Role of chess in improving your character

Chess is a board game played between two people. The requirements for the game is none other than a square board containing 64 squares of alternate colors, and 32 pieces split into two equal sets and distributed equally to the players. The objective of the game is to capture the opponent’s chief piece – the King – and say “checkmate”, following some simple rules of setting up the pieces on the board and using the specified movement of the pieces. Now, the need for a partner is also done away with and anyone who likes to learn the game or play the game can do so by using the computer and the Internet and play online chess with a virtual partner in any online chess site.

This is all about the game of chess, in its simplest terms, for any layman to know about the game.

Some explorers got the fame, glory and other grand things. Christopher Columbus got his own day, Marco Polo got a game named after him. Here are some explorers as important with less or no fame at all.

Pytheas, he was a Greek sailor, navigator. He lived in Marseilles, he was a great navigators of the sea like other Greeks of the time. He traveled to Cornwall and even got up to the British Isles. He even reached Norway, which he called Ultima Thule.

Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Battuta, he traveled more distance then any other traveler of that time. Around 75,000 miles no other travelers would overcome that until the invention of steam. He was born in a small place, Tangier, in North Africa.

Cheng Ho, in the end of the Ming Dynasty, when the last Mongol fort was destroyed in China. The Ming soldiers captured a few Mongol boys, they castrated them and put them in the service of the kings. One of them was very grateful of the king.

Nursing assistants maintain relationships with the patients and their families. We are always ready to help them and work much harder for them. Nobody is disturbed by this behavior. But in some cases our relationships get unsafe for us, the resident, the other residents we have been allotted to; the people we work with and our peers.

There are instances when CNAs cross their limitations and the results are bad for them. These limitations are:

1. When CNAs spend time with the residents after job timings.
2. When they share secrets with the patients and their families.
3. If you get defensive when they are asked about their relationship with the patient and their families.
4. If gifts are shared between them and their patients.
5. When the patient thinks that you are the only one who can take care of them.
6. When you flirt with a patient.
7. When you become objective about a resident.

Loneliness May Be Contagious

Staying socially connected may be just as important for public health as washing your hands and covering your cough. A new study suggests that feelings of loneliness can spread through social networks like the common cold.

“People on the edge of the network spread their loneliness to others and then cut their ties,” says Nicholas Christakis of Harvard Medical School in Boston, a coauthor of the new study in the December Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. “It’s like the edge of a sweater: You start pulling at it and it unravels the network.”

This study is the latest in a series that Christakis and James Fowler of the University of California, San Diego have conducted to see how habits and feelings move through social networks. Their earlier studies suggested that obesity, smoking and happiness are contagious.

So where did this wicked sordid habit of gambling all begin? Almost every country has its own form of gambling. Of course, the United States has a great history when it comes to different forms of gambling, both legal and illegal.

It almost seems like the gambling laws are based on the cries of the public. Every once in a while a group of anti gamblers will become vocal and the government will at least turn one ear to them. Then there is a flurry of tightening up of the gambling laws once again.
