Wife Convicted After Hubby Kills Her Lover

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- A Texas woman who caused her lover's shooting death by falsely crying rape was convicted Friday of involuntary manslaughter.

Tracy Denise Roberson, 37, cried a bit when the verdict was announced. The punishment phase was set for Monday, and she faces two to 20 years in prison.

In late 2006, Darrell Roberson came home from a late-night card game to find his scantily clad wife with another man in a pickup truck in the driveway. Tracy Roberson was with her lover but cried rape, and her husband fired four shots into the truck as Devin LaSalle drove off, killing him.

Darrell Roberson initially was arrested, but a murder charge was later dropped and a grand jury indicted Tracy Roberson instead.

During her three-day trial, defense attorneys called no witnesses but blamed LaSalle's death on Darrell Roberson's jealousy and rage.

Rioting lesbians have stormed a speech by "Born Gay Hoax" author Ryan Sorba on the campus of Smith College in Massachusetts, shutting down his address, according to two major pro-family organizations, Americans for Truth and Mass Resistance.

"Beware lesbians with frying pans (if you care about free speech)," AFT said in his announcement. "Lesbian activists at Smith College just couldn't stand by and let a young critic explain his views about the supposed innateness of homosexuality – so they stormed Ryan Sorba's speech on the 'Born Gay Hoax' and forced him to end it prematurely."

"Thus they decided for everyone in the room – supporters, foes, the curious and the undecided – whether Sorba's arguments would be heard. Stalin would be proud," said AFT's Peter LaBarbera.

Sensational sightings of a flying human above the skies of Mexico could be genuine, says a paranormal expert.

The mysterious woman-like figure was caught on camera as it hovered above mountains in Nuevo Leon city.

UFO watchers said the figure appeared to be wearing a cape, leading to claims that it was a witch or wizard when it was first seen in 2006.

Now Mexico’s leading UFO expert Anna Luisa Cid says the sightings were true after carrying out her own investigations.

“I think that the possibility is there,” Cid said. “An imaginary object is not recorded on film, nor does it produce over 40 witnesses.”

Nuevo Leon UFO club managed to film the spooky flying character.

And policeman Leonardo Samaniego also claimed a floating person had dropped out of the sky.

“In conclusion, from my professional point of view, both cases are real,” Cid told the Ghosttheory.com Web site.

Samaniego’s said, “I do not believe the entity to be a witch, but I do know that it is something that we cannot explain.”

SANTIAGO, Chile — Hundreds of people fled remote villages in southern Chile on Friday after a snowcapped volcano erupted, sending minor earthquakes rippling through the region.

The Chaiten volcano belched fire and ash on Thursday night, causing more than 60 small tremors in Los Lagos, a region about 750 miles (1,200 kilometers) south of the capital of Santiago.

More tremors can be expected in the coming days, warned Emergency Bureau Director Carmen Fernandez.

he government evacuated as many as 1,500 people from nearby villages and the town of Chaiten, just 6.2 miles (10 kilometers) from the volcano, as ash rained down on homes and local water supplies. Officials distributed fresh water and more than 10,000 protective masks, Fernandez and Interior Minister Edmundo Perez said.

Nanny Rips Baby From Jaws Of Coyote

CHINO HILLS, Calif. — A nanny pulled a 2-year-old girl from the jaws of a coyote when the animal attacked the toddler and tried to carry her away in its mouth, officials said.

The girl was playing Friday in a sandbox at Alterra Park in Chino Hills in San Bernardino County. Around 10:30 a.m., the caretaker heard screaming and saw a coyote trying to carry the child off in its mouth, officials said.

The babysitter grabbed the child and pulled her from the coyote's grasp, the sheriff's department said in a statement.

The coyote then ran off into nearby brush.

The child suffered wounds to her buttocks and was taken to Chino Valley Medical Center and was later released, director of nursing Anne Marie Robertson said. She was later transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center to receive the rabies vaccine.

San Bernardino County Animal Control and the State Department of Fish and Game were searching for the animal, Wiltshire said.

Best known for hits like "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" and "Summer of '69" over a career of nearly 30 years, Adams said he has not been signed to a record label in the United States for more than four years and loves the freedom.

