It does not seem to impede introspection at all. It sort of sets the stage, I guess. Most of my thinking time, however, has not been on the road. It's at the campsite, or in the river, or while taking photos, or while processing photos or while just sitting out in nature somewhere. So music just sets up those moments for me. If you haven't done so already, download a lot of new music you like for your travels. Tristan Prettyman, Joshua James, James, Liz Phair, KT Tunstall, Ryan Adams, Bob Schnieder, Jakob Dylan and Collective Soul - were the main players on my journey.

<clipSource>http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=354446&page=45</clipSource>

tire pressuress

clipped by: MotoMan711

Clip Source: www.gixxer.com

did your dealer ask you what compounds you wanted? if not, you most likely got the bt-002rs without even knowing it.

the bt-002rs is the street version. they are only available in one compound. if you got these, run them at 31psi front and rear.

the bt-002 pro is their old d.o.t. race tire that is not being produced anymore, but are still available at some places. they come in 3 different compound, type 2 (hard), type 3 (medium), and type 4 (soft). if you got these, run them at 27psi rear and 29psi front.

the new d.o.t. race tire is the bt-003 pro, and is available in the same 3 compounds. if you got these, run them at 25 psi rear and 27psi front.

Tags: tires

<clipSource>http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198482&highlight=pressure+bridgestone</clipSource>

MC

clipped by: MotoMan711

Clip Source: www.gixxer.com

thanks for the info...I'll definately hold off on the galfers and the braking...I'm definately interested in the axis cobra rotors, in stainless. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm definately not interested in the iron rotors due to the rusting issue. I'm looking for a performance gain, but don't really want to have to deal with the rusting issue of the iron rotors.

If you want a performance/dollar benefit first make sure you are running SS lines, high quality pads like Vesrah SJRL17's and a Brembo M.C. These 3 items together will cost about the price of a set of rotors and will have a SUBSTANTIAL improvement on braking performance. Whereas another set of aftermarket stainless rotors will feel just about the same as stock.

If performance is first priority, rotors should be at the bottom of your list of things to upgrade next to calipers.

<clipSource>http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=177703&page=2</clipSource>

trails moab

clipped by: MotoMan711

Clip Source: cycleposers.com

I've done the white rim trail several times. it's not to be missed. there are several loops in the moab area that i'd recomend. also if you have a street bike take 128 north from Moab to cisco. that IS the best piece of asphault that i've ever ridden.
also look into the castle valley loop up into Manti-Lasal. the views are very nice. Potash road out towards deadhorse is great. Buy yourself the "Moab east/west maps". they have trail ratings for dificulty. on a klr you migh want to avoid double diamond trails. there are some tough ones out towards golden spike and spider mesa.
-Greg

<clipSource>http://cycleposers.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=156&topic=49.msg487</clipSource>

trails GC

clipped by: MotoMan711

Clip Source: cycleposers.com

Anyone up for a bike trip to ride the White Rim Trail in Canyon Lands National Park, Utah?

Here's a shot of the start of the trail

http://www.turboperl.com/pics2/canyonland.jpg

This is the start of a 107-mile loop that completely circumnavigates
the "Island in the Sky" plateau, which is bounded to the east by the
Colorado River and to the west by the Green River. The White Rim Road
is a four-wheel drive road that was built by uranium prospectors after
World War 2. It winds along the edge of the White Rim and ranges in
elevation from a high of about 5,200 feet down to river level at about

4,000 feet.

Thinking of doing it next spring, summer or Fall.

No permits required. The trail can be completed in about 10 hours, 5 if you really push it.

Speed limit is 15 mph.

I'll be riding a new '08 KLR650. Probably fly out to Mesa AZ and pick up one cheap. Then ride to Moab.

<clipSource>http://cycleposers.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=156&topic=49.msg487</clipSource>

tires

clipped by: MotoMan711

Clip Source: dcsportbikes.com

Man the surface tire wise is muuuuuuch better, I was concerned because I ran a BT002 type 4 (soft) front and Type 3 (med) rear. But they stuck like GLUE and they wore even better. Type 3 front will probably be better as the temps get higher though.

<clipSource>http://dcsportbikes.com/forums/t/96212.aspx?PageIndex=2</clipSource>

MC Route

clipped by: MotoMan711

Clip Source: dcsportbikes.com

<clipSource>http://dcsportbikes.com/forums/t/95683.aspx</clipSource>
