Clipmarks | Lubaska's 'maps' clips

From a note in the margin hand-written by the author himself, we conclude that the map was drawn by Piri at Gelibolu between March and April of 1513 (Arabic 919). In one of these notes Piri cites his references and some twenty maps he had made use of.. Eight of these were new maps of Mappa Mundi, four drawn by the Portuguese, an Indian one in Arabic, and one by Christopher Columbus on the western hemisphere. The most important point to be noted here is the fact that Piri had a map of Columbus, in his hand when 'drawing his own.

For the Kyoto Protocol to become a legally binding treaty, it had to be ratified by countries which together were responsible for at least 55% of the total 1990 emissions reported by the industrialised countries. Below an overview at how much the major polluters emit and where they stand on Kyoto.

US
The US emits more, absolutely and per head, than any other country. When Kyoto was agreed, the US signed and committed to reducing its emissions by 6%. But since then it has pulled out of the agreement and its CO2 emissions have increased to more than 15% above 1990 levels.

Russia's economy has shrunk so drastically since 1990 that industrial activity has dropped, leaving emissions reduced by about 35% and well below the level allowed under Kyoto.

Endemic Bird Areas – The NGO BirdLife International has identified the 218 Endemic Bird Areas worldwide where two or more bird species live that have restricted ranges less than 50,000 km². Most of these areas occur on islands or in mountainous regions and more than 83 percent are forested. More than 20 percent of the world's bird species, including 74 percent of all threatened species, are confined to just 1 percent of the world's land surface within these Endemic Bird Areas and therefore these regions should be the focus of conservation efforts.
