clipper's remarks: I really, REALLY like this track. I'm not sure what to dub it stylistically, but it's very high-tempo, techy, melodic trance with great vox and bleepy SFX. Nothing too "out there", but a solid performer.

The music video has ULTRA visual accompaniment — the camera pans, angles, and how it's all put together work incredibly well.

One of the best parts is the clever editing of looped Second Life animations to give them a more dynamic, varied feel.

Bravo! One of my fave Second Life vids so far. ^_^

NU: One alternate answer I can give that would make it a bit more legit and business-oriented is that as I moved up the ladder and it became more of a seniority thing, I got pulled into a lot of meetings during the day, and I never got to spend time focused and concentrating on making music. So being grabbed in different directions and not being able to spend time within the company to make the music, I lost the concentration. My decision was "do I want to stay at a company that's going to require a lot of non-creative time" or "do I want to continue to make music?" So continuing to make music was what I wanted to do and what I decided to do.

clipper's remarks: I stumbled across this on YouTube. I can't believe it, someone(s) actually went through all the work to make a video for these games. I grew up playing Dragon Warrior after subscribing to Nintendo Power (which came with it and a map pack as a freebie incentive), and was introduced to the world of electronic RPGs. I've never looked back since.

The editing on this is so well-done and the varied effects and screamed vocals are milk-splurting hilarity!

I had the particular tape "Attack of the Decepticons" as a kid, and while it's SHEERLY cheesy and totally dated — and the voices are sooo off as well — I nevertheless am thrilled to find what was such an influential part of my youth. I must've listened to the tape over... and over.

clipper's remarks: It's one of the most famous melodies you may not know the name of — "Popcorn" refers to the staccato, bouncy instrument which is prominent in this very poppy track. This page chronicles some of the many incarnations of the "Popcorn Song" — among them are many dance mixes, but some other curiosities, like a faux Native American version and a surf rock jam. There's even a version with German vocals!

The origins of Popcorn

Despite the wide range of music Gershon Kingsley has composed, he is most well-known for a 1972 instrumental dance hit called "Popcorn."

Kingsley recalls that he wrote the primary melody to "Popcorn" in about 30 seconds. The song was first released in 1969 as part of a Kingsley solo album called "Music To Moog By." This version differs quite a lot from the well-known version released by Hot Butter. A single version was released too, which had some extra effects compared to the album version. Then the First Moog Quartet, a band formed by Gershon Kingsley in 1970, used "Popcorn" as their encore song while on their nation-wide tour of college and universities. This version was released in 1972 on their LP Popcorn.
