Making Money Selling Products on eBay and the Internet

This is going to be different than a lot of those other guides out there because I am not going to tell you to “buy my book” nor will I try to convince someone of a sure fire offer (MLM) that is really just a bogus way to make someone else money.

For this guide we are going to take a look at several different “proven” methods people use to make money online. These may not teach you “how to make millions” but they will definitely help provide more stability in the current economic climate of the US.

There are many common ways that people make money online. They do not require you to be a technical genius and they do not require you to give up all your free time to make them happen.

Installing Applications on Kubuntu Linux – The “Easy” Way!

As I have mentioned before I am gearing this series of articles towards people who are new to Linux and need guides on how to perform basic functions. There are a lot of guides out there that cover the advanced features of Linux but not many that will walk people through the basic things they need to know to get started.

For this guide we are going to be working with a program called “Adept Manager”. Now if you are new to Linux (like me) and you are coming over from a Windows System (like me) you are probably used to working with EXE setup packages and the “Add / Remove Programs” manager in control panel.

The first thing we need to do is open the program. It can be found by going to the following location:

K Menu > System > Adept Manager – Manage Packages

Setting up a Virtual Machine in Kubuntu

A good example for me is that I have been a designer on Windows for so long I NEED to use Photoshop. GIMP is a nice program but I have 10+ years of training in Photoshop and I tend to use it on a daily basis.

This is a good example of where having a virtual machine is useful. Because I am new to Linux myself I can’t tell you if there is a version of Photoshop for Linux or not. But because I have already paid for my license I am going to continue to use this software for as long as possible to get my moneys worth.

So without further delay let’s discuss how to install Windows onto Kubuntu by creating a Virtual Machine.

The first thing you need to do is install “Virtualbox”. You can do this using “Adept Manager”.

K Menu > System > Adept Manager

Once you have Adept Manager open do a search for “Virtualbox”.

Once the program returns search results find:

“Virtualbox-OSE” and click on the program title.

How to Choose a Linux Distribution

If you read my previous article “Microsoft is the Debil!“, than you probably know I am in the process of switching over to Linux. As I mentioned in that article I have no experience what so ever with Linux so I am writing a series of guides to document my first steps to help others who have been considering the switch but are nervous about what it may entail.

There are several considerations I need to make now that I am switching over to Linux. The main consideration is that I will be installing it onto a laptop that me, and my fiancée share so I need to find something she can easily use also.

What Adds Value to Content?

All this work has had me questioning what types of content do users consider valuable? You can read a million guides online about how to promote a business, or advertise a website but once you get people there what will you show them?

I am currently experimenting with a lot of different types of content to see what people react best to as a sign that these topics are of interest to them. I am happy to see the “The BEST Looking “FREE to Play” 3D MMORPG List” is doing good, of the topics I have posted on the site thus far. I worked very hard on putting that list together and I plan to continue to update it so it will remain a useful resource for players in years to come.

01. People tend to like “resources” whether they are compilations of games or services that they can see as a whole, without needing to search multiple sites for the information they are after.

Web 2.0 is a buzz word that was first tossed around by members of O’Reilly media in late 2004 as a way of explaining the evolution of the internet. The basic definition of Web 2.0 is that “Users add Value” – Tim O’Reilly

What this means is that as the internet has evolved, advances in web programming languages and content management systems have made it possible for almost anyone in the world to contribute content to the internet.

Because there is no set standard for what Web 2.0 actually is the definition grows and changes all the time. In doing research for this article I came across a great video by Michael Wesch who is an assistant professor of cultural anthropology at Kansas State University.

Got Problems? Blame them on Grand Theft Auto IV… It’s trendy!

They say history repeats itself every 20 years, but in the case of Rockstar games it is more like every four. With the recent release of their latest title in the Grand Theft Auto series, Rockstar has once again given activist groups something to live for.

The article states that “activist groups, police, politicians, and surviving victims of violence criticized Grand Theft Auto IV last week” saying “[it] is not a game, and it is not a joke.”

This time around GTA IV even has features that will allow MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) to get in on the action, in Rockstar’s new campaign called “No Activist Left Behind!”

Once we have resolved the Grand Theft Auto IV issue everything else should just fall into place.

Why are “Google Alerts” so Valuable?

This may sound pretty basic but it can be a very powerful tool for many reasons. The internet has gotten to a point where it is considered tacky to waste ones time browsing sites on a high speed connection. In the world we live in, where people feel they need instant access to specific information at all times, the RSS feed is king.

The best way to understand why they are so convenient is to go to the Google Alerts homepage and set one up to see just what they are all about. You can reach the homepage from the following link:

Let’s start by putting in our search terms. For our example let’s use:

“Pseudorant”

Keep in mind that you are not limited to just words or titles. You can setup alerts for advanced search queries to find very specific information. Google Alerts will let you setup search terms using all the common Google operators.

Aye Candy! The Visually Appealing FREE MMORPG List

Take a look through the list below for some of the BEST free to play MMORPGs available. All the games listed here will be sorted by date with the most recent releases near the top of the list to help players select a game that will allow them to get in near the ground floor with other lower level players. (All release dates are approximate due to the nature of JP, EU, and US release dates.)

The reason I am creating a selective list is because we are focusing on MMORPGs here. Two main factors that lend themselves to playability are a decent population of players, and a game where not every character is at the level cap already. This means that generally to meet these conditions we need to set our sights on newer titles.

What I am doing instead, is compiling a list of games that have visually stunning graphics and gameplay.

and as such these are the recommendations I am making.
