"Some 1.6 billion hectares could be added to the current 1.4 billion hectares of crop land [in the world], and over half of the additionally available land is found in Africa and Latin America," concludes the report, compiled by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Fem ljudboksförlag har vunnit första IPRED-segern och via domstol fått beslutat att operatören Ephone ska ge ut personuppgifter om sina abonnenter. Men det är en seger med bitter eftersmak. Den inblandade chefsrådmannen säger själv att det fortfarande är tveksamt om ett brott ens har ägt rum. I praktiken innebär domen att personuppgifter nu kan lämnas ut för misstanke om småbrott. Det skriver Amelia Andersdotter och Mattias Bjärnemalm från Piratpartiet.

Can machines think? In 1950, Alan Turing, considered by some to be the father of modern computing, published a paper in which he proposed that, "If, during text-based conversation, a machine is indistinguishable from a human, then it could be said to be 'thinking' and, therefore, could be attributed with intelligence." He predicted that a computer would pass this "Turing Test" by the end of the century. That hasn't happened--yet. But the question continues to provoke and inspire.
