August 2006, the yacht 'Maiken' is traveling in the south Pacific

when they came across a weird sight...

It was sand in the water, and floating ON TOP of the waves..

This is not a beach, it is volcanic stones floating on the water.

The trail left by the yacht...

And then this was spotted... ash and steam rising from the ocean...

And, while they were watching...

A brand new island formed...

A plume of black ash...

Connecticut's Supreme Court ruled Friday that same-sex couples have the right to marry, making the state the third behind Massachusetts and California to legalize such unions.

The problem is that constitutions don't grant rights to any couples. Constitutions grant rights to individuals. Can anyone deny that an individual is being treated the same as every other individual if the same rules are applied to all? If every person is able to marry someone of the opposite sex, then the same "constitutional principles" are applied to all. If no person is allowed to marry his sibling, the same rules are applied to all. If no person is allowed to have more than one spouse, the same rules are applied to all. If the definition of marriage includes "not marrying one's sibling" and "not engaging in polygamy," and these are not unconstitutional limitations, then a definition of marriage that creates boundaries is not unconstitutional...as long as the same definition is applied to everyone.

The following article is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT because it provides an explanation for the above, as well as why Obama has been deceptive about his 10+ years' association with unrepentant American terrorist William Ayers. Please take a couple of minutes to read the article.

Lastly, the reason I find credible the point made by the author, Jack Cashill, that Obama did not write his two celebrated memoirs (which were most probably ghostwritten by Ayers), is because I am a published writer. I
know how hard writing is. I also know that writing is a craft that must be
honed: one does not SUDDENLY overnight become a good writer, especially if
one has never written before.

Have you wondered, as I have, why Obama left no paper trail?
1. He has refused to make public his Senior Thesis at Columbia U., not even the title.
2. He has refused to make public his records (grades) at Occidental College, Columbia U., & Harvard Law School.
3. Despite being president (elected) of the Harvard Law Review, he did not write anything beyond a brief legal note (see article below).

4. Despite teaching as a Lecturer at Chicago U.'s law school for years, Obama NEVER wrote or published any law article. That, for anyone familiar with academia, is very very unusual. But it did not stop Chicago from OFFERING OBAMA A TENURED APPOINTMENT.

Now we know why Barack Obama refuses (and will continue to sandbag) to make public his senior thesis & his undergraduate & law school grades & records. Because doing so will make clear that he did not write those two memoirs. Note that many will vote for Obama because they admire him for his writing & "intellect." (Cashill's article within Link).

CLEVELAND - A man at the center of a voter-registration scandal told The Post yesterday he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times, in apparent violation of Ohio laws.

"Sometimes, they come up and bribe me with a cigarette, or they'll give me a dollar to sign up," said Freddie Johnson, 19, who filled out 72 separate voter-registration cards over an 18-month period at the behest of the left-leaning Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

ACORN is under investigation in Ohio and at least eight other states - including Missouri, where the FBI said it's planning to look into potential voter fraud - for over-the-top efforts to get as many names as possible on the voter rolls regardless of whether a person is registered or eligible.

"Democrats Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, Jamie Gorelick, Penny Pritzker, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank are robbing the American taxpayer, and Republicans in the House and Senate had been tapped to drive the getaway car," said Reagan.

“In a political system where well-paid Democrat operatives can enrich themselves at the expense of the American people with zero downside, there is no incentive to behave properly, when the taxpayer will bail you out. Enough is enough, bad decisions have consequences and those consequences ought to include indictments and jail time for those who cashed in."

I take heavy machine gun rounds to mean at least .50.

American soldiers operating west of Baghdad have uncovered a large weapons cache that could be tied to a recent rise in the number of booby-trapped houses in the area, officials said Thursday.

The troops, from Company C, 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, seized the weapons near Thamir Village, near Abu Ghraib, on Thursday. The cache included 269 122 mm rocket rounds and 200,000 heavy machine-gun rounds.