"I really recommend it to most artists to take control of their music if they can," the rocker-turned-photographer said in an interview for "Hear the World" -- www.hear-the-world.com -- an exhibition of his celebrity photos to promote awareness of hearing loss that opened in New York on Friday.

"It's really time for artists to take control of what they're doing and appreciate what it takes to move forward," said Adams. "I really didn't understand how much went on behind the scenes in promoting a record."

Federal agents on the hunt for criminals on Thursday raided the wrong house while searching for drugs.

Police and federal agents raided 50 marijuana grow houses around Florida on Thursday, calling it "Operation D-Day."

They seized $7 million worth of pot plants, but they also kicked in the door of Noel Llorente's Opa-locka home and found nothing but bewildered homeowners.

"I was frightened for my husband because they threw him on the ground," Llorente's wife said. "I was scared.

Llorente said he was just leaving for work when unmarked cars pulled up, Drug Enforcement Administration agents jumped out, threw him down with guns drawn, handcuffed him, stormed into his home and searched for drugs.

"I asked them why they came to my house, they said a neighbor or somebody called and said I had a hydroponics lab in my house," Llorente said. "Then I asked them if a marijuana plant could grow inside my underwear drawer."

The Llorentes said they don't speak much English – they're immigrants from Cuba

How many people can explain what it feels like to listen to their own funeral service?

Well, 21-year-old Whitney Cerak can - although, hardly surprisingly, even she struggles to find the words to do so.

One afternoon last August, she sat beside her father at the family dining table and pressed "play" to hear the definitive summing up of her young life.

More than 1,400 people had packed into the church, in the American town of Caledonia, Michigan, to say goodbye to her in 2006, and the proceedings had been recorded. No one could have dreamed that one day Whitney herself would be able to listen to their tributes.

"I can barely describe how it felt," she says. "Odd. Weird. Surreal. A bit scary. I'm the only person I know who has listened to their own funeral.

This little monkey is missing her mummy so to make sure she's not losing out zoo keepers have given her a teddy bear to cuddle.

Conchita is a three-week-old white-naped mangabey monkey who is being hand-reared at London Zoo.

The tiny primate keeps hold of her teddy bear companion while her mother recovers from a caesarean.

But it's not all down to the teddy, as this mini-monkey is also being looked after by keeper, Andrea Payne.

The species, which are native to West Africa, are on the critically endangered list following loss of habitat.

The white-naped mangabey is restricted to a small region between the Nzo-Sassandra river system in Côte d'Ivoire and the Volta River in Ghana.

KINGSTON - A shotgun blast couldn't stop two men from fighting on a city porch Friday morning.

Detrell Pittman, 28, of 209 Foxhall Ave., Kingston, and Jonathan Stevens, 34, of 143 Colonial Place, Kingston, wound up being charged with criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation, after the predawn incident, according to Detective Lt. Timothy Matthews of the city police department.

Matthews said the two men got into a fight about 3:25 a.m. near 202 Foxhall Ave. and that the scuffle ultimately moved to the porch of the residence.

Matthews said a resident of the home, thinking the two men were trying to break in, came outside carrying a shotgun. And when the man incorrectly thought one of the combatants had a knife and was about to use it, he fired a shotgun blast into the air in an attempt to scare the men, Matthews said.

But the two kept fighting.

The man with the shotgun and the woman with the Big Wheel were not charged, and police did not release their names.

Man Jumps From 14th Floor at Disneyland

ANAHEIM, Calif.—A man jumped to his death Friday from the 14th floor of the Disneyland Hotel, a popular resort for tourists visiting the nearby theme parks of Disneyland and California Adventure.

The man, who was in town on business, jumped from his balcony on the hotel's south tower around 11 a.m., said Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Anaheim police.

Martinez would not release the man's identity.

"We're investigating, but all indications by examining the room and talking to witnesses, it's being called a suicide," Martinez said.

He would not say if a suicide note was found and declined to release any details.

Martinez said the man was sharing a room at the 16-story hotel with a male co-worker.

An operator who answered a call to the hotel's front desk referred inquiries to the police.
