These donkeys are from all over North America, and have been abused or neglected in the past. This farm has taken in 45 animals, and runs on donations. My sister sponsored one of the donkeys, in my children’s names, as a gift to them. They were mailed frequent updates on the goings on at the sanctuary, and our donkey in particular….Hershey. This is him on the right.

I have been wanting to go to this yarn store, and meet the owner, Julie, for a long, long time. I was not disappointed. My eyes seriously bugged out at all of the yarn. I wanted to bury myself in it, and just lie there for a while. It was overwhelming. Here’s my mother-in-law looking through some patterns:

<clipSource>http://loopyknitter.wordpress.com/2008/09/04/such-a-donkey/</clipSource>

Google Chrome is here

clipped by: wildcat
clipper's remarks: This is just the beginning -- Google Chrome is far from done. We're releasing this beta for Windows to start the broader discussion and hear from you as quickly as possible. We're hard at work building versions for Mac and Linux too, and will continue to make it even faster and more robust.

We owe a great debt to many open source projects, and we're committed to continuing on their path. We've used components from Apple's WebKit and Mozilla's Firefox, among others -- and in that spirit, we are making all of our code open source as well. We hope to collaborate with the entire community to help drive the web forward.

Clip Source: googleblog.blogspot.com

At Google, we have a saying: “launch early and iterate.” While this approach is usually limited to our engineers, it apparently applies to our mailroom as well! As you may have read in the blogosphere, we hit "send" a bit early on a comic book introducing our new open source browser, Google Chrome. As we believe in access to information for everyone, we've now made the comic publicly available -- you can find it here. We will be launching the beta version of Google Chrome tomorrow in more than 100 countries.

So why are we launching Google Chrome? Because we believe we can add value for users and, at the same time, help drive innovation on the web.

We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser. What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that's what we set out to build.

Tags: google chrome, browser, opensource

<clipSource>http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/fresh-take-on-browser.html</clipSource>

Why Firefox, Not Internet Explorer, Is Chrome's Real Target

clipped by: Brian Caulfield
clipper's remarks: Smart analysis -- and, as always, some good dirt -- from Valleywag's Owen Thomas.

Clip Source: valleywag.com

The infighting between the browser maker and the search engine shows the limits of open source's "sharing is caring" ideology. Open-source projects can be just as political as proprietary code — and as vulnerable to twisting for corporate priorities. The bottom line of Google Chrome's creation? The bottom line. Google was worried that Firefox was making too much money, and Mozilla was getting too independent. Mozilla had to be stopped — and the true Firefox believers at Google had to be cajoled into doing Larry and Sergey's dirty work.

Tags: chrome, internet, explorer, firefox, mozilla

<clipSource>http://valleywag.com/5044512/what-took-google-so-long-to-build-a-browser</clipSource>

How to get a job?

clipped by: mugofcoffee
clipper's remarks: Thanks to:
wikiHow - The How-to Manual That You Can Edit

Clip Source: www.wikihow.com

Steps

Network. The best
companies to work for tend to rely heavily (up to 40%) on employee
referrals.[1] Make a list of all of your
friends, relatives, and acquaintances. Call each one and ask them
if they know of any openings that they could recommend you for.
Don't be too humble or apologetic; tell them what you've been
looking for, but let them know that you're flexible and that if
they have any suggestions, you're open to them. This is not the
time to be picky about jobs; a connection can often get your foot
in the door, and you can negotiate pay or switch positions later,
once you've gained experience and established your reputation.

Volunteer.

Develop your personal

The nice thing about it is that it usually presents the “facts” in a general and easy to read manner, but provides references for more in depth study. Wikipedia should be an aid to study, but not used as a study resource exclusively. That’s what peer reviewed journals and books are for. In my high school days there was a similar problem with Encarta."

Clip Source: www.crunchgear.com

Parents blame kids’ failing test scores on Wikipedia

Dumb kids in Scotland are failing tests not because they’re dumb, or because they haven’t properly prepared, but because Wikipedia is evil and mean and “littered with inaccuracies.” Shucks, and I thought Wikipedia was to be trusted 100 percent of the time.

Right, so the Scottish Parent Teacher Council, which just sounds like a fun group, hated on Wikipedia the other day because Scottish test scores are going down and they’ve seemingly pegged Wikipedia as the culprit. Too much opinion presented as fact, too much out-and-out wrong information for the SPTC’s liking.

One comment on The Scotsman makes a fair, if tired, point:

Easier to blame Wikipedia than the fact that you’re poor parents and your children are out partying or playing video games.
Inaccuracies are found in standard encyclopedias (and newspapers) too. And besides, don’t your schools provide textbooks?
