Email Segmentation and Why It's Important to Your Email List

Everybody knows that relevance is key to any successful marketing campaign. The same applies to email marketing. For this article, we demonstrate this through email segmentation.

Picture this. Your visitor opts in to your email list excitedly in order to receive more information about Internet Marketing. Now, if you send them promotions about dog training, what are the chances of obtaining a high Click Through Rate (CTR)? Very little.

Aside from you being thought of as another spammer by your visitors, this low CTR is mainly because the marketing message is not relevant to the audience and for what they first signed up for. Therefore, no sales.

To combat this, email segmentation is used.

Email segmentation should be used to deliver pinpoint targeted messages to your mailing list, as the increased relevance will help your subscribers to feel more understood and therefore boost trust and sales.

However, there are two ways to do this:

My name is Andy Hales, and together with my wife Tracey we run Halestan Gun Dogs, a small group of kennels based near Cannock, Staffordshire.

Our main interest is training and breeding labradors and clumber spaniels to aid in shooting.

I started training springer spaniels in 1987, and began with labradors five years later. Since then, I have run clumber spaniels and labradors in field trials.

Recently, I have taken an interest in working clumber spaniels, competing in trials and working tests with many successes.

I also run training days for any variety of gun dogs, either in small groups or on a one to one basis. If you are interested in coming along for training days or one to one tuition, you can learn more here.

How to Create the Perfect Upsell

An upsell is one of the greatest weapons in a marketer's arsenal, but what is a perfect one?

Essentially, an upsell involves recommending another product to the customer to add to their shopping cart before they reach your order form. You may have noticed that McDonalds upsell all the time in the form of "would you like fries with that" or similar.

Without an upsell, you are making basic sales and restricting your profits. However, *with* an upsell, you are maximizing your sales and also helping people out with new and relevant products.

And that's the key to a perfect upsell, to be relevant. Without relevancy, your upsells will get a very low conversion rate and may even drive the customer away from buying anything at all.

Ok, so over the past few days you’ve probably heard a lot about this guy. And to be quite honest, I’m frickin’ cheesed off to the max about it.

Michael Cheney this, Michael Cheney that… Delta Squadron this, Delta Squadron that… And you know what?

He sucks.

Why? Because he makes more money than most guys in the Internet Marketing industry put together.

In Delta Squadron he really takes the Michael though. $1 million in 7 days? Come on, people spend a lifetime dreaming about that kind of money, and he does it that easily?

Although there’s one thing I do have to thank him for though, and that’s sharing his immense knowledge of Internet Marketing with people in the hope that they’ll get to such a God-like standard that he’s at right now.
