Gore cancels climate conference event

Former Vice President Al Gore on Thursday abruptly canceled a Dec. 16 personal appearance that was to be staged during the United Nations' Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, which begins next week.

As described in The Washington Times' Inside the Beltway column Tuesday, the multimedia public event to promote Mr. Gore's new book, "Our Choice," included $1,209 VIP tickets that granted the holder a photo opportunity with Mr. Gore and a "light snack."

Berlingkse Media, a Danish group coordinating ticket sales and publicity for the event, said that "great annoyance" was a factor in the cancellation, along with unforeseen changes in Mr. Gore's program for the climate summit. The decision affected 3,000 ticket holders.

Jesse Jackson's Broken Moral Compass

Rev. Jesse Jackson's acrimonious statement, that a black congressman cannot call himself black unless he votes for healthcare, has elevated the level of vitriol by interjecting race into the health care debate. At the

foundation's reception honoring the 25^th anniversary of his presidential run Rev. Jackson said:

We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill from Alabama. You can't vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.

Reverend Jackson's statement was directed at Representative Artur Davis of Alabama, one of 39 Democrats and the only member of the CBC that voted against the Pelosi health care bill. Rev. Jackson's statement implies skin pigmentation, rather than morals and principles, predisposes a black person to vote up or down for a particular piece of legislation.

Ron Miller, candidate for Maryland State Senate who happens to be a black un-hyphenated American, said in a recent article titled "What Makes a Black Man?":

Copenhagen is preparing for the climate change summit that will produce as much carbon dioxide as a town the size of Middlesbrough.

On a normal day, Majken Friss Jorgensen, managing director of Copenhagen's biggest limousine company, says her firm has twelve vehicles on the road. During the "summit to save the world", which opens here tomorrow, she will have 200.

"We thought they were not going to have many cars, due to it being a climate convention," she says. "But it seems that somebody last week looked at the weather report."

Ms Jorgensen reckons that between her and her rivals the total number of limos in Copenhagen next week has already broken the 1,200 barrier. The French alone rang up on Thursday and ordered another 42. "We haven't got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand," she says. "We're having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden."

NPR reporter pressured over Fox role

Executives at National Public Radio recently asked the network’s top political correspondent, Mara Liasson, to reconsider her regular appearances on Fox News because of what they perceived as the network’s political bias, two sources familiar with the effort said.

According to a source, Liasson was summoned in early October by NPR’s executive editor for news, Dick Meyer, and the network’s supervising senior Washington editor, Ron Elving. The NPR executives said they had concerns that Fox’s programming had grown more partisan, and they asked Liasson to spend 30 days watching the network.

At a follow-up meeting last month, Liasson reported that she’d seen no significant change in Fox’s programming and planned to continue appearing on the network, the source said.

Media endorsing Obama's socialist agenda?

A media watchdog organization is calling the mainstream media to task for failing to report on Barack Obama's radical redistributionist views.

The Media Research Center (MRC) is concerned about a recently surfaced interview Obama made in 2001 with Chicago Public Radio. In the interview, Obama laments that "the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society." Tim Graham, the director of media analysis at the MRC, is troubled by the media's lack of coverage.

"We found it rather stunning that State Senator Obama gave interviews in 2001, suggesting that the Constitution was flawed, that it really needed to be rewritten in a sense to allow more redistribution of wealth, but the news media hasn't found this to be much of a story," he explains.

Scientific progress depends on accurate and complete data. It also relies on replication. The past couple of days have uncovered some shocking revelations about the baloney practices that pass as sound science about climate change.

It was announced Thursday afternoon that computer hackers had obtained 160 megabytes of e-mails from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in England. Those e-mails involved communication among many scientific researchers and policy advocates with similar ideological positions all across the world. Those purported authorities were brazenly discussing the destruction and hiding of data that did not support global-warming claims.

At first, the reports were infrequent. They seemed remote, like border clashes in some distant land. Then the reports became more insistent. Today, dedicated Web sites track the new phenomenon on a daily basis: the accommodation of Islam at the expense of the dominant culture and religion.

Consider some recent examples:

A British flight attendant was fired for refusing to wear a black robe, and walk behind her male colleagues, on flights to and from Saudi Arabia;

Yale University published a book on the notorious "Danish cartoons" of Mohammed (including the one shown above), but Yale censored the book and removed the cartoons, citing possible violence;

British banks discontinued their tradition of giving out toy pigs to young children; they also stopped using drawings of pigs (such as Piglet from Winnie-the-Pooh) in their advertising.

The previous Thursday, news had begun to circulate that hacked documents and communications from the University of East Anglias Hadley Climate Research Unit (CRU) had been published to the internet. The information revealed how top scientists conspired to falsify data in the face of declining global temperatures in order to prop up the premise that man-made factors are driving climate change. To ensure the public that the media and Al Gore are aware of the facts that prove global warming to be a hoax, patriots from WAC Chicago marched to the book signing. Scattered throughout a crowd of a few hundred were members of WAC Chicago ready to ask Al Gore what he thought about ClimateGate.
