McCain Palin Inciting Racist Hate Crimes Against Obama & Supporters

That's all the McCain campaign has left. After falling so far behind in the polls their odds of winning in November seem to have dried up right before their very eyes, John McCain and Sarah Palin have turned to inciting their crowds in a fervor of hate, foaming at the mouth while spitting out lies about their opponents.

In speeches on Monday and Tuesday, McCain and Palin did not stop to correct or reprimand supporters who yelled out, "Terrorist!" "Treason!" and "Kill Him!" directed at Obama. Instead McCain and Palin laughed, and continued their hate filled neo-Nazi messages.

It's already working to harm Obama supporters. A man wearing an Obama t-shirt was shot in the face three times by a white man yelling, "I f-ing hate n-'s."

All they have left is Fear. Hate. Racism.

Tiger Woods is not Obama. Obama is not Tiger Woods. They are not so irrelevant that they are exchangeable. Can't the Republicans think of anything intelligent to do in their remarks and introductions other than make "Freudian slips" (osama for obama) and tasteless comments like this?

This is disgusting. And anyone who doesn't get it needs to go back to their High School history books and read a few chapters.

No, Steve, you are not the only one that finds it offensive. I found it rather offensive and also out and out silly in the HUH? kind of way. There was no point to it at all. They were disparaging Woods and by ways of omission, Obama, and a backhanded slap to any person of colorl

I’m not easily offended, but that comment really sours on me. It would be fine if there was ANY comparison between Tiger Woods and Obama besides their mixed race. But there isn’t. So the only reasonable parsing of the guy’s comments are: “You can have your mixed race guy, we have John McCain”. That’s plain-vanilla racism.

There are many levels of racism. There’s the vicious kind, which is easy to spot. And there’s the “I don’t see what the big deal is” kind that, to the perpetrator, feels like merely stating fact.

It’s offensive because it blatantly and unabashedly holds up the standard of the Old White Man as inherently superior to the newfangled mixed-race guy.

Three Little Pigs 'too offensive'

A story based on the Three Little Pigs has been turned down from a government agency's annual awards because the subject matter could offend Muslims.

The digital book, re-telling the classic fairy tale, was rejected by judges who warned that "the use of pigs raises cultural issues".

The judges also attacked Three Little Cowboy Builders for offending builders.

The book's creative director, Anne Curtis, said that the idea that including pigs in a story could be interpreted as racism was "like a slap in the face".

They also warned that the story might "alienate parts of the workforce (building trade)".

Hate Crimes Rose 8 Percent in 2006

WASHINGTON (AP) - Hate crime incidents rose nearly 8 percent last year, the FBI reported Monday, as civil rights advocates increasingly take to the streets to protest what they call official indifference to intimidation and attacks against blacks and other minorities.

Police across the nation reported 7,722 criminal incidents in 2006 targeting victims or property as a result of bias against a race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origin or physical or mental disability. That was up 7.8 percent from 7,163 incidents reported in 2005.

More than half the incidents were motivated by racial prejudice, but the report did not even pick up all the racially motivated incidents last year.

Bill Clinton hailed the courage of the Little Rock Nine

Ex-US President Bill Clinton is in his home state of Arkansas to mark the 50th anniversary of the integration crisis at Little Rock Central High School.

The crisis saw a three week stand-off between a group of nine black students and an angry mob who wanted to stop them attending the all-white school.

The event became a seminal moment in the civil rights struggle in the US.

The case there of jailed black high school children, with its allegations of unequal racially-based justice, has for some brought back memories of those earlier, less enlightened times being remembered in Little Rock, our correspondent adds.

Blinded By The White: OJ Simpson vs. The Jena Six

Why is it that mainstream white media and white folks in general are so obsessed (once again) with OJ's guilt but paying little or no attention to the innocence of the Jena Six?

