The Web site for Google's new open-source Chrome browser is slowly waking up. As I first began writing this post, there was a logo, a single screenshot (below), a link to a broken video, and a non-functioning download link. The page now redirects to Google.com, though.

The company is hosting a press conference at its Mountain View, Calif., headquarters Tuesday at 11 a.m. PDT. I will be there and will live blog. Sign up for a reminder in the box at right, or just show up on Webware.com.

Jews, Democrats & Superdelegates

clipper's remarks: Apparently the Jewish vote will be very much an item, since about 10% of Superdelegates are Jewish this time around.

Perfect opportunity to blame the Jews for the outcome of the Dems nomination... regardless of how it turns out & eventually blame them for general election, in case they lose.

According to a new survey conducted by the Forward, a disproportionately large share of the Democratic Party’s superdelegates are Jewish.

And many of them have declared their support for Hillary Clinton, accounting for more than 15 percent of her current backers.

All told, more than 70 Jewish superdelegates will make the trip to Denver this summer for the Democrats’ nominating convention. They account for about 9 percent of the party’s nearly 800 so-called superdelegates, the informal term for elected and party officials whose status as delegates to the convention does not depend on state primaries and caucuses.

If the Democratic presidential primary comes down to a photo finish, these Jewish insiders could play a role in anointing a nominee at the party’s August convention.

Rachel Binah, a longtime Democratic activist from Mendocino County, said she committed to the New York senator after some “heavy arm-twisting,” which included phone calls from both Chelsea and Hillary Clinton.

Disaster in Minneapolis - Bridge Collapses

There are reports of seven dead after a freeway bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis collapsed today, sending many cars into the water.

A truck driver told the Star Tribune he was driving at about 16 kmh in bumper-to-bumper traffic when the road fell away in front of him.

"I fell probably about 30 or 40 feet, landed on the [inaudible] of the Mississippi. I'm so lucky to be alive," the unnamed man said.

"On the way down I thought I was dead. I literally thought I was dead. My truck was completely face down, was pointing towards the ground, falling towards the ground.

"My truck ripped in half. When I got out of my truck it was folded in half. I can't believe I am alive."

He said his seatbelt was the reason he was alive.

"I had my seatbelt on and if I didn't I probably would have went through the windshield. I only have a cut on my face from the steering wheel.

"I saw a tanker go head first into the water. There was only about five feet at the back end showing out of the water."

Boeing's 787 Dreamliner gets an international welcome

EVERETT -- In a ceremony with international flavor including its partners around the world, The Boeing Co. unveiled its newest jetliner, opening the hangar doors of its Everett factory Sunday to reveal the 787 Dreamliner to thousands gathered there and others watching around the globe.

To help present it, flight attendants in the uniforms of the 47 airlines that have ordered the plane stood on the stage as the company recognized its customers, partners and employees.

"For all of you that made this dream a reality, I am proud to premiere the Boeing 787 Dreamliner," said Mike Bair, vice president and general manager of the 787 program.

"It's taking advantage of new technology from engineering to new material, but it's still an airplane and it has to be flown by pilots," he said. "I'm looking forward to being a captain on the 787."
