He described the campaign's general voter registration drive — which has focused heavily on young voters, as well as African-Americans — as "a very extensive effort and that's been one of the highlights and major focuses of the campaign."

Obama's campaign is led by two of America's leading experts on the subtle dynamics of race and politics: the candidate himself and consultant David Axelrod, who has made a specialty of helping to elect black mayors and, more recently, the first black governor of Massachusetts. The model has been consistent: a media campaign that focuses intensely on white swing voters and a massive push to bring to the polls black voters who need no convincing of the historic nature of the candidacy.

As Barack Obama trekked through the Philadelphia suburbs, Northern Virginia and Greensboro, N.C., in recent days, his campaign was ramping up a massive parallel effort in big cities like Detroit, Cleveland and Miami.

Though the rallies are publicized, much of the advertising directed at black voters isn't.

Monday morning, the deadline for registration in several key states, Obama appeared on two of the most widely heard African-American radio programs, where hosts implored listeners to register to vote and Obama directed them to his campaign's registration website.

"The African-American vote can be a game-changer in all sorts of states," Obama told host Steve Harvey. "In Florida, in Indiana, in North Carolina, in Ohio. I just want people to look at the numbers."

Little of this targeted outreach has produced images of Obama addressing black crowds or mingling with black officials, and most has gone unnoticed by the broader electorate.

I went to this site to have a good source of information to refute the hate emails and replied to all who received, and sent, the smear emails I have received. I encourage you to do the same if you have the misfortune to be sent trashy lies about Barack Obama. To say nothing is to condone the sending and receiving of such emails.

Do we really need another George Bush in the White house, even if this time, it's second in command?

I never vote straight Dem or Rep.... I vote the competency of the leader, and my friends, I think every time I try to see both sides objectively, one side, keeps playing lowball games which lets down the American people who deserve better.

Choosing a woman who is UNQUALIFIED WOMAN demeans competent REPUBLICAN WOMEN LEADERS as well as Women voters.

Katherin Sibelius (sp) would have been a great choice as a competent, intelligent woman, for example. Don't you think McCain insults his Republican party by choosing someone less than the absolute best for his "beloved" country?

This is shameful to ALL AMERICANS no matter what side of the fence you sit on.... they are hiding Palin from the media for a good reason.

This week, as part of their tenth birthday celebrations, Google have announce the launch of project 10^100 (ten to the 100th), an innovative scheme designed to inspire and fund the development of ideas that will help to change the world.

The internet giant has called on members of the public to share their ideas for solutions that will help as many people as possible in the global community, offering a $10 million prize pool to back the development of those chosen as winners.

When announcing the scheme live on CNN yesterday morning, Bethany Poole, Project Marketing Manager for Google, and Andy Berndt, MD of Google’s Creative Lab, were keen to stress that any idea that could be developed to benefit the global community would be considered.

Start a bank and if it is nearing collapse, no problem. The government will bail you out.

Lost you job because the corporation is closing the plant and moving overseas where cheaper labor can be found? Tough luck Jack - you are on your own.

It's called a revolution! You wanted revolution, well you got it. Revolution for the rich.

Feudalism, the 21st century variety. But this time every peasant gets a car and a TV. That's if you can afford to put the gas in it or pay the cable bill.

So just keep your mouth shut and get in line.

Remember, if we don't treat the rich with respect they won't invest their money and create jobs for us.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m a big fan of Barack Obama,

But after reading his autobiography, I have to say that Barack engages in some serious exaggeration when he describes a job that he held in the mid-1980s. I know because I sat down the hall from him, in the same department, and worked closely with his boss.

I certainly know what he did there, and it bears only a loose resemblance to what he wrote in his book.

First, it wasn’t a consulting house; it was a small company that published newsletters on international business

essentially the job was copyediting

All of Barack’s embellishment serves a larger narrative purpose: to retell the story of the Christ’s temptation

I can’t listen uncritically to Barack Obama now that I know he’s willing to bend the facts to his purpose.