There was a series of violent incidents were white students attacked black students. The government and school administrators ignored those. But when a white student was beaten up by six black students in a schoolyard fight --- after provoking the black students with racist taunts --- the District Attorney charged the black students with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. They were charged in adult court. Meanwhile, the white student they beat up suffered only minor cuts and bruises. One of the black students, Mychal Bell --- age 16 --- has been in prison since December. Last month, an all-white jury decided that Bell was guilty --- not guilty of beating up a student who racially taunted him, but guilty of attempted murder.

Much respect to Staples Inc., Procter & Gamble Co., American Express, Sprint Nextel Corp., General Motors and Bigelow Tea for stepping up to the plate last week by pulling their advertising dollars from the New York-based radio show.

The same FCC that fined CBS $550,000 three years ago for airing Janet Jackson's breast during the Super Bowl halftime should hold CBS accountable for allowing Imus to spew his venom on the air. What happened on April 4 was anything but an isolated incident.

My prayer is that the Don Imus incident becomes a watershed moment in the history of African America the way Michael Richards' racist rantings a few months ago awakened many to the perils and harmfulness of the N-word. The shock waves from that fallout are still being felt all over the nation with elected officials and others taking steps to make it clear to everyone that the word is wholly unacceptable.

The offensive, the senseless, the bigoted, the inaccurate: a year in right-wing nuttery.

How extreme were conservative commentators in their remarks this year? How about calls to nuke the Middle East and an allegation that a "gay … mafia" used the congressional page program as its own "personal preserve." Right-wing rhetoric documented by Media Matters for America included the nonsensical (including Rush Limbaugh's claim that America's "obesity crisis" is caused by, among other things, our failure to "teach [the poor] how to butcher a -- slaughter a cow to get the butter, we gave them the butter"), the offensive (such as right-wing pundit Debbie Schlussel's question about "Barack Hussein Obama": Is he "a man we want as president when we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam? Where will his loyalties be?"), and the simply bizarre (such as William A. Donohue's claim that some Hollywood stars would "sodomize their own mother in a movie"). Since there were so many outrageous statements, we included a list of honorable mentions along with the top 11, which, if not for Ann Coulter, we might have limited to 10.

clipper's remarks: Sigh, One of the first things i saw when I read this article on the BBC website, is how the BBC web page master managed to line up the defendants "ballooned" up lips in a row, as if to emphasize the "babooon" animal like qualities that so many people stereotype with the black race.
I may be feeling cynical today, but I think this is a deliberate and subtle way of keeping stereotypes fresh in our minds.

They look even more animal than perhaps they might in a full uncropped photo.

It’s Not Hillary or Obama, it’s Hillary AND Obama!

The next presidential election in 2008 seemingly poses two blunt questions for those voting for the Democrat candidate: (1) Is America ready for a woman president (Hillary Clinton)? (2) Is America ready for a black president (Barack Obama)? I use the term “seemingly” because, if some political masterminds are correct, voters may be casting their ballots for a female president and a black vice president.

According to those who practice punditry, forces are at work behind the scenes testing the waters and sampling the polls to see how such a female/black combination would fare among the electorate. Public opinion seems to run along prejudicial lines if either candidate is considered separately - racism versus sexism. But if both Senators Clinton and Obama are thought of as a team, race and gender take a back seat to winning the White House.

Of the list of potential Democrat candidates in 2008, Hillary Clinton is currently supported by 28 percent of Democrat voters while Barack Obama gets 17 percent (CNN poll, November 2006). Together, the duo could garner nearly half the Democrat vote plus any Republican or independent crossover votes they might accrue.

Why would American voters accept a female/black team when they ostensibly would reject either candidate running separately? First of all, most Americans say they would vote for a woman or a black for president if the circumstances were correct. Americans have become used to females occupying the top spot in other countries: Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President Mary McAleese of Ireland, President Michelle Bachelet of Chile, and at least nine other women currently in power. And let’s not forget Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher who headed the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990, and Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of India, whose two separate terms spanned 18 years.
