</clipSource>

Indian Levitation Exposed

clipped by: WIDEEYECINEMA

Clip Source: hollowvision.com

Indian Levitation Exposed
