Reading your Hotmail directly from Gmail

This is a simple hack that will allow you to read your free Hotmail (No POP3 enabled) emails directly from GMail.

Recently GMail has enabled a feature that allows you to read mail from other POP3 enabled email accounts . (To learn more in detail how to set this up please read the instructions ...however this is of no great importance to our hack.)

As you might (not) be aware however that Hotmail (the free version) has no POP3 support so I registered an account on IzyMail which basically asks for your username and password and then provides a POP3 server on IzyMail from which you can connect to retrieve your HotMail electronic mails.

This is really helpful when sending sections of webpages in Gmail. Simply drag your selections from the web page onto your Gmail composition field in the adjacent split pane.

Split Browser

This splits the content area of the browser window as you like. It will help you in various cases. For example, to compare multiple webpages, to show a calendar always, and so on.

There is some ways to split window.

* Choose the "Split Browser to" menu in the context menu.
* Choose the "Load in Split Browser" menu in the context menu on link.
* Click popup-button on top/bottom/left/right edges of the content area.

* Drop links, bookmarks, etc. to popup-button on top/bottom/left/right edges of the content area while dragging.

You can split browsers over and over. Status of split browsers are saved, and automatically restored on the next startup.

Backing up your Gmail locally

To back up ALL of your Gmail, simply navigate to the Forwarding and POP section of your Settings in Gmail, and in the POP Download section click the radio button beside "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)".

Then configure the email client exactly as described on the Configuring instructions link at the bottom of the POP Download section. There are instructions for virtually every major email client out there, and even if your client isn't listed, it should be fairly simple to see how to configure yours from looking at instructions for a similar client.
And that's it - now all there is to do is wait, and wait, and wait. If you're like me and your Gmail box is already well over half full, it can take quite a while to download close to 2 Gigs of mail. But think of the peace of mind you'll have knowing that your mail is safely in your hands.

Gmail Space 0.5.3 by Rahul Jonna, tnarik

This extension allows you to use your Gmail Space (2.5 GB and growing) for file storage. It acts as an online drive, so you can upload files from your hard drive and access them from every Internet capable system. The interface will make your Gmail account look like a FTP host.

After the installation, you'll get an option called "GSpace" in your "Tools" menu, which opens the GSpace window.

It's great for storing/sharing files with your friends. Also very good to backup photos and music files (as you can view/listen to them from Gspace).
