The Montreal-Philippines cutlery controversy was an international incident that arose in 2006, when a 7-year-old boy of Filipino birth was repeatedly disciplined by authorities in his elementary school in the Montreal suburb of Roxboro, for using his cutlery in a Filipino way. The boy's parents protested, and the story was picked up by the media; in response, the Canadian embassy in Manila was surrounded by protestors, and Jose Brillantes, the Philippines Ambassador to Canada, issued an official condemnation, saying that it was "an affront to Filipino culture."^[1]

Alvin Toffler, Orson Welles, and Future Shock

This is a little known documentary based on the book Future Shock by Alvin Toffler. This short came out in 1972 and features Orson Welles as the narrator. I was most amused by the high amount of paranoia in regards to the future… some of the segments (like people choosing their own skin color) are downright hilarious.

Two people are curious about this.

most people have stamp, coin or sticker collections. When i was young, i had a watermelon collection. true story.

The best source of hapiness to. Watermelon makes smile and laugh, i know.. sounds really weird.. but it’s true :P

My girlfriend detests watermelon.

O yes I would love to, but one watermelon is just too big for me that I'm scared to buy it.

I think it was in Japan (not positive on the country) came up with a way to grow watermelons square so that they fit in a fridge better, hmmm random but interesting

I wonder how they do that? So far, I think Japanese are pretty creative.
