Since all my friends know that I love photography I receive tons of forwarded emails with pictures. I rarely share these since most of them are already wide spread but this collection is different.

A Briton living in Australia has agreed a bid of more than £192,000 after putting his "entire life" up for sale following a split from his wife.

Ian Usher, 44, who left Darlington six years ago, included his house, car, job and friends in the online eBay auction, in an effort to make a fresh start.

The lot attracted a peak offer of 399,300 Australian dollars (£192,276) when bids closed early on Sunday.

Despite expecting higher bids, Mr Usher said he had "no regrets".

At one point offers on the "life lot" rocketed to over two million Australian dollars (£1m) within hours of the sale's start last Sunday.

Up for auction was his three-bedroom home, in Western Australia's capital Perth, and everything inside it, including his Mazda car, motorcycle, jet ski and parachuting gear.

SEATTLE (Reuters) - The U.S. post office in Seattle's historic Pioneer Square district can see the future coming. In fact, it moved in next door.

At least, that's the bet Ron Wiener, CEO of Earth Class Mail, is making. His company seeks to transform a mail box at a fixed location into an digital inbox, like e-mails, that can be accessed on the Internet.

For a monthly fee, Earth Class Mail provides customers with a new mailing address. Letters and parcels sent to that address will be bar-coded, sized and scanned with the images uploaded onto the customer's online mailbox.

After logging-on, the customer chooses what to do with that mail: open and scan, shred, recycle, archive or forward it to another location.

Similar to how mobile phones have made it unnecessary to wait at home for an important phone call, Wiener said Earth Class Mail will forever change the notion of checking the mailbox for letters or parcels.

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama sought to tap into Americans' anxiety over high gasoline prices on Monday by pledging to seek a windfall profits tax on U.S. oil companies if elected.

"I'll make oil companies like Exxon pay a tax on their windfall profits, and we'll use the money to help families pay for their skyrocketing energy costs and other bills," the Illinois senator said.

Critics of the windfall profits tax say it proved to be counterproductive when it was last put in place in the United States in 1980 during the final year of President Jimmy Carter's administration.

Those critics say the measure prompted oil companies to cut back on domestic production while failing to raise as much in tax revenue as lawmakers expected. It was repealed in 1988 during the Reagan administration.

It's the second week of June. Summer, for all practical purposes. And there's STILL snow from our Wicked Winter of '08 that hasn't melted yet.

I'm hopelessly in awe at the staying power of snow that started falling around here more than half a year ago and didn't stop until reaching 100 or more inches. It would be like impatiens still blooming in your garden at Christmas.

Mike Radtke, lead groundskeeper at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, still had a snow pile to look over last week in the center atrium of a parking ramp used by hospital employees.

This pyramid-shaped pile, which was about 4 feet wide and 3 feet tall when I last saw it Thursday, was something like 40 feet tall earlier this winter. It was created from snow pushed into the atrium from the structure's upper deck.

The more noticeable snow at Children's Hospital, in a sheltered spot along the north wall of the public parking ramp near 91st and Watertown Plank Road, melted to nothing on Memorial Day weekend.

Todd Davis has dared criminals for two years to try stealing his identity: Ads for his fraud-prevention company, LifeLock, even offer his Social Security number next to his smiling mug.

Now, LifeLock customers in Maryland, New Jersey and West Virginia are suing Davis, claiming his service didn't work as promised and he knew it wouldn't, because the service had failed even him.

Attorney David Paris said he found records of other people applying for or receiving driver's licenses at least 20 times using Davis' Social Security number, though some of the applications may have been rejected because data in them didn't match what the Social Security Administration had on file.

Davis acknowledged in an interview with The Associated Press that his stunt has led to at least 87 instances in which people have tried to steal his identity, and one succeeded: a guy in Texas who duped an online payday loan operation last year into giving him $500 using Davis' Social Security number.

If you are getting fed up of all the vampires, booze mail and super wall posts, then help could be on the way.

The social network site Facebook is getting ready for the first major makeover in its short history.

Designers are planning some widespread changes to the way the core profile page is organised, aimed at making it "simpler, cleaner and more relevant".

The site is consulting its users on the changes ahead of a gradual roll out starting next month.

Facebook is currently based around a single main page showing a news feed, friends and applications.

But critics say a big increase in the number of free gifts, games and quizzes has left the site looking cluttered and confusing.

Facebook's answer is to split the main profile into five separate pages, all accessed by clicking on tabs at the top of the screen.

Claim: The state of Missouri named a stretch of highway adopted by the Ku Klux Klan the "Rosa Parks Highway."

Status: True.

I'm sure many of you are aware that about two weeks ago, the US Supreme Court ruled that the state of Missouri cannot discriminate against the Ku Klux Klan when it comes to groups that want to participate in the adopt-a-highway program. Of course, while the name of the Klan is aesthetically disgusting, we'd all agree that this decision is a victory for free speech and equal protection under the law, right?

Well, the DOT in Missouri has gotten their revenge, and boy is it sweet. Sure, they can't remove the KKK's adopt-the-highway sign, but few would dispute the state's ability to name the highway itself.

The KKK is now cleaning up a stretch of the newly-christened Rosa Parks Freeway.

Olbermann was responding to Bush's claim that he had given up golf in honor of the Iraq war — and his assertion that a Democratic president withdrawing from Iraq would "eventually lead to another attack on the United States" — a statement Olbermann called "ludicrous, infuriating, holier-than-thou and most importantly bone-headedly wrong."