Officials with the unit said the rockets have a longer range than most rockets used by insurgents and could also be part of a “rising” threat of booby-trapped houses.

“Because of the size and condition of this cache, this will significantly degrade the enemy’s ability to conduct attacks against the Iraqi Security Forces, the local populace and Coalition Forces,” Lt. Col. Glen Blumhardt, executive officer of the 25th Infantry Division’s 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, said in a news release.

Texas Watchdog compared Harris County's voter registration roll with the Social Security death index and found more than 4,000 matches -- registered voters that, it appears, are already dead.

Auditors identified 49,049 registered voters state-wide who may have been ineligible to vote. Approximately 23,576 may have been deceased and another 23,114 were possible felons. And they found more than 2,359 duplicate records.

The county's system for culling deceased voters from the roll seems painfully primitive.

We watched employees clip obituaries from the newspaper and sort through probate records for names matching those on the roll. But, Hammerlein says while fraud is a concern, for his office, disenfranchising voters is a bigger one.

"We do all we can, but you know we'd rather err on the side of leaving people on the roll instead of taking them off inadvertently," he said.

Texas Watchdog found 4,462 registered voters who appear to be deceased.

After reading the litany of letters in the past weeks endorsing this candidate or that I am outraged and embarrassed at either the ignorance or the naivete of these citizens.

John McCain has associated intimately with lobbyist groups for years, along with Democratic vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden. Barack Obama is second only to Democrat Chris Dodd in money received from lobbyist groups representing Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. What about Sarah Palin? She was for the Bridge to Nowhere until it became such a political focal point, and then she was against it.

These candidates do not deserve your consideration. Vote no for president. Send a message!

Our nation stands on the brink of a finacial catastrophe experienced only by the most senior of our citizens, and three of the four names mentioned above stood guard while this cancer festered. If they were not diligent in the past, why will they care in the future?

The American citizens want change, but nobody wants to pay the price.

Listening to politicians, regardless of party, discuss economics makes me sick both to my head and to my stomach. And the only people who are not similarly affected, I fear, are persons whose knowledge of economics is sufficiently scant -- or whose ethics are sufficiently perverted -- to protect their senses from being insulted by what issues forth from the mouths of politicians speaking on economic topics.

So as an economist, I am no more interested in having Sen. Obama (or Sen. McCain) come to GMU's campus to lecture us on "how to manage the economy" than I would be, say, to have O.J. Simpson come to GMU's campus to lecture us on how to manage one's marriage.

Thanks for your note asking if GMU Econ is interested in inviting Barack Obama to campus in order for him to outline his "economic plan."

I can't go along with your suggestion. First, and most practically, such an invitation would really have to come from either the Office of the Provost or the Office of the President -- not from the Chairman of the Department of Economics.

Second, and most importantly, I have negative willingness to be part of an effort to give any politician a platform to speak about economics. Very few of them have any knowledge of the subject, and even fewer of them are courageous enough to speak about it honestly.

Locals complain that federal and state regulators have hampered the fishing and timber industries to protect forestlands and endangered species such as sucker fish and the spotted owl. Jobs are so scarce that the median income in the area is only two-thirds that of the rest of the state. Most water from the rainy Shasta region is shipped south, with little economic benefit to the area. Even the California sales tax draws sneers.

Some folks around here think the economic sky is falling and state lawmakers in Sacramento and Salem are ignoring their constituents in the hinterlands.

Guess the time is ripe to create a whole new state.

That's the thinking up here along the border between California and Oregon, where 12 sparsely populated, thickly forested counties in both states want to break away and generate the 51st star on the nation's flag - the state of Jefferson.

You can even hear the dissent on the radio, where 21 area FM stations broadcast from Oregon into California under the banner of "Jefferson Public Radio."

"We have nothing in common with you people down south. Nothing," said Randy Bashaw, manager of the Jefferson State Forest Products lumber mill in the Trinity County hamlet of Hayfork. "The sooner we're done with all you people, the better."
