We’ve been fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan longer than we fought in World Wars I and II combined.

I don’t think our current way of waging war, which is pretty easy-breezy for most citizens, is what the architects of America had in mind. Here’s George Washington’s view, for example: “It must be laid down as a primary position and the basis of our system, that every citizen who enjoys the protection of a free government owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal service to the defense of it.”

What we are doing is indefensible and will ultimately exact a fearful price, and there will be absolutely no way for the U.S. to avoid paying it".

Clip Source: www.nytimes.com

The idea that fewer than 1 percent of Americans are being called on to fight in Afghanistan and Iraq and that we’re sending them into combat again and again and again — for three tours, four tours, five tours, six tours — is obscene. All decent people should object.

The air is filled with obsessive self-satisfied rhetoric about supporting the troops, giving them everything they need and not letting them down. But that rhetoric is as hollow as a jazzman’s drum because the overwhelming majority of Americans have no desire at all to share in the sacrifices that the service members and their families are making. Most Americans do not want to serve in the wars, do not want to give up their precious time to do volunteer work that would aid the nation’s warriors and their families, do not even want to fork over the taxes that are needed to pay for the wars.

<clipSource>http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/08/opinion/08herbert.html?em#</clipSource>

Mona Lisa

clipped by: 1 liter of water each day,
at the end of the year we would have absorbed
more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli , (E. coli) – bacteria
found in feces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop..

However,
we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer
(or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor)
because alcohol has to go through a purification process
of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:

Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.

Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid,
than to drink water and be full of crap.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:

<clipSource>http://goodmorninggloucester.wordpress.com/2009/09/02/public-service-announcement-from-fob-joe-mckechnie-water-wine-and-beer/</clipSource>

The Love Story of Ralph and Edna

clipped by: Socratoad
clipper's remarks: Edna replied, "He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?"

Clip Source: maryamie.spaces.live.com

Just because someone
doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you
with all they have. Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One
day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly
jumped into the deep end.

Edna promptly jumped in
to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse
Director became aware of Edna's heroic act she immediately ordered her to be
discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.

When she went to tell
Edna the news she said, "Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good
news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a
crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love. I have
concluded that your act displays sound mindedness. The bad
news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after
you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead."
