It looks like an image from a bygone era: Klan members in ritual hoods and robes. In fact, these photographs were taken in the last decade. In 1998 photojournalist James Edwards Bates set out to document the activities of the KKK in his native Mississippi. Over time, his camera became drawn to the youngest members of the Klan, resulting in a chilling portrait of indoctrination

Millions of children are engaged in hazardous situations or conditions, such as working in mines, working with chemicals and pesticides in agriculture or working with dangerous machinery. They are everywhere but invisible, toiling as domestic servants in homes, labouring behind the walls of workshops, hidden from view in plantations.

Planet Art eXchange 'The Womb' Project

Dubbed ‘The Womb’, the project is a monumental installation designed by a renown designer and will be created by artists over 4 years’ period, it will explore the birth of our consciousness and the rise of our differentiations. By placing the artistic expressions of our differences in the very core of the womb, the artwork invites the viewer to look at our differences with fresh eyes, foetus eyes. For the initiated viewer, there’s no more ‘I’ and ‘He/She’, but only one connected complex being that embraces the most contradicting views of the world.

Bones Galore: The Ossuary at Sedlec

in 1278

When he returned, he brought with him a small amount of earth he had removed from Golgotha and sprinkled it over the abbey cemetery

word of this pious act soon spread and the cemetery in Sedlec became a desirable burial site throughout Central Europe. During the Black Death in the mid 14th century, and after the Hussite Wars in the early 15th century, many thousands of people were buried there

After 1511 the task of exhuming skeletons and stacking their bones in the chapel was, according to legend, given to a half-blind monk

In 1870, František Rint, a woodcarver, was employed by the Schwarzenberg family to put the bone heaps into order. The macabre result of his effort speaks for itself

Advanced Beauty is an ongoing collaboration between programmers, artists, musicians, animators and architects to create audio-reactive ‘video sound sculptures’ using the visual programming language Processing, high-end audio analysis and fluid dynamic simulations alongside intuitive responses in traditional cell animation.

The first collection is a series of audio-reactive ‘video sound sculptures’. Inspired by Synesthesia, the rare, sensory experience of seeing sound or tasting colours, these videos are physical manifestations of sound, sculpted by volume, pitch or structure of the soundtrack.
