Stop policing the language and start using it to hurt our enemies. American liberals are so busy purging their speech of any words that might offend anyone that they have no notion of using language to cause some salutary pain.

Something like, "There are two kinds of Republicans: millionaires and suckers."

The American people are the beneficiaries of centuries of serious Leftist violence, starting with the American Revolution and climaxing in the Civil War. Without brave Leftist warriors slaughtering British and Confederate soldiers in large numbers, the whole tradition of American liberalism would not exist.

And we are the sufferers from the most disastrous wimp-out in recent American history: Carter's debacle in response to the taking of American hostages in Iran in 1979. That refusal to use punitive force to free his country's diplomats may have made pacifists feel nice, but it was an expensive treat

Tags: usa, liberals, language

<clipSource>http://www.alternet.org/mediaculture/80507/?page=entire</clipSource>

Abid Mustafa: "The West to the World: Accept Our Values or Die"

clipped by: Rasmus
clipper's remarks:
The West armed with its secular doctrine and materialistic world-view proceeded to exploit, plunder and colonize vast populations in order to control resources and maximize wealth.

In pursuit of these newfound riches the West succeeded in destroying civilizations such as the Incas, American Indians, Aztecs, and Aborigines. Those who survived colonization were forcibly converted to Christianity, stripped of their heritage and sold into bondage to western companies. For the indigenous people of Africa, India, Asia, the Middle East and others, the promises of freedom quickly evaporated and were replaced by colonial rule. [...]

Resistance offered by the natives towards their colonial masters was met by brute force [...]. When the West was not destroying the natives they were too busy annihilating each other in a desperate bid to cling on to their precious colonies. World Wars I and II are prime examples of the destructive nature of western values.

Clip Source: www.alternet.org

Whenever western governments mention weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and Muslims in the same breath, the western media immediately breaks into a wild frenzy warning its people that a catastrophic event of epic proportions is about to unfold.

Old European fables of Muslims spreading Islam by the sword are reinvented to convey the impression that Muslims are extremely dangerous, highly irresponsible and pay scant regard to human life. Hence the mantra of disarming Muslim countries of WMD has become the rallying cry of the West directed against the Muslim world.

In some cases the arguments are extended to justify the West's ongoing policy of regime change in Syria, Iran and perhaps Pakistan. However, a close study of Islamic rule in the past contradicts the popular western myth that Muslims are bloodthirsty people anxious to wipe out the rest of mankind in the name of Islam.

The same however, cannot be said about the West.

Tags: west, muslim world, islam, threat to world peace, colonization, europe, afghanistan, iraq

<clipSource>http://www.alternet.org/audits/77373/</clipSource>

Story of Jesus Through Iranian Eyes

clipped by: wiccantexan

Clip Source: abcnews.go.com

A new movie in Iran depicts the life of Jesus from an Islamic perspective. "The Messiah," which some consider as Iran's answer to Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ," won an award at Rome's Religion Today Film Festival, for generating interfaith dialogue. The movie will be adapted into a television series, shown on Iranian TV later this year.

NT: We are talking about the same beautiful man, the same beautiful prophet, the same divine person sent from heaven. In the Koran, it emphasizes maybe three main points: about the birth, about the fact that he was not the son of God, and then, that he was not crucified. The rest is [the same] Jesus ... the sermons, and the miracles, and the political situation.

Tags: jesus, christianity, muslim, islam, bible, iran, movie, film

<clipSource>http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=4297085&page=1</clipSource>

Hijab is a personal choice not state law in Turkey

clipped by: Rasmus
clipper's remarks:
In the early eighties, Iran imposed the hijab on its female citizens, while Syria banned it from schools during the same period. headscarf, or to take it off, is a personal choice.

Yet,
the real problem is not in the decision a woman makes, but in the
politicization of that decision. The problem lies in the moral inconsistency
and the use of double standards in addressing an issue concerning individual
choice and freedom of expression. The only morally defensible position is
denying the state the right to either force or prohibit people to follow
practices they genuinely believe to be required by their religious traditions,
particularly when these practices do not violate the rights of others.

The
argument to ban the hijab often rests on a paternalistic attitude derived from
the dominant position enjoyed by the group to which the person who advocate the
hijab ban belongs. For decades now, anti-hijab writers refused to consider it
as a personal choice and an individual right, protected under international
humanitarian law.

Tags: hijab, headscarf, muslim world, turkey, syria, iran, tunesia, paternalism

<clipSource>http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_2951.shtml</clipSource>

Peter Chamberlin: Judgment Day

clipped by: Rasmus
clipper's remarks: Further excerpts:
The criminal producers of our horror movie/psy-war operation intend to establish a new world order based on the ashes of the old. Their utopian world will be a world without conscience or morality, as it will be built upon the deaths of billions, who will have been harvested in the final act of this terrible horror script. Their perfected world (based on death) of unlimited profit to a very limited elite will come into being when Bush gives the order for the attack upon Iran. [...]
The world has been transformed by Bush’s war strategy into a very unstable swirling cauldron of pent up fear and hatred. The decision that he has made to escalate the wars (when his version of diplomacy visibly fails), seeking vindication through the total destruction of all opposition, is a suicidal decision.

Clip Source: onlinejournal.com

The world is being steered into an apocalyptic climax that
defies reason, by largely unknown powers, for unknowable reasons. All of us are among the unfortunate losers in the ultimate
earth lottery, with ringside seats to the end of the world, from which there is
no escape. There is a secretive cabal of criminal minds, who are doing
everything in their (practically limitless) power to violently forge a utopian
world order upon the earth. In this unfolding power play they intend to
pre-enact Judgment Day, to convince the people that time is up, making them
easier to manipulate, using their own religious beliefs against them. What the
Bible gave us as a prophetic warning, these guys are treating as if it was
their script for the worst horror movie of all time.

Here we have a lot of very rich and powerful people
producing and directing a worldwide Hollywood version of the end of the world,

They are thick with the Republican leadership. At a recent conference in Washington, congressional leader Roy Blunt, for example, has said that their work is "part of God's plan." At the same meeting, where speakers promoted attacking Iran, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay glorified "end times." Indeed the Bush administration often consults with them on Mideast policies. The organizer of the conference, Rev. John Hagee, is often welcomed at the White House, although his ratings are among the lowest on integrity and transparency by Ministry Watch, which rates religious broadcasters. He raises millions of dollars from his campaign supporting Israeli settlements on the West Bank, including much for himself.

Clip Source: www.alternet.org

Some fundamentalist evangelicals have moved from forecasting Armageddon to actually trying to bring it about.

Utopian fantasies have long transfixed the human race. Yet today a much rarer fantasy has become popular in the United States. Millions of Americans, the richest people in history, have a death wish. They are the new "Armageddonites," fundamentalist evangelicals who have moved from forecasting Armageddon to actually trying to bring it about.

Most journalists find it difficult to take seriously that tens of millions of Americans, filled with fantasies of revenge and empowerment, long to leave a world they despise. These Armageddonites believe that they alone will get a quick, free pass when they are "raptured" to paradise, no good deeds necessary, not even a day of judgment. Ironically, they share this utopian fantasy with a group that they often castigate, namely fundamentalist Muslims who believe that dying in battle also means direct access to Heaven.

Tags: usa, armageddon, armageddonites, war, fundamentalists, evangelicals, theopolitics

<clipSource>http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/65845/</clipSource>

Wegen Homosexualität von Steinigung bedroht

clipped by: Johanna_G

Clip Source: emma.de

Yasmin K. ist vor eineinhalb Jahren nach Deutschland geflohen, weil ihr im Iran die Steinigung drohte.
