Criminals Google 'How To Open Safe' In Middle Of Burglary

A couple of burglars were stymied when they tried to crack a safe, so they found a computer that had been left on and simply Googled for the information they needed to make off with $12,000 worth of loot.

The burglars, who have yet to be caught, broke into Bigg City, a large amusement center, at 2:45 a.m. on June 11, according to Sgt. Dale Fox of the Colorado Springs Police Department. Despite making off with cash, a laptop, and a PlayStation 3 game console worth a total of $12,000, these weren't a couple of brilliant thieves.

The Colorado Springs Police Department recently put the surveillance video online in hopes of receiving a tip about the crime. Fox said so far they've only gotten a "few weak tips."

The Burmese python tried to swallow its fearsome rival whole but then exploded.

An unusual clash between a 6-foot (1.8m) alligator and a 13-foot (3.9m) python has left two of the deadliest predators dead in Florida's swamps.

The remains of the two giant reptiles were found by astonished rangers in the Everglades National Park.

The rangers say the find suggests that non-native Burmese pythons might even challenge alligators' leading position in the food chain in the swamps.

Here’s Congress siding with Boston’s idiotic public officials. The Terrorist Hoax Improvements Act of 2007 would allow government officials to sue people who fail to promptly clear things up when those officials mistakenly think that they have stumbled over a terrorist plot.

There’s nothing in the bill allowing individuals or corporations to sue government officials when hare-brained overreactions interfere with their lives and business or destroy their property.

Here's a last-minute gem from CeBIT — a video camera controlled by the eyes. We've seen stuff like this years ago with eye-scanning viewfinders that track focal points, but this working prototype developed at Munich's Ludwig-Maximilians University does full camera movement. It is expected to have applications for psychology and market research — not to mention the obvious fashion uptake we can expect from it.

Seeking a new way to reach Internet-savvy consumers, Unitrin Direct, a subsidiary of Unitrin ($9 billion in assets), has established a presence in Second Life, the online virtual world that has been growing in popularity since mid-2006. The move makes the carrier the first auto insurance company to own a building in the Second Life realm, according to Unitrin Direct.

"It is a way to tap into where the insurance market is growing," adds Tom Mercer, VP of marketing at Unitrin Direct. "Young people leave home or leave college and buy insurance for the first time -- this is an opportunity to reach those customers in the sorts of avenues they're using."

Until now, the Arctic animals' migration route and destination have remained a mystery to researchers.

"I think it went well and I'm very happy with eight tags," he told the BBC News website.

"We lost two to the big blue shelf, which was a pity - if you have 10 tags in your pocket, you are aiming to get 10 in, but in general, I'm happy."

The conditions were a lot tougher than the team expected.

Mr Villum Jensen said: "It took five days to finally get to them - there was a lot of ice making it difficult for us to navigate to their habitat.

"The icy conditions also made it difficult to stealth-in on the animals using the boat, and it was very cold and extremely windy at times too."

The satellite tag can be seen on the walrus' shoulder

"Most of the animals we tagged were between six and 10 years of age, but we tagged a couple that were 20 years plus. We tagged an even amount of males and females," Mr Villum Jensen explained.
