A Bronx beat cop who betrayed his badge and his long-time friend were busted Friday for their roles in a large-scale cocaine-peddling ring, the feds said.

Juan Acosta, a nine-year NYPD veteran, allegedly used a police car to rob a drug dealer of hundreds of thousands of dollars in mid-2005, authorities charged.

The 34-year-old cop, assigned to the 43rd Precinct in the Bronx, also delivered what he thought was 10 kilos of cocaine after boasting his NYPD ties would keep him clear of law enforcement, officials said.

Surveillance video shows Thomas Jenkins standing at the entrance to the Wal-Mart in a town about 13 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. A man comes around the corner, punches Jenkins in the face and the elderly man falls to the ground.

Col. Van T. Barfoot, 90, has raised the Stars and Stripes every day at sunrise and lowered them every day at sunset since he served in the U.S. Army. Philadelphia's district attorney this afternoon announced a grand jury investigation into the shooting of a 21-year-old Port Richmond man by an off-duty officer during a neighborhood fracas.

William Panas Jr. was fatally shot Nov. 21 by Officer Frank Tepper, who claimed he fired in self-defense when the fight spilled out of his home.

15-year-old Charlie Patton says she made a weird face because she was trying to make people smile. On photo day, she said the photographer hesitated before taking the snapshot.

Baxter, the actress best known for playing hippie mom Elyse Keaton on the 1980s sitcom "Family Ties," announced that she's a lesbian and has been keeping her sexual preference a secret for seven years.

"I am a lesbian and it was a later-in-life recognition," Baxter said on NBC's "Today" show. "Some people would say, well, you're living a lie and, you know, the truth is -- not at all. This has only been for the past seven years."

Day and night, Joaquin Rivera's family is haunted by two unbearable thoughts.

The first is of Rivera, a beloved Puerto Rican musician and high school counselor, dying in the waiting room of a Frankford hospital that he visited on Saturday, while suffering with pain in his arm and torso.

The second is of three cold-blooded vultures who, police said, preyed upon the 63-year-old father of three during his final moments, when they stole his old wristwatch.

At some point during the next hour, Rivera, a longtime bilingual counselor at Olney High School, lost consciousness. He inadvertently became a target, Vanore said, to three other people in the waiting room - a black woman, a 30-something, 5-foot-8 black man in dark pants who limped, and a second man, who was later arrested at the hospital and identified as Richard Alten, 44.

SEATTLE - The man suspected of gunning down four police officers in a suburban coffee shop was shot and killed by Seattle police early Tuesday, a sheriff's spokesman said.

Maurice Clemmons was shot to death in a working-class south Seattle neighborhood after police tracked him down using possible hiding spots supplied by Pierce County investigators, said Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the county sheriff.
