Wir schätzen unsere deutsche Muttersprache, die „Orgel unter den Sprachen“, wie Jean Paul sie nannte. Um sie als eigenständige Kultur- und Wissenschaftssprache zu erhalten und vor dem Verdrängen durch das Englische zu schützen, gründeten wir im Jahr 1997 den Verein Deutsche Sprache. Er ist eine bunte, große und schnell wachsende Bürgerinitiative mit mittlerweile über 30.000 Menschen aus nahezu allen Ländern, Kulturen, Parteien, Altersgruppen und Berufen. Allein ein Drittel davon sind Freunde der deutschen Sprache aus Asien oder Afrika.

Die in der deutschen Allgemeinsprache von 1990 bis 1999 festzustellenden neuen Wörter und Wendungen sind schon zu rund 60 % aus dem Angloamerikanischen entlehnt oder – als Mischbildungen oder Scheinentlehnungen – mit Hilfe angloamerikanischer Wörter oder Wortbausteine gebildet worden.

Die „Amerikanisierung" der deutschen Sprache

wurde dann auch noch dadurch wesentlich begünstigt, daß die „zuständigen" Wissenschaftler

darin im allgemeinen kein Problem

For those of you unfamiliar with New Orleans culture, a good place to start is that there are basically only two kinds of people in New Orleans.

The first is those folks that live, as one [of Bunny's] cartoon characters puts it, in Gatorland -- "Yeah, you know ... ova dere across Magazine where dey all wear dem shoits wid lil' gators on 'em." Otherwise knows as Uptown, you can tell folks from Gatorland in the cartoons because they speak English. Another clue is that all skinny people are from Gatorland, although not all people from Gatorland are skinny. And they often have 59 rows of teeth.

The other kind of New Orleanian is Everyone Else, dose folks dat talk normal.

there are oodles of ways that the locals pronounce the name of their beloved City.

<new or-LEENS> is generally a no-no.

Here are the major standard local pronunciations of the City's name: <new OR-l@ns>, <new AW-l@ns>, <new OR-lee-'@ns> <new AH-lee-@ns>, <nyoo AH-lee-'@ns>.

The miners had seen a calico dress hanging out of a wagon down at the camping ground---sign of emigrants from over the great plains. Everybody went down there, and a shout went up when an actual bona fide dress was discovered fluttering in the wind! The male emigrant was visible. The miners said:

“Fetch her out!”

He said: “It’s my wife, gentlemen---she is sick---we have been robbed of money, provisions, everything, by the Indians---we want to rest.”

“Fetch her out! We’ve got to see her!”

“But gentlemen, the poor thing, she---“

“FETCH HER OUT!”

He “fetched her out,” and they swung their hats and sent up three rousing cheers, and they crowded around and gazed at her, and touched her dress, and listened to her voice with the look of men who listened to a memory rather than a present reality---and then they collected twenty-five hundreds dollars in gold and gave it to the man,

and went home satisfied.

Santur ist eine Art Zither mit 72 Saiten. Aus ihr wurden das mittelalterliche Psalterium, das Zymbalum und später das Klavier entwickelt.

Tonbak auch Zarb genannt ist eine Bechertrommel. Der Körper der Tombak wird aus festem Maulbeerholz geschnitzt, was ihr ihren besonderen Klang verleiht.

Die Regulative, die den Elementarschülern ein Übermaß an Memorierstoff aus Bibel und Gesangbuch vorschrieben, die Seminaristen aber von der Lektüre der klassischen Schriftsteller ausschlossen, brachten ihrem Verfasser den Ruf eines finsteren bildungsfeindlichen Reaktionärs ein.

clipper's remarks: Omar Chajjam, geboren (1048) und gestorben (1131) in Nischapur (Persien); Gelehrter, Mathematiker, Astronom, Physiker und Philosoph.
Seinen eigentlichen Ruhm erlangte er als Verfasser der Rubaijat, einer Sammlung von Sinnsprüchen, die er meisterhaft beherrschte. Er war ein ungewöhnlich origineller Dichter, der seine skeptisch-mystische Lebensphilosophie mit einfachen Epigrammen zu vermitteln wusste.

Das Ruba'i, pl. Rubaijat besteht nur aus vier Zeilen. Jedes Rubai ist ein eigenes, selbständiges Gedicht. Sein Charakteristikum ist das Reimspiel: Die erste, zweite und vierte Zeile enden im selben Reimklang, während die dritte reimlos bleibt.

Beim Opener "ShineOn" treten Dave und Roger zum Mikro, um den Gesangspart zu übernehmen. Ehe sich einer behaupten kann, kommt es zu einer wüsten Schlägerei. Rick greift ein, ihm wird die Brille heruntergeschlagen. Nick stiehlt sich davon, Roger nutzt die kurze Bewusstlosigkeit von Dave, um "SeTeidIsTörning" anzustimmen. Das Auditorium fordert "RanLeikHäll!", Dave rappelt sich auf und boxt Roger eins aufn Mund. Roger fällt auf Rick, Dave kippt hinterher. Ein Haufen Legenden.

Documentary on the events that led to the economic collapse of Argentina in 2001 which wiped out the middle class and raised the level of poverty to 57.5%. Central to the collapse was the implementation of neo-liberal policies which enabled the swindle of billions of dollars by foreign banks and corporations. Many of Argentina's assets and resources were shamefully plundered. Its financial system was even used for money laundering by Citibank, Credit Suisse, and JP Morgan. The net result was massive wealth transfers and the impoverishment of society which culminated in many deaths due to oppression and malnutrition.

Animals is a concept album by English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released on 23 January 1977 in the UK and on 2 February 1977 in the U.S.

The album proved a success in the United Kingdom, where it reached #2 in the era of punk music. It was also a success in the U.S., reaching #3 on the Billboard album charts (#1 and #2 were Hotel California by The Eagles, and the soundtrack to the Barbara Streisand film A Star Is Born). However, it was on the American charts for only six months even though it has continued to sell solidly, to the extent of its having gone quadruple platinum, according to the RIAA.

In the UK, the British Phonographic Industry awarded the album Gold (100,000 units) in 1977. It has yet to achieve Platinum.
