Check it out at the source. I wonder why these folks from other states spent so much money to stop we Cali Queers from marrying, with Iowa and Vermont seeing no H8 $$? Crazy! Lot's of interesting info at the site.

Clip Source: www.californiansagainsthate.com

We present the Californians Against Hate Dishonor Roll. We want the country to know who gave the $36 million to the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign that ended same-sex marriage in California. We have posted all major donors on our web site who gave $5000.00 and more, many much more! We've taken public information from the California Secretary of State’s Office and added telephone numbers and web sites when available. We also included commentary on some of the more interesting and controversial donors. Individuals and businesses gave a vast amount of money to take away our equality, and we want you to know who they are.

Knights of Columbus

$1,425,000

Howard Ahmanson, Jr.

$1,395,000

John Templeton/Josephine Templeton

$1,100,000

National Organization for Marriage

$1,041,134.80*
Washington, D.C., – Congressman Jim Moran, Northern Virginia Democrat, introduced Earth-friendly legislation that would place a 5 cent fee on "single use" bags from grocery stores and other retail outlets in order to encourage reusable bag use. The "Plastic Bag Reduction Act of 2009," would allocate the funding generated to land and water conservation programs, to pay down the national debt, and to cover the costs for local businesses to implement the program.

"Our environment is literally choking on plastic bags," said Moran. Whole swaths of our oceans, in some places up to 580 square miles – 13 times the size of the Commonwealth of Virginia -- have become floating landfills. Ingested marine debris, particularly plastic bags, are killing thousands of birds, turtles, marine mammals, fish, and squid each day.

<clipSource>http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/101467</clipSource>

The Incense in your Kitchen

clipped by: Thorne
clipper's remarks: Great ideas and recipes!

Clip Source: eclecticwitch.today.com

When I walk into my kitchen, I see several things. He uses cigarette butts in some of his upcycled art projects. The above sculpture entitled “Filter Rabbit” uses the unraveled filters of smoked cigarettes to create a furry appearance to the bunny. It obviously smells strongly of tobacco but looks completely adorable. The filters really do give the rabbit a much needed realistic touch of fur.

This piece, aptly titled “Shell” is comprised of cigarette butts that the artist found in parking lots near the beach in Rhode Island. The butts are unrecognizable from a distance as anything besides alternating colors. Close up, the ugly truth becomes more apparent. It’s amazing how a true artist can see raw materials in a different way than the average person. One person sees garbage and the next sees hope for that garbage’s regeneration.

<clipSource>http://greenupgrader.com/5572/green-cigarette-butts/</clipSource>

Rev. But the real truth behind a thing isn’t the “I am”, but “why am I?” “Why am I passionate about the Environment, and how does that permeate every other thing that I choose to do or not do?” What does the Environment have to do with me doing my own remodeling, and what does that have to do with “Reuse?”

Those of us that are “Green” struggle with it every day. We try to be deep green to help make up for all the people that are “Purple.” (The opposite of Green. Those people who consume and pollute to an excessive degree) We struggle against the very real and human instinct for comfort, taste and sensuality. We try not to eat to much beef, we recycle our toilet paper tubes, we re-set the margins on our printer paper (that ones for you Robin) and we make do with less, reuse what we can and recycle the rest. It’s difficult. The revolutionary parts are the participatory crowd-sourcing sections. Have a vision for America? You can pound out your version of “Common Sense” and upload it to the site. Have a story you want told? Under the same “American Moment” tab, you can upload that too.

President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Friends,

Who among us is not at a loss for words? Tears pour out. Tears of joy. Tears of relief. A stunning, whopping landslide of hope in a time of deep despair.

In a nation that was founded on genocide and then built on the backs of slaves, it was an unexpected moment, shocking in its simplicity: Barack Obama, a good man, a black man, said he would bring change to Washington, and the majority of the country liked that idea. The racists were present throughout the campaign and in the voting booth. But they are no longer the majority, and we will see their flame of hate fizzle out in our lifetime.
